  1. On the subject of Gripens. I still have not received that SAAB book! Has any of you (besides David who got it first and posted the link) gotten it?
  2. I am trying to grab the Votoms shows as well. Not easy over here. Its great to have an anime where the main characters are PROFESSIONAL SOLDIERS who are NOT TEENAGERS!!! And no SINGING THE ENEMIES INTO SUBMISSION!!!
  3. *Superhornet and Tomcat shown side-by-side.* Maverick doing presentation to a group.* Maverick points to the Rhino and says 'These new birds have 10% more power than the old Tomcat'. But some people on the internet will get to furiously complain that the Tomcat drawing used showed an F-14B/D instead of an A model so the 10% more power quote is way off. Anyway, I am pretty sure if they did a Top Gun 2 it will be with Raptors. I know! I know! Don't point out the flaws in this. Its HOLLYWOOD ok?
  4. Thanks! Was wondering when that would show up. Now lets see how the XXJ would turn out. I was hopeing for a tail layout closer to the YF-23's. For now, it looks like the butt end of a Flanker mated to the front of a 22.
  5. I know the Boeing proposal was supposedly better but damn that thing looks rather ugly.
  6. Agreed. They could buy 20 more Varyags but the kind of experience the USN had from 1942 to 2007 in operating carriers is something no money can buy.
  7. I was referring to your comment on 'decades after WW2'. Not arguing that autoloading large calibre artillery was in common usage during WW2. The Mk16 was pretty amazing stuff for late 40s tech. And it was reliable as well. It gave the Des Moines the hitting capacity of nearly 4 equivalent ships. That was quite a leap in capability.
  8. OK its a rifle instead of a cannon but what about the 8"/55 Mk16? That was 1945.
  9. Have there ever been any forged steel parts used in toys before?
  10. Forward swept wings again.....
  11. Paolo Parente's DUST? Those were small ones though, Votoms sized. Don't even talk about 16 inch guns. I suppose one could argue that the BBs were not making steam and there was no time to load and man the big rifles. But there are still heaps and heaps of 20mm and 40mm barrels (which were modelled in the animation) on those ships. After all, they bothered to use SMGs and M2s on that mech.
  12. We did not complain that the 'hands were too small' on this one!
  13. If they can have Mecha-Nazi, I think they should have some Giant Submersible Aircraft/Mecha Carrier. Or maybe the mech has a giant disposable rocket pack?
  14. We haven't even got to the Invasion Stripes on the Mustangs yet! And those were P-51Ds. In 1943. OK ok, if they can have Giant Robots in 1943, they can have P-80s in 1942 I suppose. Its damn good animation. Lots of attention paid to the little details on the ground and structures. I would pay to watch a full length slugfest with that kind of animation quality.
  15. If only Mitsubishi bought Grumman.
  16. Because I also like to shoot B-17s down with Mk108s!
  17. I have this thing for flying the big 4 engined US bombers. Manning the gun stations in SWOTL was so much fun even if the stupid modelling for the game didn't allow an unloaded B17 to fly home on 2 or even 1 engine out. I am quite disappointed that after so much mods and upgrades and add-ons, they still have not let us fly the big birds (except for that flying mass coffin the TB-3, which is fun in its own way but its no Superfortress)
  18. There should be an Act of Congress that forbids such desecration! Imagine if Matsushita bought over the Chrysler or Empire State building and renamed it the JVC Centre! Or Pokemon Plaza or Kancho Central..... edit: Typo in the earlier question. I was asking for the Shinden, not the Shiden. How can they make a 1946 game without that!!! No torpedo bombers for the USN??? What are they supposed to sink the Kido Butai with then?!? Harsh Language?!?!
  19. Dammit, sounds good. I NEED this game now. Is the Shiden in it?
  20. I only have up to the Forgotten Battles. Never saw the 24s and 29s. Are they in the Pacific Battles game? The B-17 on vet or ace mode is already stupid. Anything under 400 yards and they would either do a head-shot on the pilot or leave one Jumo-004 burning >75% of the time. And its not like I am hanging about at stall speed either! You mean it gets worse than that with the 24/29????
  21. The Corsair does everything better!
  22. For big engagements, you just have to micro-manage every single asset. It models down to the last helicopter or fighter. But its not impossible.
  23. Well, if you play Il-2, they have several of the early 30s monoplanes and biplanes which you can Turn n Burn in. I absolutely love flying the 262. 4 x Mk108s are lovely. Damn thing is that wingmen in 262s' never bloody keep their speed up and always get blown up. Stupid AI! The bomber gunner AI in IL2 is also rather insane. Way too accurate. Have to do a near vertical dives going really fast in a damn jet to have a good chance of not getting hit.
  24. Nami Toi can copy all they want. If they present a _Good_ product in the end, It is all good. But they produce piles o' dung so we can batty! In any case, since CM is going to come up with a Tread, it makes buying an Aoshima Legioss not that attractive an idea, no matter how good they fixed it.
  25. I played the original DOS harpoon back in 90. Had great fun sending in swarms of Backfires at ultra low level, hitting the afterburners and charging in at the carrier groups. And of course, trying to move the Iowa into gun range of the Soviet Fleet.
