we're not being blinded. its an anime. we're appreciating their effort that they put into the designs. its the same as mechs. some ppl like one mech over another. all designs. we're just discussing designs that are less significant. yeah , I understand , that´s why I said we should criticize based on design quality not the nostalgic value. Anything new will have a much higher chance of being more aesthetically pleasant than older designs , with some rather impressive exceptions of course. hmm... depends on people. i actually find dyrl helmets aesthetically appealing to me than maczero helmets. might be just me tho. its not a nostalgic thing for me. i dont think im old enuf to be nostalgic yet. i'm 20. im a young macross fan.

looks like the reissued bandai 1/100 kit to me. blackaces actually has several for sale right now. Blackaces VF-2SS Sale im actually not a huge fan of the vf-2ss but im loving this mod. i was hoping to try something similar for the vf-1 kit bash that i plan on doing later. i like this mod since it has a ball joint for greater posability. hope this project gets finished.

personally im not too big on the glasses thing. after seeing the game helmets. still a toss up between dyrl and macplus for me.

wow, i totally forgot that i had the game videos. here are some more helmets. both from vf-x. m3 have basically the same helmet as dyrl and vf-x helmets look like mac plus helmets.

its not for everyone. i like the macross zero helmets. definitely 3rd after my dyrl and macplus toss up. the only gripe i have with it is the pictures (skull in roys case & lightenings for shin) on the helmet. its cool and all but i like the non customized helmets. im with Ido. m7 helmets are definitely not my style. dull and boring looking for the vf-11 helmets... big and silly for gamlin's helmet. were there any special helmets for the games? vf-x, m3, etc? i played it but dont remember how the helmets were specfically...

No RADD you're totally right in that aspect. Another prime example is the VF-2J, which is actually 1 of 2 of my favorites from MacII. All it really is, is a VF-1J that sports flat edges. For all you Mecha stat junkies that happen to own an RPG source book, look up the VF-2J. Why can't the bugger fly in battroid mode? Ditto. I agree with that too. IMO, MacII wasnt very original. Although I have nothing against it, there were a couple of things that I wasnt fond of at all. I wasnt very fond of all the valkryies having that "space future" look instead of looking like an semi-realistic plane that has certain "inspirations" from real planes. Next I didnt like how they "improved" on the SDFM mechs. Almost everything was just a modded, spaced up looking version of a SDFM mechs. Destroids, Q-Raus, Valks... everything. I think the only original thing in that series was the Metal Siren.

Actually...there are a few designs in M7. There's the standard pilot version used by the VF-11 pilots on M7, the version used by the M5 Zentradi pilots, the M7 Spec Ops version, the Varuta survey group version, and the version used for the VF-22. So there are quite a few more missing from that comparison. there are actually a BUNCH missing. I just got the "main" ones thats seen the most in each series. theres shin's f-14 helmet, guld's yf-21 helmet, dokker's vf-19s helmet (i think thats diff), and prob a lot more others... heres the Mac7 VF-11 helmet.
