The $292 number comes from the fact that Bandai's price for the three items comes out to just over that amount. The reason you paid what you paid, isn't because that's what Bandai charged you, it's because the toys are so hard to come by, people are charging more for them. So, I believe their argument is that the problem with these toys isn't the price of them, or what you get for that price, it's their availability (or lack thereof).

I have one of these. I love it. It's heavy and loud as hell, but when I was on the supermoto it wasn't so bad. I took the plastic shielding out and wore some dirt goggles instead. The bike and the helmet together provided endless giggles. If I could get a whole riding suit that looked like a Macross flight suit, I'd be all in. Kind of like these guys.....

Hey.....Gundam's real.

With all the targeting systems that the VFs have, you'd think that bringing a firearm all the way up to the head of a 40ft robot, all to bring iron sights to the "eye" of said robot would be unnecessary. In fact, you'd think it'd be more efficient to have a camera mounted directly on the firearm itself, so that you could see exactly where it was aiming, even if firing behind you without "looking". Besides, just look at how sharp the buttstock is on that gunpod. Wouldn't it cut into his shoulder and hurt like hell if he fired it like that?

Right on. Thanks!

Anybody know if it's possible to combine shipping on Mandarake if you purchase multiple items?
-
OOOooooooohh.......These two, please!!!

Yeah, it's worse thinking you got it for a couple days while you wait for the payment email, only for them to tell you "Nope...someone else beat you to it." At least they're not doing the NY thing and making you pay first, then keeping your money. Looks like that 1S didn't last long.

Wow....one up during normal hours. Guess the price has started to creep up a bit, as well. The one I posted this morning was gone within 3 minutes of the heads up. They go REALLY fast sometimes, and sometimes, even when you think you've got it, you get an email saying the item was out of stock. Happened to me when I'd bought a cheap (3k yen) VF17S for my daughter to mess around with (8 years old and loves Macross....*sniff*).

I get what you're saying. But, the only reason I say that the boxes were about the same size is because I got the two items about a week apart but threw the shipping boxes away as they were too big for me to store, so I can't hold them side to side. That means I have to go by memory (a VERY sketchy proposition). I'm almost positive they were the same size, but I've been punched in the head a LOT, which means making mistakes is very common for me. Yes, that was the chart I was referring to. Just above that chart, it states that DHL charges first by box size, followed by weight. That's what has/had me confused and frustrated about the shipping charge. If the boxes were the same size (I thought they might have boxes that were very similar in size but if Mandarake only has a few box sizes, then I'm almost positive they were the same) and the weight of the toys is only off by half a kilo, it's hard for me to understand that whatever they packed with the 1J would make it that much heavier. In fact, you'd think the shipping materials themselves would be heavier in the 1A box because there would be more space in it, hence, more packing materials. I don't know. I don't want this to sound like I'm trying to argue a point or debunk what everyone is saying, nor am I trying to stick to my guns. If Complex's shipping rates aren't inflated, then I'm just trying to understand. If I'm the only one that experienced this, it's obviously something I'm not seeing. Wait....forget that. I'm not the crazy one, all of y'all are!

I get the 1J has a larger box because of the included stand. But the box they shipped it in was about the same size as the box the 1A was shipped in. And, while the difference in weight is about half a kilo (1.7Kg to 1.2Kg), according to Mandarake's own DHL estimate, that's only a difference of 300 Yen, not 3,000. That just doesn't add up. Maybe at some point, I'll try them again just to see what happens. It'll probably be a while for me, though. Edit: By the way, I'm not saying Mandarake is bad, by any means...quite the contrary, actually. I'm just saying that the one location seems to have very high shipping rates so if I see anything being sold from their location, I don't buy it. I actually love Mandarake. Just wanted to make that clear. And if I have how they're calculating shipping wrong, I would love to know or understand it.

This is why Complex is known to charge more The invoice for this 1J still pisses me off. It's WAAY more than I wanted to pay for one of these to begin with. I felt stupid for paying it, in fact. But, this was by far my favorite Valk and I let my nostalgia get the better of me, even though I already had this in the Yamato 1/48 variant (which I love). Guess I got swept up in the hype. But, when I saw what shipping was going to cost me, on top of over paying as much as I did for this toy.....ugh. Aside from all that, that's a considerable amount more for shipping as Nakano charged me for my Max 1A Nakano also only charged me 1,670 Yen for shipping on my strike parts. I don't know if it's a US thing or not, but if shipping was only going to be what Angesdad paid, I would have snatched those strike parts up in a heartbeat.
-
I was tempted to try it and see.....I even had the parts in my cart with the curser over the buy button. Just didn't want to take the chance of feeling ripped off again. Besides, been spending WAY too much lately. Don't know how much more before my wife goes from rolling her eyes to rolling her Michelins. I've bought 2 DXs, 2 missile sets, and a strike pack from Mandarake and the only time I felt like I was over charged for shipping was from the Complex/Akihabara store. I don't know if there are different locations in the Complex grouping, but that one jacked me, I feel. If the strike parts were from any other site, I'd have another strike set I'd be expecting. In fact, if the person who got those strike parts is on this forum, would you mind letting me know what shipping ended up being. I'd love to know if it was just a one time thing that happened to me or not. I passed on another great deal earlier last week simply because it was from that site.
-
Damn. Sorry guys. That was fast....as usual. Not a bad price for the strike parts, but up 100 yen from two weeks ago. Complex/Akihabara charged me 7.8k yen to ship a 1J to me a couple weeks ago. Same day I bought the 1J, I bought some super parts. Nakano shipped them for 1,670 yen, in a box that was almost the same size as the box the 1J came in. In the time since, I've ordered 3 more DX Vf1s, none of which cost more than 4.5k to ship. I just won't buy anything if it's from that location again. Even if the price is good, I end up paying the same price I would have anywhere else....at least shipped to me from them.

Mandarake has Hikaru's VF-1S for 26k yen here https://order.mandarake.co.jp/order/detailPage/item?itemCode=1147672278&ref=list&keyword=dx vf1&lang=en And a set of movie strike parts for 12k. I'm pissed because I've been looking for these for a while but they're from the Complex/Akihabara site. No way I'm paying their shipping. Anyway, link's here... https://order.mandarake.co.jp/order/detailPage/item?itemCode=1126326850&ref=list&keyword=dx vf1&lang=en Also, missile set for 9k https://order.mandarake.co.jp/order/detailPage/item?itemCode=1112611395&ref=list&keyword=dx vf1&lang=en

So, if I were to pick that Kaki up, that would be the shipped price?

How does shipping work on Buyee? Do they ship to the US or do you have to use a proxy?
