  1. I caught a couple of episodes on CN as well, and I had a good time with it. A mix of giant robot shtick and and a mundane environment. And to top it all off, no whiny mech pilots, just a dude who's all too eager to kick some ass. I'm definitely gonna see more of this show.

  2. Great news, I loved FM3 although I don't know if I can rack up another total of 250+ hrs. for this installment (or for any other game for that matter). But then again, seeing an enemy Wanzer crumple into a heap after being slammed by giant brass knuckles is pretty damn satisfying.

  3. Goddamn, that thing's huge. :o

As always, you're doing a great job on building that Firefox kit, VHD. Can't wait to see the finished product.

    Thanks, A7, I can't wait either. :)

Isamu, the only fine details this kit has are the panel lines and the etchings in the cockpit. Its seriously lacking in the detail dept. I even had to get my own decals and cut up my own mini-exhaust nozzles.

  4. DH, I’m going to stick with the mottled look with mixed panels of matte black and titanium. The titanium is going to come from the Testors Metallizer line. Can anyone share with me what they use to buff the Metallizers with once you spray it on? I figured a plain terry cloth would work, but there might be something better to use.

Shown below is a comparison shot. The valk is also on an elevated plane on level with the Firefox.

  5. One week later, I’m left with a low-visibility Firefox, woo-hoo! Well, not really, it’s just the last primer coat, but at least everything’s smoothed out and in one piece now. The removal of the cockpit masking will probably be the last step. After much testing, I’ve found the white metal landing gear can be installed without folding in on itself, and that’s the next step.

  6. Just a follow-up for this thread from the old boards:

    http://www.macrossworld.com/cgi-bin/mwf/ik...=ST;f=17;t=5586

As shown below, the canards and wings have been successfully pinned. Some stiff bristles from a hairbrush were used as pins for the canards, and trimmed metal rods were used to pin the wings. After drilling the appropriate holes, canards and wings were super-glued to the main body. A lot of filling and sanding still had to be done though to fill the gaps.

  7. Let's see, right off the bat:

-Better mechanism for front wheel deployment, one that wouldn't cause a gap in the cockpit assembly.

-Better stickers, sheets that are thinner ans less apt to peel.

-Yeah, bigger hands would be a good idea.

That's about it for me, and yes, the 1S head seam doesn't bother me in the least.

  8. Do any of you guys know a website or online forum where i can keep up to date on this company and hopefully get news on wether or not the other 2 eva units will be released?

i got the eva 05 today, and i noticed how many of the parts are shared by the 02, neck, chest, pelvis, legs....

kinda makes me scared that they will simply release these two because they are so similar.

anyone know a place i can keep an eye on this (that isn't in japanise)

thanks agian for the info, you guys been very informative.

Try out www.figures.com, they're usually on top of any domestic Kaiyodo releases.

  9. Is there an alternative solution that will even tighten up the landing gear lock-down and prevent the diagonal seam for splitting?

Yeah, I wish Yamato chose a better method of keeping the front wheels locked. I've been thinking of a way to add some bumps on the front landing gear door that could lock into some dimples carved into the sides of the wheel well once the gear has been lowered. BTW, only my DYRL valks have the nose seam prob, the low-vis' seam is neglegible.

  10. The parts that need to be looked at are the wheel assembly and the underside of the pilot seat. The areas highlighted in red are the surfaces that could be sanded to reduce the gap in the nose when the wheels are down. It’s just a matter of sanding the right amount to attain the smallest gap possible (or none at all) and get enough grip for the wheels to stay in place when lowered. The cockpit area can be assembled separately to see if the sanded amount is just right. If it’s not enough, just take it apart and repeat.

One of my 1/48s actually had the opposite problem: the front wheels were too loose when lowered. It could support the valk just fine, but rolling it forward would make it take a nose dive. Anyways, I hope this helps.

  11. Hey KingNor? What is the mecha directly to the right of Unit 2? The camoflauge armor looks pretty damned sweet.......  ;)

it's a paper MetalGear Rex from MSG on ps1.

got it as part of the E3 pack for the new 'snake eater' game.

    Here are some pics.

thanks very much for the line up. i've handled the other evas aswell, while they are cool, they can't touch the poseability of the one i have.. the question remains, what is the likely hood of the rest of the evas being made in the sculpt i of the 02 i have.

the reason i ask is because if they arn't releasing the others i'm going to go get the 05 while its available. if they are releasing the others, i'm going to wait for those instead. i cant' read the websites that are listed on the box so i dont' know what to do right now.

thanks again for all the info.

Not a prob KingNor, I got nothing else better to do while I watch over my nephew <_< .

  12. is it "unlikely" or "unknown" if they will release the rest of the evas in the style of the one i have.

the o2 that i have is EXTREEMLY poseable, everything from standing up nice and strait to the stylized pose i pictured above, and nearly any pose you can come up with, though the arms are just a tad limited.

i'd love to have all 3 plus maybe the eva 06+/02 combo with the eva all trashed up.

now i digress...  so is it simply not known if the rest of the serise will be released?  and what should i call mine?  serise 2 ?  gen 2?

Here's the Kaiyodo eva lines so far:

    TV Series:

Eva-00 thru Eva-04 (these had metallic and clear colored variants)

3rd Angel Sachiel (sculpted by Art Asylum)

Eva-01 Matsumara Version (looks like its going berserk and breaking out of bindings)

Eva-00 thru Eva-04 re-releases (same figures but different packaging)

    Rei and Asuka

    End of Evangelion:

    Eva-02 (different sculpt), Eva-05, Eva-05 with damaged Eva-02

The TV series evas are quite posable as well, so maybe you could team up your Eva-02 with those figures. LMK if I've missed anything, but I don't know whether Kaiyodo will continue the End of Evangelion line.

  13. What you got is Kaiyodo/Xebec's second eva-02 figure. Kaiyodo previously released eva-00 thru eva-04 for the first wave, and were re-released in some fancy "tube" packaging. Aside from your eva-02, Kaiyodo also put out another figure from the movie, the eva-05. I don't know if Kaiyodo will release anymore figures from the movie though.

The previous releases are easy enough to find, but they can be quite fragile. I think only Sega and Kaiyodo/Xebec put out full blown figures of evas, but you can definitely tell them apart (Sega's evas are standing up straight and aren't as dynamic looking). If ever you want to go all out, you could always plunk down the cash for the Bandai chogokins.
