  1. Ah, come on. You don't like Rie? And yeah, few can compare to Maria.
  2. It's funny how the show has a little homage to John Woo. The carrier dove is named after him and the abandoned church on episode 10 is very reminiscent of the one in The Killer (minus the bloody shootouts).
  3. Claudia Black, Monica Rial and Kira Vincent-Davis, maybe. Everyone else... Bleh... I'd rather have... Atsuko Enomoto (Kurumi) Rie Tanaka (Saki) Masayo Kurata (Karinka) Houko Kuwashima (Nakahito/Nako) Kotono Mitsuishi (Misaki)
  4. Word. I wouldn't mind if Takara made him a Murcielago, though. Sure beats being a Viper.
  5. IMO, Anime-Keep has the best fansub version of Fumoffu. They're the first to finish the entire series. http://a.scarywater.net/akeep/
  6. SPOILER ALERT! Do not read unless you've seen the latest episode. Finished episode 9 today. Wow - what an unusual turn of events. Aside from Joker (who is apparently the bad guy here), Drake Anderson makes a return appearance as he protects this chick against the paper sisters. And then we find out that Junior has the same abilities as Miss Deep. Now when is Yomiko coming back?...
  7. Dude, you gotta encode that on a file format.
  8. We need more concrete information on this.
  9. Koutetsu Tenshi Kurumi Zero ( 鋼鉄天使くるみ零 ) OLM/m.o.e./Pony Canyon, 2001 Unfortunately, ADV Films is not interested in it Directed by Naohito Takahashi (Steel Angel Kurumi, Figure 17) Not Rated (Suggested 17+). Contains T&A and HLA. Sometime in the distant future, Kurumi, Saki and Karinka share an apartment with another girl named Excelia. One day, after school, Kurumi tells everyone that she is in love with a man she met named Michihito Kagura, but she doesn't know when she will see him again. Story: B Here's a very different approach to the Steel Angel Kurumi series: an OAV with no action and no comedy. And not one sound of "Kyuuin!" coming from Kurumi (except maybe after the end of episode 3). Steel Angel Kurumi Zero is simply a drama being played out by just four characters in one apartment. The story focuses mainly on Kurumi talking about her relationship with Michihito (who we'll never see in the OAV) and how heartbroken she gets when she stops receiving emails from him. The concept is good, but because the series is only three episodes long and running at the traditional 15 minutes, character development seems to be lacking. For instance, who is Excelia, and what is her relation to the Steel Angels? Then there's the issue of an Angel having a "Holder." It's mentioned in episode 2, but not clearly explained in the final episode. On the bright side, it's better than Steel Angel Kurumi 2. Animation: A+ Steel Angel Kurumi Zero boasts the same art quality of the first series, only with more vibrant CG effects. And yes, the Angels are drawn similar to the original series (unlike Steel Angel Kurumi 2, where Karinka's hair got messed up). Soundtrack: A Instead of the lively music of the first series, Toshihiko Sahashi (The Big O, Full Metal Panic!) uses a mellow orchestral soundtrack for Steel Angel Kurumi Zero. The ending balald by the Angels is also pretty good. Cast Joining the Steel Angels is Omi Minami (Hyatt in Excel Saga, Ruri in Martian Successor Nadesico) as Excelia. The Bottom Line While not the best Kurumi title, Steel Angel Kurumi Zero doesn't disappoint fans like the second series did. I'm just surprised that ADV hasn't released this yet. 10. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...iew=getlastpost I posted an anime review, not knowing that I was in the wrong forum. My bad.
  11. Photon ( ƒtƒHƒgƒ“ ) AIC/MOVIC/King Records, 1997-1998 U.S. Manga Corps., 2001 Directed by Koji Masunari (Read Or Die, Omishi Magical Theater Risky Safety). Rated 16-Up for graphic violence, gratuitous T&A, HLA, S&M, suggestive sex with a minor, incest, and strong language. Photon Earth is a young and gentle boy with superhuman strength and ƒoƒJ ("Baka"*) scribbled on his forehead (apparently by his troublemaking friend Aun Freya). One day, he finds himself engaged to the beautiful fugitive pilot Keyne Acqua after writing ƒoƒJ on her forehead. And that's the least of his worries as he must protect both Aun and Keyne from the evil Papacharino, who seeks to steal the secrets of "Aho"** energy from Keyne's grandfather's ship. *For those new to anime, "Baka" means a lot of derogatory things. "Idiot" and "stupid" are the most common meanings. **"Aho" is another Japanese word similar to "Baka". Story: B Even though Photon is very derivative of Tenchi Muyo! (right down to Keyne and Aun's bath house scene), the story will leave you laughing non-stop with its rather dirty humor and tons of fan service. As a matter of fact, the fan service has caused Central Park Media to post sexual content warnings usually reserved for their Anime 18 hentai titles. Be warned: much of Photon's content may be hazardous to your brain. Animation: A Before they went all-digital, AIC was one of the best companies when it came to traditional cel animation. And it shows in Photon with its excellent artwork and outstanding animation, just equal to the Tenchi Muyo! In Love theatrical release. Soundtrack: B+ Not much to talk about with the BGM, but the opening theme is pretty catchy after a few episodes, as well as the ending theme by Yui Horie. Sub vs. Dub Photon features Junko Takeuchi (Naruto, Gon in Hunter X Hunter) as Photon, Yumi Kuroda (Shakti in Mobile Suit Victory Gundam) as Keyne, Yui Horie (Naru in Love Hina, Ayu in Ultra Maniac) as Aun, Yuri Amano (Kiyone in Tenchi Muyo!, Rain in Mobile Fighter G-Gundam) as Lashara, Koichi Yamadera (Spike in Cowboy Bebop, Ryoga in Ranma 1/2) as Papacha, Akiko Hiramatsu (Miyuki in You're Under Arrest, Yukari-chan in Azumanga Daioh) as Buran, Ai Orikasa (Ryoko in Tenchi Muyo!, Ayame in Sakura Wars) as Aun's sister, and Yuu Asakawa (Sakaki in Azumanga Daioh, Motoko in Love Hina) as Pochi #'s 2-28. Central Park Media's dubs should always be put on MUTE. DVD Extras: C As with all CPM DVD titles, you have special DVD-ROM features like an image gallery, script, and production lists. There's also a "Meet the Cast" section, playing some character scenes from the OAV. Otherwise, CPM has nothing else to show here. The Bottom Line Photon is Tenchi Muyo! on crack. You might die laughing from this anime. Links AIC's Official Photon Homepage (Japanese) AIC's Official Photon Homepage Reference Anime News Network
  12. Anyone here seen The Stuff? It starts with these guys discovering some strange goo up north. They taste it and market it as frozen yogurt called "The Stuff," which eventually sells like hotcakes. What people don't know is that they're eating alien symbiotes that slowly take over their bodies.
