  1. A few observations after messing with it for a bit. The long cannons on top will stay where you put them, but they rotate up and down very easily. Everything locks on pretty solid except for the leg armors. They haven't fallen off on their own, but there was no real confirmation of a solid fit. No squeak or click. The wings lock very solidly into the leg armors for fighter mode. Landing gear works, but there is a fraction of a millimeter between the lower stabilizers on the wing extensions and the ground. There is a solid click for the vtol thrusters as you turn them. The only downside is that, at least on mine, they are not centered properly. Something to check when you get yours. Very impressive kit. Markings are plentiful and crisp. Glad I grabbed one when I could. I will most likely never display it in battroid mode. This thing is not light. Fighter and gerwalk is where it is at.
  2. I do not have small hands. This thing is a beast. I did remove the gunpod adapter. Just a little piece that wedges in between the the tornado forearm armors. the 2 grey pieces are filler inserts I removed from the wing augments in order to attached the extra missle pods. Pretty floppy on the Bandai stand, but...
  3. I don't own a VF-171. Is the tab that connects the cradle to the stand the same size tab as on the VF-25's?
  4. A little update. I had some back and forth emails today with the vendor I am using to clarify some areas of the design. Bad news is this will probably delay their shipment to me. The good news is this isn't stopping me from moving forward with the other components.
  5. That was my hope. I think people took it as me asking for advice.
  6. I think your thinking that you are liking what I am thinking makes me think my thinking will be liked.
  7. Nice. I am thinking what I am thinking will work.
  8. 5mm? Awesome. I actually just ordered a rvf super/ghost set. Should be cool.
  9. I'm glad! I haven't gotten a shipping notification yet. I am hoping to get the package late this week, or early in the week of the 28th. I'll start the video as soon as I get it.
  10. Not a big deal. It wouldn't be something I would want to incorporate into each base, as it only relates to the RVF.
  11. I updated my workshop post. I am looking at getting the ghost set and may have a neat way of integrating them into the base of the stand.
  12. Can someone please accurately measure the peg of the ghost display arm that pegs into the display base? Diameter and length, in decimal millimeters. Please and thank you.
  13. Thanks for your encouragement. I am not entirely against trying for injection molding and kickstarter. I'll test the waters with this incoming kit and see if it works. There are some compromises, but hopefully nothing that diminishes functionality.
  14. I have not updated in awhile, and I finally have something to update with. I have gone back and forth on doing the kickstarter, and I am not sure it would be successful. The current design I would have gone forward with for the kickstarter would appeal to not just Macross collectors, but collectors of action figures, Transformers, Lego, and many others. The upfront cost for tooling the injection molding along with everything else needed to produce it is going to be $80,000+. I am not sure I could get that much buzz about the stand going that route. So instead of doing a kickstarter, I have another design that you could order today. I am waiting for the first samples to test, and I will probably make a thread in the Toys section with a youtube video walking through it. I am hoping it will turn out just as good as my original intended design. I have not made the ordering of the kit available as of yet, as I want to make sure the fit and finish is appropriate. The kit would not include any hardware, and there will be some end user assembly and modification. Hopefully nothing too crazy, and I will show it off when the parts get here. This should help gauge the interest for the stand, and if it goes gangbusters I may move forward with the kickstarter. I have many concerns trying to fund a kickstarter. What if the tooling isn't right? What if the plastic has defects? What about shipping, and fulfillment? I am not looking for answers, I just realize how many ways this could go wrong. There would be a lot of responsibility put on me with everyone's pledges and I don't feel like I could possibly mitigate all of the contingencies. Hopefully I will have a video update next week.
  15. Yeah, Gilliam was quickly passed over. Seemed like Ozma and him were pretty chummy. Than squish.
  16. ...to be fair, the VF-25a is the base unit. Alto stole the VF-25f from Henry Gilliam after Alto watched him die.
  17. I missed all of the packs and parts first time around. I have made it my mantra to order new pack releases asap. Excited to gear up my 25f.
  18. This is true, but if you have even an inkling that you may want one of the packs get it now. Prices will only go up.
  19. That is why I don't use glue for joints.
  20. I did cut up pieces of silicone rubber and put them behind the gray socket. It still didn't seem to hold with enough force. I am coating with future to increase friction. Hopefully the use of both methods will help.
