Just talked with someone at CineEast, an Asian video store in LA. They were the ones selling the deadstock mint Gakken Alphas. About a month ago, they'd found a small case of old warehouse stock (about 6 blue Alphas, a couple of cyclones), and have just recently sold the last Alpha they had, at $70.00. So if you were planning to look for these at Anime Expo, don't waste your time. CineEast will be there, so you can ask them about it.