  13. I knew it wasn't a translation. For some odd reason, I was able to figure out what was going on in most parts without reading the subtitles.

  15. Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo (ボボボーボ・ボーボボ) TV Asahi/Toei Animation, 2003-2005 Illumitoon Entertainment, 2007; S'more Entertainment, 2012 Directed by Hiroki Shibata (Getter Robo Go, Sailor Moon Super S Movie) Based on the manga by Yoshiro Sawai Running Time: 25 minutes per episode Rated 13-Up for violence, suggestive drug use and a lot of tasteless humor. In the year 300X, Earth is terrorized by the evil Margarita Empire, which will stop at nothing to rid the entire population of their hair. But now, one afro-wearing man stands in their way. He has the ability to communicate with other people's hair and use his own nasal hair to defeat the Margarita Empire's bald henchmen. His name: Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo. Story: B For years, there have been anime titles that have tested the limits of crack, such as Excel Saga, FLCL and Sexy Commando Gaiden. But Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo will probably take the cake as the most messed-up anime ever conceived. Is there a plot on this one? Maybe not. Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo is filled with numerous potty jokes that may be hazardous to your brain. Animation: C- WTF were the animators at Toei smoking? You got bad guys that look like Dragon Ball Z rejects and a Kenshiro wannabe that uses his nasal hair as his finishing attack. The animation quality looks better than Sexy Commando Gaiden, but it's still borderline crap. You probably have to be drunk to distinguish most of the colors. Soundtrack: B+ The BGM is average, but the opening and ending themes rock. Sub vs. Dub Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo features Takehito Koyasu (Il Palazzo in Excel Saga, Gamlin in Macross 7) as Bo-bobo, Ai Nonaka (Shima in Cosmic Stellvia, Hororo in Bottle Fairy) as Beauty, Masaya Onosaka (Vash the Stampede in Trigun) as Don Patch, Naomi Shindoh (Cagalli in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, Aries in Macross Zero) as Heppokomaru, Keiichi Sonobe (Oliver in Mobile Suit Victory Gundam) as Tokoro Angel, Hikaru Midorikawa (Heero in Gundam Wing, Ryuhou in s-CRY-ed) as Softon, and Shinichiro Ota (Speedy in Avenger) as the narrator. The English dub is equally funny, but that's because the voices are just laughably stupid. Featured voices include Richard Epcar (Guld in Macross Plus, Bateau in Ghost in the Shell) as Bo-bobo, Vicky Green (Sarara in Bottle Fairy) as Beauty, Kirk Thornton (Hachimaki in Planetes, Beyond the Grave in Gungrave) as Don Patch, Taylor Henry (The Count of Monte Cristo in Gankutsuou, Admiral Red in Submarine 707R) as Jelly Jiggler, and Michael McConnohie (Norris in Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team, Schwartzwald in The Big O) as the narrator. DVD Extras Probably won't be covered. The Bottom Line Sexy Commando has finally met his match. Watch Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo at your own risk. 16. Wow...Saint Seiya apparel. The new OAV must've been a hell of a comeback for the series in Japan.
  17. Here it is - the official Macross World Trivia Thread. If you've participated in the Anime Trivia Thread (found at the Other Anime & Science Fiction section), you'll be familiar with the rules. For everyone else, here are the rules: - First person to answer the trivia question correctly gets to post their question. - Questions can be multiple-choice, fill in the blank, or Jeopardy!-style questions in the form of an answer (this means answers have to be in the form of questions). - Questions must be answered within 12 hours. If the question remains unanswered, the person who posted it will answer it and post another question. - Unlike the Anime Trivia Thread, only Macross-related questions are allowed on this thread. Direct influences on the Macross series (i.e. aviation, production staff, movies that inspired the series, etc.) are allowed. - Questions directly related to Robotech are not allowed. And now, here's the first question: Which TV network first broadcast Macross in Japan?
  18. My friend actually has that on DVD. But then again, he's an M.D. Geist fan.
