  1. I seem(ed) to recall (when debating this myself last night) that at one point Shawn and Graham gave the definitive answer that it is indeed two words. We just think of it as one word because of the URL. It appears as two words in other logos on the main site. So I went with that.
  2. Well, they're the exact same color as the dark blue used on the front page. And, well, changing the buttons is a major pain in the butt. So, I'll change them when the front page changes. Edit: I've also noticed that the darker aspects all look a lot better when many of them are visible at once. Such as on the index page or when the banner is showing. But, yes, sometimes those dark blue buttons sitting all alone (as you scroll down and get away from the other dark blue elements) can seem a bit jarring.
  3. I just re-uploaded the favorite icon (creates the little UN Spacy Kite icon in your bookmarks/favorites for the site) that was wiped out during the server move. You won't see it, however, unless you delete any existing bookmarks or quicklinks and clear your browser's cache.
  4. Don't worry. . . I'm not going to crawl into the fetal position beneath my desk. I also thought it might be a bit hard to recognize the Macross up there. But. . . well. . . that's where we seperate the true fans from the casual weenies. But seriously, though I prefer something simple (dare I say "elegant") to something "overdone". . . I have no problem uploading a different banner if someone comes up with one that everyone (or a large majority) go crazy about. Now where was that favorite/bookmark icon. . .
  5. . . . and of course, as soon as I make that post, the server gets downright zippy again. Off to bed!
  6. . . . And before anyone mentions it. . . No, the new skin is not the cause of the slow performance we're seeing on the server tonight. I was noticing it before I uploaded the new skin. The server is acting like it's chugging a bit. But, that's a low-level thing that's beyond my control. Hopefully it'll just work itself out. FYI, this skin is actually much smaller (by an order of magnitude) than the light-blue default IPB skin that makes use of all those gradients on every button.
  7. We finally have a skin that matches the color scheme of the main site. I hope everyone likes it. Please let me know below! All I ask is that you. . . Try the skin for at least a little while before announcing that you hate it. Please recognize that the color-scheme is based on the main site (that was sorta the point). Take into account that I just spent about twenty straight hours suffering through the mind-numbing task of tweaking just about every freakin' button and image by hand so that it matches the new backgrounds (etc.). So, try to be constructive or at least polite while telling me that you hate it. Lest I weep openly.
  8. Yes, clearing cache is probably necessary. Most broadband people won't even notice much of a difference after they clear their cache. But if some aren't willing to tolerate slower download times for a little while on their other sites, I'm not sure what can be done. Also, everyone should take note that the URL for the forums have changed. There is no more WWW. Please delete and update your bookmarks and quicklinks. If you log in at the www one and then are redirected, that may account for being logged out. H
  9. Does your "My Assistant" otherwise work properly when you click it up there at the top? H
  10. Please post your browser versions (Help-->About). Can't help ya based on "me too."
  11. Please keep those reports coming for those still having trouble. Best, H
  12. I could see where this might seem private. But there has been a known issue with a couple of ISPs (AOL especially) that changes your IP randomly several times per day. This has wreaked havoc with IPB logins in the past. And really, I doubt we'll be able to hunt you down via you saying: "I'm on Comcast" or Cox, or AOL. But, yeah, I understand the caution. I'm the same way myself. Just grasping at straws here, but try opening a command prompt and typing: ipconfig /flushdns I wonder if this is residual entries for "www.macrossworld.com" (note that we're now www-free) in your local DNS cache. If so, that should fix it. Best, H
  13. Okay, what exactly is happening? Please fill out this form: Were you logged out in the middle of a session? How long was the duration between logins? Did you access MW from another computer between logins? Have you cleared your cookies? No. Really. Have you cleared your cookies? How did you clear your cookies (via browser controls or via link on these forums, etc.)? Have you cleared your "cache" or "temporary internet files" lately? If not, please do so. What browser are you using (please provide version via Help-->About)? Who is your ISP? Personally, I've had no problems staying logged in ever since the cookies were fixed a week or two ago. The most likely solution is clearing of cookies. But I'm guessing some here have already tried that.
