Some critics I read imply it's a similar experience to "House of Gucci", where you have a great cast, promising trailer, but the actual movie leaves you stone cold as you're unable to connect to the characters while the drama unfolds.

I think some of the problem goes to the lack of originality in these films. We know we keep getting sequels or comic books films that naturally unoriginal but now it seems we can lump historical or "true story" films into it. For historical films we can (mostly) find what happens in Wikipedia before the film is released.

Yes, there are original films out there but I can't recall the last time I wanted to pay to see one in a theater.

  2. Took the family to see TROLLS: Band Together yesterday. The kids enjoyed the music and fun. My wife really loved the all the boy band references as that was more her musical taste and generation.

On a negative note we bought tickets via Fandango and the convenience fee was $8 which I think is ridiculously high and doesn't help theaters bring in audiences. Next time we'll just check seating availability and plan on purchasing the tickets at the cinema instead.

  3. I wonder if the younger audience even cares about TERMINATOR and its just chasing GenX money? The original film will be 40 years old (yikes!) next year and I wonder if many younger folk in their late teens or early 20s have actually seen it?

I have a co-worker in his mid-20s that I consider a fellow nerd film fan however he never saw Big Trouble in Little China, The Thing nor Blade Runner.

All SF B-movies rolled into one (or two).

Snyder is great at adapting (WATCHMEN, 300, DC) but his original films have a poor track record IMHO.

That being said I'd rather see him direct a THE EXPANSE movie, that would fit his style perfectly.

I'm really not a big cinephile. it's been so long since going to theaters, is the Imax the best? is there a brand of movie theater I'm going to get the best experience watching Minus One?

Alamo Draft House for the food and drinks. Showplace ICON (our favorite) for the cushy and heated reclining seats!!

That is why we're cutting back on streaming, it's ridiculous that prices increased so much in the past year.

On a side note you may be able to save $$ through cashback and/or offers on your credit card. For example I get 6% cashback for streaming plus $25 redeemed for spending over $99 on MAX via a annual subscription renewal on my AMEX Blue Cash card.
