1. Wow, you were lucky. I remember me and a few kids living on the same street each got different figures from each of the gestalt series and one time we came close, having 4 of the 5 for a complete robot!! So, of the different gestalt series, which stand out and a "great" set? Thanks mate. 413671 Hmmm...out of all the gestalts I have (Defensor, Superion, Computron, Devastator, Menasor, Bruticus, Predaking, and Abominus), the best three are the Technobots (Computron), the Protectobots (Defensor), and the Terrorcons (Abominus). All three are the most solidly playable in combined mode, in that their limbs are good and tight, and the figure itself actually feels integrated. They also look the best in terms of solidity and height--Computron and Abominus especially. If you're in the market for gestalts, I'd start with these three first.
2. Hey dr reggae, how was primus? I've been considering getting him just to put him next to unicron. What's your info on the good and bad points of the toy? BTW - Where is your Defensor ? You've gotta get him if you've got all the other combiners 413659 Oh, I've got Defensor too...forgot to mention him. He's actually one of the more solid combiners, in that his limbs are pretty tight, and doesn't look too ungainly in gestalt mode. As individual toys, however, the Protectobots were always kind of so-so. As for Primus...I have to say that he's sweet as hell. Awesome detail (he's even got Iacon and Kaon as cities on his planet exterior), good colors, and even the kibble on him doesn't detract from the overall look and feel of the figure/character. My two minor complaints about him so far are that I wouldn't mind having more flexibility with his arms (his elbows are kind of high up, and his shoulder armor doesn't allow full rotation), and that his fingers are hella long when extended. And I was lucky enough to get the version that came with Unicron's damaged head. My girlfriend was rolling her eyes at me all weekend. Definitely worth your time and money to get, Eazy...you won't regret it.
3. Almost forgot to mention something about the KO gestalts. On a whim a couple of years ago, I picked up the Aerialbots KO at my local Walmart. I've NEVER seen a $&&*tier piece of plastic than those hunks of...something. Air Raid's swivel bolt that both connects and allows his wing to pivot isn't even't aligned in the plastic correctly. That said, though, I did pick up TF Cybertron Primus yesterday, and I'm pleased as hell with him.
4. Ah yes...the gestalt bug. I still kind of have it, since I've been trying to track down the last two members of TF Victory's Brestforce for about two years now. I was lucky as a kid in that I had a decent amount of the original combiners...my parents got me the Constructicon giftset, and I also had all the original Combaticons, Stunticons, Aerialbots, Technobots, and Terrorcons. When Takara reissued Predaking, though, I nearly soiled myself...never had a chance to get him when I was younger. Since then, I picked up Predaking, one of the Micromaster combiners, and four of the Brestforce to try and complete LioKaiser.
5. Now that you guys mention it, I do see the changes. Not sure I like the look of the new kibble at the waist area...but then again, I'll buy it no matter what.
6. Tformers.com has another scan up of MP Starscream's prototype. Nothing really new revealed, but it still looks cool. http://tformers.com/article.php?sid=6127
7. He's one of the centerpieces of my collection, that's for sure. I've got a few Japanese-only releases that are pretty prized as well too, though...Victory Saber, DesZaras, Overlord, Dai Atlas, and Brave Maximus.
8. I remember the Masters lines well...my pride and joy is still my original Fortress Maximus. My dad, upon seeing me open it for the first time, shook his head and said "Jesus Christ." I always liked the Targetmasters, though...Triggerhappy and Pointblank were my two favorites.
9. Hasbro updated their official TF Classics page with a color pic of Astrotrain in train mode. Check the link and scroll down a bit for him. http://www.hasbro.com/transformers/default...12B14A6033C14A1 Overall, I'm pleased...helps reinforce the notion that these are the G1 characters, but updated.
10. I'm definitely looking forward to Mirage too...and Optimus, although I'm essentially out of display space for new TF's. God help me when I get Primus.
11. Alternators Prowl is also getting the repaint treatment, this time as Camshaft, who was originally one of the Omnibots from 1985.
12. TFW 2005 also has a possible pic of an Alternators Megatron, as an Abrams tank. Robot mode only pic, link is here: http://www.tfw2005.com/news/data/upimages/abrams_deco.jpg Apologies if someone posted this and I haven't seen it yet.
13. So Shoji did this thing too? 403121 I think he led/oversaw the design team and process.
14. Another pic of MP Starscream has been added to TFW 2005's frontpage...link... http://www.tfw2005.com/news/data/upimages/...3starscream.jpg Mostly shots we've seen, but it has a clearer pic of the underside of the jet.
15. Megatron looks funky...but who am I kidding? I'll buy him.
16. Now we have to see what Megatron really looks like.
17. And the paint job on his wings reminds me of Cipher's F-15C in Ace Combat Zero.
18. Very nice...thank ya, Shin. Gotta say that they all look pretty cool. Screamer looks like a cross between G1 and War Within. And god help us all, but do I see rubsigns on there? Definitely be getting these too. No room for them, though.
19. Some more news from around the TF world: The BotCon exclusive is a repaint of Cybertron Crumplezone, this time as Optimus Primal. Pic... http://www.tfw2005.com/news/data/upimages/primalbot.jpg Black and white pic of Shockwave from IDW's Transformers Spotlight in September, focusing on Shockwave... http://idwpublishing.com/news/dujour.shtml Full cover pic of IDW's Stormbringer, as drawn by Don Figueroa: http://www.tfw2005.com/news/data/upimages/poster_colors.jpg As reported on Seibertron, apparently the Transformers Club page has pix up (I assume for members)...link from Seibertron is here... http://seibertron.com/news/view.php?id=7457
20. The feet do look kind of funky, but I doubt it'll keep me from buying him...and all the other Seeker repaints too. Kind of curious to see if they'll do Sunstorm. Now I gotta find room for them...
21. Another picture of MP Starscream is up, scanned from the Fan 2 Fan magazine. Link below: http://seibertron.com/images/news/gfx/1148488036_MPS.jpg
22. TFW 2005's frontpage also has clear pix up of Transformers Classics Optimus, as designed by Don Figueroa. Looks pretty cool. http://www.tfw2005.com/news/data/upimages/...dlxrobot4qd.jpg http://www.tfw2005.com/news/data/upimages/...dlxtruck0ci.jpg
23. At first just tail him like any other bogey, fire missiles when you're close and have a clear shot (if you have the super homing missiles, even better). Stay alert for a huge blast he occasionally sets off when you're behind him, but it's fairly easy to dodge. During the second half of the battle, slow down until he charges you. When he does, build speed, quickly fire off a couple of missiles then dodge his own volley. It's sorta like a joust. Lather, rinse, repeat... 395601 Thanks, Valk Hunter. I tried again last night and got close, but no cigar. Which super homing missiles were you referring to, by the way? I have either the XLAA's or XMAA's (can't remember right now) equipped on the F-15C and Su-37.
24. Got the game yesterday, and I've been enjoying it. It's kind of cool to see locations and the occasional faces/vessels that we saw in AC5. Kind of bittersweet seeing the Kestrel too, since we know what eventually happens to her. I'm stuck on the dogfight with Pixy, though...anyone got any suggestions for me? So far I've used the F-15C and the SU-37.
