  1. I've got nothing to say other than to point out that the trailer (which is supposed to represent the best a movie has to offer) goes out of its way to be funny above all else. . . and fails. . . and thus, for me, any residual hope that this movie could buck the Lucas trend is lost. I just smashed my spine through a windshield and am now sitting between two of my enemies. . . time for a (lame) joke while they stare at me dumbfounded instead of shooting/punching/capturing me! Lucas. . . cannot. . . make. . . a. . . decent. . . movie.
  2. My favorite part was the erroneous blaming of others.
  3. If you have an account over at Macross Nexus and want to download copies of any PMs, or threads, better do it before February 8, 2008. Macross Nexus is disappearing into the ether on or about that date. Best, H
  4. Let's wrap this up. The appropriate sentiments have been expressed. Thread locking is imminent (as is customary with current events threads).
  5. Subtitle change from "found killed" (which implies foul play) to "found dead" (which does not).
  6. Any purist who has a problem with the re-envisioning displayed above is in dire need of a swift kick in the nuts! Beautiful!
  7. I was a huge (but closeted - I had a rep to protect! ) TOS fan back in my junior high and high school years. I got over it as all the "new blood" came on board with TNG. I guess I just got tired of every problem being solved with techno-babble from the writers ("reverse the tachyon pulse through the deflector array!" "Of course!") rather than ingenuity that the fans could actually understand or anticipate. So, it's nice to be a fan of the original series without being prone to being extremely butt-hurt over the tiny contradictions of "canon" that so infuriate folks like the guy commenting at the link Azrael provides above. Oh, one other reason I gave up on Star Trek: All the TNG fans are Communists.
  8. I'd be remiss if I didn't point out that the other members of the staff do far more and work much harder to keep things running smoothly around here than I do. While I tackle a few of the more technical problems and sometimes can handle an issue that used to have to be handed off to Shawn, the moderating staff is the real glue that holds this place together on a day-to-day basis. So while I appreciate the sentiments, I'm not nearly as deserving of them as these fine folks.
  9. I think this exact video has been posted here before. (thread re-opened since I couldn't find the original one - if it indeed even exists) So, my two cents. Everything is a rip-off of everything. There is nothing new under the sun. I always considered Family Guy to be an attempt at a fresh take on the increasingly un-funny Simpsons. Though, Family Guy has also had some rough patches (during a much shorter run). I gave up on The Simpson a long time ago. . . around season ten. You youngsters don't know what you missed (unless you buy the DVDs!)! Anyways, when both shows are about a suburban American family with an idiot for a dad, you're going to have some cross-over. You can only write for stupid in so many ways.
  10. That's your call, Chief. My box is dented too. I'm happy to say that I've mellowed over the last several years and I didn't think twice about it. It's not like we're ever actually going to sell these things.
  11. In the upper-right corner of the thread, on the right side of the dark blue thread title bar, there is an "options" button. You can subscribe there (among other places). Unsubscribing is handled through your "My Controls" link. Once in there, look on the left-hand side.
  12. So, is AP safe to visit again?
  13. Hi Kensei, Got your PM. I logged in as you. . . went to your 'My Controls' and cleared out a ton of subscribed threads under "Subscriptions-->View Topics" on the left-hand column. I then made a few test posts as you and those subscriptions did not return. So, hopefully it's fixed. Can't explain why it wasn't working for you if that's what you were doing as well. Best, H
  14. Under 'My Controls' (upper-right), remove all your subscriptions (left column once you're in there). Once you are no longer subscribed to a topic, you should see the checkbox for subscribing as described above. H
  15. Under 'My Controls'. . . you've deleted all your subscriptions? If so, you'll need to PM your password to me so I can look into this. Best, H
  16. Is your browser for some reason remembering the checkbox below the reply input box where it says "Enable Email Notification of Replies?" If it is, uncheck it, reply, and then see if it stops remembering. Best, H
  17. Might you have been subscribed to them in the past? If so, it might just be catching you up. But will now stop. Does it continue to happen? Or did they all come at once in a big burst?
  18. Got it. Watched a few scenes. Overall very happy with it as it's official, and has no interlacing issues as the older official release did to such a horrible extent (as discussed in my review here). I guess, other than that, my hopes weren't set very high. So, I'm not disappointed. Those of you expecting so much more may just have to hold out for the HD version. Will be a few days before I can start looking at the subtitling issues. Will post more at that time. Best, H
  19. I just watched the scene but hadn't read this description in a while. I didn't notice it. Only after I came back here, re-read this description, and watched it again did I notice what you're talking about. Internet forums suck. I swear, half of us wouldn't be bothered by any of this stuff if we weren't constantly told what should bother us. Then again, I'm probably guilty of the same thing whenever I talk about various other topics. H
  20. Bless you! I now have a local copy so I'll never need to pester you again. I'd offer to put them up on MN. . . but we may be shutting that down soon. But, if they ever disappear from this thread, I'm sure I could find some room for them somewhere on some site. Best, H
