  1. Ok, I'm a little slow this morning, what is the USAF replacing? The F-15E?
  2. Anybody know when Ace Combat 5 comes out?
  3. What the heck is a rezzo? Heard of WSO's and RIO's never a rezzo.
  4. eh... I'd do her.
  5. There's a difference here as opposed to pretty much every other aircraft canopy I can think of, the F-16 has a plexiglass(?) canapoy...I think. What I do know is the F-16 has a canopy that's not glass like most. In most aircraft if the Canopy doesn't pop off, you can break through it, the top of the ejection seat has a "canopy breaker" on it. The F-16's canopy flexes, the idea was that if there was a bird-strike with the canopy the canopy wouldn't break, it would just flex and the bird would bounce off...anyway long story short you can't break through an F-16's canaopy. If I had to guess I'd bet (from looking at pictures only) that the JSF and F-22 have the same type of canopy.
  6. I WANT ONE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. That's the one I was thinking of too!
  8. Isn't it called 1942 or 1943?
  9. Just bareley I was probably 6 or 7 when that show was on but I rember my dad watching it. There was an episode (I think) where one of the Tomcat RIOs puts on a Ronald Reagan mask after they intercept a bomber.
  10. It had less to do with the F-4 and more to do with the training regiment of pilots in the late 1950's and early 1960's. There was a point where ACM training was completly outlawed. F-4 pilots were taught how to engage incoming Soviet Bombers with in a BVR enviroment, F-105 pilots were taght to deliver nuclear weapons at low-level into Europe. (See a trend) This is why TOPGUN and the USAF Fighetr Weapons School were developed to reteach air combat. There was also a real bad habit of the USAF of taking anyone with wings and rotating them into fighters with minimal transition training. The capablities of an aircraft are important, but the training and the abilities of the pilot are more important.
  11. I can actually think of a reason. On the opening night of the Gulf War (the first one) and the following day, the F-15's had planned to use a tactic that was referred to as the "Missile Wall." 4 Eagles would fly in a line abreast formation ahead of the bombers and attack jets, when the Iraqis moved to intercept they would all launch missiles. I magine having this many AIM-120's on each F-15. Each missile is self guiding after being lauched you could splash the entire Air Force of a small country. The drawback is the lack of fuel economy, you would have to be planning on getting rid of those missiles quick, but if you're planning on being one of the lead fighters into a country that hasn't had one shot fired at it yet it doesn't sound to bad. With good tanker support it would be no problem. A few problems: 1) Tanker support 2) Not being engaged by the enemy Air Force 3) Drag 4) Being jumped in close
  12. Uh...let's go with tanking, But off a KA-6, an S-3, or a KC-135....descisions, descisions
  13. Didn't realize that, I thought about half the squadrons were getting "E" models. My mistake
  14. I feel bad for the RIOs, they're going to be out of a job (well at least a bunch of them)
  15. ANybody have this game? I've been messing around with the demo and wanted to see what ya'll thought of the full version.
  16. I think the difference in the EA-6 and the EA-18 is the 20 or more years of time that's come in between the two, that's why I don't think the EA-18 requires 4 crewmembers.
  17. Anybody heard if we'll be able to play it online or not?
  18. Janes Fighters Anthology On the subject of what to take after the SAMs, the F-4G was good at it's job, but I think the Hornet will do just as good of a job. I know there are a lot of people who are going to say "Hell No!" just becuase of an anti Hornet bias (but the ability of the aircraft, doesn't ahve anything to do with the Tomcat vs. Hornet debate, and saying the Tomcat would do better isn't constructive, seeing as it won't be happening.) But it can do the job at least as good as an F-4G could if not better and the crew workload would be less than in an F-4. I don't like the idea of using the F-16 personally, becuase I think you need the second crewman to do the job properly. A team effort would work best in my opinion, Team of an EA-6 jamming and of Hornets or Falcons as the strikers to hit any targets that couldn't be jammed with either bombs or with anti-radiation missiles, but i you want to do it all with one package I think the EA-18 will be capable. Let the flaming begin.
  19. Maybe somebody knows the answer to my question. I know a forward swept wing gives better manuverability, especially when combined with thrust vectoring and canard wings, and you are forced to trade stealth for manuvarbitlity, but how do the conards affect stealth on a plane conventionally swept wings, like an F-15 ACTIV or if you were to place them on something like the F-22. I know the Eurofighter uses them (no stealth), the SU-37(no stealth), but a Rafale does have stealthy fetures, anybody know?
  20. I think the EA-18's will be an option for missions in which you have to destroy SAM's and you can either bomb them or use anti-radiation missiles to destroy them.
  21. I want to see them!!! This is what I meant.
  22. Tail Marking So are we playing as members of the Black labrador Squadron?
  23. Have ya'll seen the new screenshots yet??? The F-14s are incredible! Screenshots
