  1. If I took public transport to work I'd consider it. As it is, I don't travel enough to justify a portable system and at home, I spend most of my time with my Xbox (can you say Halo2, and KOTOR still to come in '04?).

Perhaps if I started travelling for work more I'd pick up a portable system...

  2. this has got to be a takatoku as the taka's didn't have the removeable cockpit cover. So you would have to add on a clip on heatshield like that. And yeah fearyaks, either this looks like a case of the buyer backing out or he's selling another one. But why use the same exact photo's? I know for sure if you paint another one, it would be exactly the same blue. Unless there's a standard blue like that already.

That would be really lame (if the previous buyer backed out) because he even left feedback for the item.

Kinda fishy but the guy does have OK feedback (check out some of his Green Goblin masks).

    Better than Chocolate Fondue pots!

  3. Is this one of those "boxes only" type of deals? If you get a set of empty boxes, there's nothing to complain, cause that's what the auction says, no? <_<

"What you see is what you get"

Good question. I have no idea who this person is but if you check their other auctions, those look legit (you see the items)...

Note - the 1/48s are also like this.

It's a bit risky since he's got a low feedback rating but those MPCs do look sealed.

  4. Hey I don't know if I should post this here but...

    alpha sale

Look at his feedback, he always blames lack of reading skills.

    what's he up to??

I dunno, but I found this kind of funny in his item description:

"...Detractable landing gear with authentic rubber tires."

    :lol::lol::lol:

Well... the guy is a dork. I have a beef with people who pre-sell stuff on eBay but those people really did need to read the 'fine print'. I've checked 10/11 of the negatives and they were all on pre-orders.

tsk tsk... eBay really shouldn't allow pre-orders.

  5. Also, I was just watching ANH and noticed that when Darth and Kenobi were fighting, this version didn't have Kenobi saying 'you can't win Darth.  If you strike me down now, I will become more powerful than you can ever imagine'.  It's been a few years since I've seen the originals.  Was this taken out with the original special editions?

In the commentary Lucas says there are 3 different audio versions of ANH. Each have slightly different dialog.

I thought so. Why did he change the dialogue for that portion. I thought it was quite moving.

I've still got to get through the commentary for Ep II.

  6. Then why is there an Unleashed figure with him fighting the sarlac during escape?

    In the books, he escapes.

  7. Well since I just bought a Xbox, I dunno about paying $60 for Live.  Plus I need to buy a 50ft rj45 cable or buy the $100 wireless adapter.

Frankly, I agree with Rocco.  Pay to play is just ridiculuous.  I have been playing XvT and XWA on www.zone.com for free via PC hence why I bought SWBF for PC and Xbox. Paying monthly or yearly is just aint right.  I bought the game which is $50 or higher and then pay another $70 for Live? And to top it off I have to pay an addition $50 per year?

Oh fearyaks, I dunno about the ESPN.  I like Madden better than ESPN as in gameplay.  Graphics is better than madden but still...

Fair enough (re: paying the money) but on 11-09-04 you'll probably want it. Do you have a wireless router at home because if so, you could probably hook up everything for less than $100.

And ESPN is only $19.99. I'm quite enjoying it and as I mentioned before, I like both series.

Yes I already have a wireless infastructure.

Hey Godz, if you've already got the infrastructure setup, you don't need the 'official' xBox wireless crap... just go and pickup a wireless bridge and you'll be set!

  9. That R2 line was something that supposedly showed up in the soundtrack that they used to make the '97 SE. They didn't even realize it was different until after the fact. There were several mixes for each of the films, in mono and stereo. Jedi is the only one that I doesn't have any alternate takes, afaik.

That's too bad... it's quite a good line and I'll miss it. Regardless, you move on. I'd gladly take the improved visuals over a one-liner.

  10. Other than that picture is immaculate on a upconvert DVD on HDTV. Ironically I find these DVDs a worthy purchase. This is the cleanest I have seen the OT in a long time.

I agree with Js. I confess that I haven't watched the DVD's thoroughly, but from what I've seen on my HDTV, they look simply amazing! I still have my laserdisc box sets (Definitive THX and SE set) and the video quality is by far superior on the DVD's. The audio's excellent too, but for some reason, the Definitive box set just sounds more "right." It seems like the music and sfx are ever so slightly out of balance in the SE and DVD sets, probably has to due with the old Dolby track being mixed to DD 5.1.

Funny that people are mentioning problems with ANH, because the guy who burned me my DVD copies had a problem copying that particular disc. That's right King George, you're not getting any more of my money, muhahaha!

    B))

Yep, I was very pleased when I threw in Empire yesterday to preview the discs. On my HDTV it looks like the bomb. I'm only using component out too (only one HDMI input). The picture is great. Sound is fine too.

Regarding the R2 line change, that's odd. I'll have to check it out. I wonder why he did that.

  11. Personally, I think it's ridiculous that you have to pay a subscription to play a game online... I can understand, like someone else said, paying for access to the online arena of games, but then you have to pay an extra fee per game?! That's lame... Especially when people have been playing online games for years for free on the PC (minus ISP fees).

I look at it this way... I have SO many bills per month, and now I'm asked to add another one to play a game?? Is it cheaper than going to the arcade used to be? I used to be able to play a game for an hour or so on $.50.... How does this compare?

So here is the bill breakdown for the month:

    Electric

    Water

    Phone (land line)

    Cell Phone

    Cable

    Car Insurance

    Mortgage (that's a big one)

Credit card (gotta buy toys :p )

    Internet Access

    Food

    Gas

    Home owners insurance

    Line of Credit Loan

    Home Depot

Look at all this CRAP!! SHEESH... And now if I want XM-Radio... another $12 a month... I want to play online games.... another what? $10, $15, $20 a month?!

Wow... I went off on a rant.... sorry.

Not to turn this into a PS2 live vs Xbox live post but look at it this way -

With the Xbox you don't have to buy a network adapter which is basically the same cost as subscribing for a year. IT's a pain but it's no worse than the MMORPG monthly fees out there.

Godzilla - I'm quite enjoying ESPN. I rotate every year between Madden and 2K. The passing isn't that bad and I wonder if you're hitting the pass buttons too quickly. You can pump-fake using the pass buttons and sometimes it screws up and pump-fakes for you if you don't press the button correctly.

It's 'only' $19.99 so why not? I bet you could probably find it used somewhere for cheap.

  12. It's using the BF1942 engine, isn't it?

And for some reason, that picture with the guys in costume playing it cracks me up.

:p I would be the knuckle head in the biker scout outfit playing Battlefronts. I belong to a costume group called the 501st Legion, who has chapters all over the world. We dress up as the villians from the Star Wars films for media and service events.

The Bay Area chapter and my group from the Sacramento dressed up for a Lucas Arts media promotions for video game press. The funny thing is that all of us were hesitant to play the game at first as we did not want to be unprofessional (ie we were there to work and not fool around). However, Lucas Arts staff and reporters thought it would be cool to have those in costumes play out the characters in the video game. Along with event for Lucas Arts, our group also did a little play acting for an Electric Playground piece. Check out the following links.

Aren't you a little short for a Storm Trooper?
