  1. Good point on the preprogrammed controls, but there must be some input from the controller that the computer couldn't do. Take for instance Hikaru catching Minmay mid-air, the fingers have to grab with just the right amount of pressure, too much you crushed her, too little she slips out. Catching a gunpod in midair from Mac 0, different yet. The computer would never know exactly what you wanted. Weight of object, size of object, durability of object, they would have to be judged by the pilot. I believe there is a mix of computer and pilot imput. The computer would never figure out the variables in dressing up as a Zentraedi ala Max. Anime magic is a good thing to go with here, but we have our own crutch - OVERTECHNOLOGY
  2. This weekend! I'm there. Happy B-day DYRL!!!!
  3. A few years from now Hurin will have another plumbing problem, call the same plumber who will bring the kid. The kid will now bother him at every moment talking about very-techs and happily singing "stage fright". Hurin will then slap kid and kick himself for starting the kid on the path of Robotech.
  4. Wondering the same thing. The game is Mospeada based, and the new series looks likes it will also have Mospeada designs in it. My opinion is that the game may show some hints to the new series - maybe new mecha or characters that may show up in the new show, or an unresolved plot that may go right into the series and to a sequal of the game. Or I could be totally off base. This would be something that would bring more of an audience into the show, as this new game is supposedly going to have a broader appeal to those who don't know RT or only have a passing interest in RT.
  5. Good to know that the new series exists. For a while I thought it was just vaporware. Title isn't making me do backflips though, sounds like were going to see a lot of shadow fighters in this series.
  6. Wow just watched it last night and wondered the same thing. It sounds like chaff when you hear Isamu fly through it. So I assumed the AI of the Ghost X-9 believed that it was going to be fired upon by missiles and chose wrong. But your right about those explosions that seem to come from no where. If thats what those particles do, then Isamu and Guld knew about it because they avoided the explosions.
  7. Damn, I was hoping that these were some sort of reissue or a high quality boot. My Gakken Legioss didn't make it through my childhood very well.
  8. The second one is a reissue. I think there might be some stickers that have to be applied to the original, that the reissue has painted on - but I could be wrong. Not a bad toy, I bought one for 29.99, pretty solid though very plasticky.
  9. Thats always been a WTF scene. They even start cutting another hole with head lasers. Doesn't Max actually get sucked out of said hole?
  10. I voted for DYRL for the improved visuals, awesome action, and for the great scene near the end where Misa walks into Hikaru's room to find Minmay there, that conversation between Hikaru and Misa is full of emotion which I felt was lacking in the final episode of SDF Macross. Besides seeing Hikaru letting loose on Bodolza is classic.
  11. I think the reason they didn't use it was it didn't fit in with the visuals and message they were trying to convey in Flashback 2012. Each song has a visual message that goes with the lyrics, especially "Love Drifts Away". Just my thought.
  12. Your conversion is now complete! Thanks for the info on the HK boots. Looks like more money being spent on Macross... Lets get this thread back on topic. This is a good place for everyone who converted from RT to Macross purism, to explain how it happened. I remember being in my local video store looking at the Macross Plus videos and wondering how this fit into RT, where are the alphas I wondered, where are the cyclones, and thought this was some sort of alternate dimension Robotech. So I didn't rent them. Months went by and decided to rent Mac II, this started to bring things into light. Didn't really enjoy it a whole lot, even though I love the VF-2SS. (At this time didn't realize Mac II was alternate dimension story itself) At this point I bought the RT DVD's and probably because I'm older now I realized that the story was made up of three unrelated shows. Now it made sense, in Japan Macross continued on, these were sequels! Rented M+, loved it, found Macross World and tons of other fan websites, started using Macross terminology instead of RT terms. Then bought M+, DYRL, Flashback 2012, and finally SDF Macross. Decided I like the story better, and now RT stuff gathers dust. Also got Genesis Climber Mospeada and enjoy that as well. One problem, I've started getting into collecting the toys and this is getting to be an expensive hobby.
  13. Mac Zero is at the top of my anime to buy list. Are the HK boots any good, as in how is the subbing?
  14. Thanks for the welcome. I'm wondering what to do with my RT DVD's as well, right now they're on the shelf next to my Macross stuff, but that seems somewhat sacreligious. I'm still kind of mad at Harmony Gold for duping me into buying these lies on disc and I'm still trying to get Tony Olivers voice out of my head when watching the real stuff. Still not as tough as getting my friends to stop saying Veritech, which at this point grates on me like nails on a chalkboard.
  15. Kamjin_Prime(Khyron_Prime) made up my mind that I should join. Started with Robotech but found Macross Plus and never looked back. I've been a lurker for some time, but thanks to all of you fine people I got the Animiego set and DYRL as well as Flashback 2012. The jury is still out if I'm going to see M7 or not, but looking forward to MZero.