  14. Sorry to hear about your medical issues. But that's no excuse for teasing us so mercilessly.
  15. If Windows, open up command prompt and type: ipconfig /flushdns I'll email this tip as well.
  16. It worked for me this morning. You're just a trouble-maker.
  17. Here's something that I'm not sure anyone has mentioned: You probably didn't expect Yune to behave so affably to the whole affair. You probably did expect to get into some trouble. Yet you went through with it anyways. . . for what? For ROBOTECH/MACROSS. Really, think about that. YOU DID IT FOR ROBOTECH! You might have been arrested. . . for Robotech. You might have a permanent record. . . for Robotech. You might have spent a night (or longer) in jail. . . for Robotech. If you think Robotech is worth any of this (or Macross for that matter). . . wow. Just wow.
  18. Why shouldn't people who do things that are utterly ridiculous (in every sense of the word) be subject to ridicule? As I get older, I grow less fond of ridiculing others. There's a meanness to it that is unbecoming. Yet, in some cases, it's just utterly deserved. This is one of those cases.
  19. So to sum up: Person A: Here are my views about Rick Hunter. Person B: Here are my views about Rick Hunter. Person A: Very well. I will throw a pie in your face until you admit that my views about Rick Hunter are better. F-cking asinine. All this blathering on about "ideals" and "doing what's right" while being pushed to "EMOTIONAL EXTREMES". . . You're talking about your opinions regarding an anime. You should (right now) drop to your knees and pray that some day you gain enough perspective and real concerns in your life that you look back on your recent asshatery and not only feel ashamed, but positively mystified that you actually felt that your behavior was conceivable, let alone justified. Because, heaven help you, if you still feel like this was a good idea five years from now, you'll be. . . well, still you.
  20. Jeez. . . did anyone else get creeped out by this? Talking is what people do when they disagree about something within civilized society. When talking breaks down (between nations. . . not anime fans) and the stakes are high, sometimes things escalate beyond "the realm of words." But, when the topic is something as ultimately pointless and meaningless as an anime, to consider doing anything "more" than talking is. . . well. . . bat-crap crazy. I mean, seriously, you got worked up enough to do this? Sweet merciful crap! Get a grip! You're not a hero. You're not a revolutionary. You're a guy who has demonstrated that you are taking your own views on your favorite anime far too seriously. We've got a "revolutionary" here who throws pies in the faces of people over an anime. . . yet he's here to announce that other message boards consider the membership here to be "jerks." Lovely. Try to grasp this concept: If you disagree with the direction of your favorite intellectual property, you vote with your wallet and you voice your opinions. If you feel it necessary to "escalate" things and to go "beyond the realm of words". . . well, you're crossing a line. . . called "sanity." Geez. . . all these years, I didn't realize all I had to do was "move beyond words" and throw a pie in George Lucas' face! Then he'd get rid of midichlorians! Edit: Clarified above (in blue)
  21. Maybe Japanese customers complain less and break their Valkryies less often because they can read the manual? Maybe it says: "Be careful! Turn it this way. Don't turn it this way."
  22. There is a setting for this. But I think we should be wary of changing it (currently at 100x100) until we get the current attachment regeneration issues figured out. I sent Shawn a PM regarding an issue that may be related. Also, the thumbnails are doing a pretty good job of representing things at their current size (IMHO). And keep in mind that if we increase the size of the the thumbnails, we're talking about increased storage "expense" for each and every image attachment. . . and there are already five gigabytes of those.
  23. So, it's now at 75% People at 1024x768 will be able to see up to 870 pixels of width before scaling starts. Best, H
  24. Here's another way to think of the setting (and this somewhat makes the description make sense). . . When an image is too big for the user's desktop resolution, it will be resized. The setting above sets the percentage of the screen that the scaled image can occupy. In so doing, it also sets the threshold (because anything over that size is considered a candidate for resizing). The setting at first appears to be saying that it will chop any image it sees by a given percentage and then display it. But that's not the case. It really could be more clear.
