  1. well personally for me it is hard to say, I remember when i first purchased a yamato YF-19 i thought it was the coolest thing...now my favorite is the 1/48 hikaru vf-1s with fp, but i see yamato going downhill with the 1/100 macross zero stuff. just my opinion, but i think yamato would make more money if they kept producing 1/48s in different sculpts, namely mac + stuff.
  2. Good question. I love the 1/48 line and would love to see the ostrich in a 1/48 scale. However, I feel like Yamato has taken a step backward with the VF-0 in 1/100 scale. I dont know why yamato wouldnt continue to venture in with the 1/48 scale considering the way they have sold out almost everywhere. In fact they are re-issuing the older 1/48s. Personally I feel like the ostrich is a popular valk but yamato is looking for profit only. I guess they feel they can whip up some crap and put it out on the market (Eh Hem...VF-0 1/100 scale) but that doesnt mean that it will sell...I personally hate the way it looks and wont be spending a dime on it. Now if they were to make it in 1/48 scale that would be a different story. Yamato needs to realize that we are spending HARD EARNED cash on these toys and we desire a level of quality associated with the price we pay. Just because it costs yamato MONEY to manufacture these things doesnt mean they arent junk, the results speak for themselves. Please Yamato stop walking backwards, your just going to trip and fall.
  3. Just got my Super/Stike armor today from valktronics!!! I love the armor pack. Very detailed and a sturdy piece. Cant wait to get my hands on more...have to give my wallet a rest right now though. The detail on these things is incredible!!!
  4. I think a lot of macross world custom builders use Timiya Acrylic paints that can be picked up at most hobby towns or ordered online. I would thin the paint using Timiya paint thinner at a 1:1 ratio. If your going to paint plastic though i would suggest priming the surface of the model before you do. I think Kurt uses Mr. Surfacer 1000 by Sanyo Ganzo. Make sure to clear coat your model using Future Floor polish. Acrylic paints dont hold up as well as enamels do. I would recommend a flat or satin coat of future to seal in your paint and decals. Hope this helps.
  5. i vot ethe latter. BUT this ties into my theory of yamato making a quick buck on this POS while hiding behind the scenes making a big perfect variable to shut us all up and have a merry x mas after vol5 comes out. (if they are the sole license holders I might be right) Agreed! I am offended by that awful sculpt. Yamato must be hiring high school art students to sculpt these things . I know this may be flaming the "if you dont like it dont look at/buy it" argument but c'mon! does Yamato think they can sell this crap?! I dont have 70$ to shell out on this kind bull. That thing looks like it was the result of the sculptor taking a mental dump and that was what came out. Ill take my 70$ and buy extra fast packs for my 1/48 before I buy this thing.
  6. Yeah i have some Enigma water slide decals from anasazi but now that i just forked out so much for the fast packs too I would like to keep the 1S Hikaru in original condition....it is my favorite valk. I think Ill wait until i have an extra set of pack armor and a 1J to convert it to an enigma...I kind of like the greenish color gives it more of a military feel to me...Reminds me of the old 1/55 strike valk armor, but i understand the reason why some people would be bothered by the color. I just cant get over how cool it is to have a built in heatshield on this thing...really makes a difference.
  7. I agree! Especially the black one. Reminds me of a F-18 super hornet. On the reactive armor topic ..... wow......stunning Love it. Hopefully Yamato can pull something like that off. I like it but it definately has an Armored core feel to it.
  8. Yeah no kidding!!! I just ordered a set from valktronics. I cant wait to get em and add em to my VF-1s Hikaru. Now just need a 1j and fast packs. It never ends.
  9. Hmm im such a noob, i was just wondering i saw this on ebay, and want to pick it up. I just want to make sure that it is legit. It looks kind of greenish to me, maybe im just finding out that Im color blind. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5910910831&rd=1
  10. I know this is probably a dumb question but I was wondering which color of fast packs I should buy the greenish colored ones or the blue colored packs. Any major differences? Thanks
  11. Im truly sorry for your loss...I have lost loved ones in the past as well. I will pray for you and your daughter. She is a lucky girl to have someone as strong as you to stay here and do what is right for her and her future and that is worth so much.
  12. Jung, that is incredible work! I love the digital camo paint. I couldnt imagine the masking job of painting all those little hexagons. Spectacular...I can only imagine what your conjuring up next!!!!
  13. I think I have got to the point that im bored with almost any variant of the VF-1. I would like to see some other variables explored. Consider a 1/48 VF-4 or a VF-5000 star mirage with booster packs.( I WOULD BUY 2!!) or even *gasp* finish up with already scheduled projects I.E. YF-19 Fastpack. I would like to see a VF-22 in 1/48th scale as well...but i think ill have to keep dreaming on a lot of these ideas. I voted for the cannon fodder however as im more keen to a paint scheme that to me is more realistic. I just like how subtle it is.
  14. Thanks a lot for the advice kurt, I really appreciate it. I think you completely answered my questions...I just have to say that I really like your work and hopefully Ill be able to share mine soon. Thanks again.
  15. Just wanted to say hi to everyone. I have been coming here as a guest for too long...glad to be able to actually talk to some other people who love macross as much as me. Anyway Im going to do a custom enigma 1/48 so keep your eyes open...ill post images as soon as its complete.
  16. Very nice work as usual Kurt. Well done.
  17. Hello, Im new to this board...I hope im not flaming by typing this topic. However I have just ordered a new VF-1S Hikaru and I plan on customizing it in the enigma style. I was just wondering if you could give me some pointers on starting this project. I have a few questions that i cant seem to figure out. 1) when stripping the paint off of the 1/48, what product do you use? and do you disassemble the valkyrie before stripping the paint or do you leave it in one piece? 2) When the paint is stripped do you sand all the pieces before applying primer? and what type of primer do you use? 3) The most important question i have though is when after you have preshaded the valkyrie do you "fill in" the areas between the preshades? or do you layer the paint in one coat going over the preshade? Anyway Im excited to finally have a name on these boards, i havent registered but have been frequenting this board for some time. So Hello to everyone and hopefully ill have a cool custom to share with all of you soon.
