  1. Say, can we hope for a Macross Zero weapons set, where it includes weapons for both the VF-0S and SV-51?
  2. I've embarassed myself. Thank you for putting me in my place. I read, but apparently not carefully enough.
  3. Please delete me.
  4. "The Navy and Marines, meanwhile, have both opted for a specialized external gun pod on their CV and STOVL variants. The same GAU-12 cannon is carried, but in a special tear-drop pod that can be mounted on a dedicated centerline pylon between the weapons bays. The pod is unique in that it employs stealth characteristics and should allow the aircraft to maintain low observability. Other advantages of the gun pod include room for a larger ammunition supply and the ability to remove the pod on missions where a gun is not necessary. " From Aerospace Web. So it looks like the F-35 can only carry one external gunpod afterall, since the centerline hardpoint will be dedicated to the gun. Of course, this begs the question of where on the centerline will the gunpod be placed, since the liftfan in the middle of the aircraft will probably cut into the centerline.
  5. These two are a micron better than that genocidal nut. But that don't mean crap, because these two are pretty shitty to begin with. That goes for most of the 0083 cast too. But I'll be damned if that OVA series doesn't have some of the best damn animation ever.
  6. If the centerline pylon is the same as the others, definitely. Maybe even up to five is possible.
  7. Well, it's been a long time for me too, but I heard that the Comanche can do everything the Apache can, and better. Given the Apache's considerably low RCS, the Comanche's is 600 times smaller than that. Of course, take that with a chunk of salt, because it's been a long time, and I don't remember where I read it. I don't know if the fact that Boeing had a hand in the project had anything to do with its death. I mean, let's face it, of the load of fighters in the US arsenal today, how many of those are Boeing? The F-14 is Grumman. The F-15 is McDonnell Douglas. The F-16 is General Dynamics. The F/A-18 is McDonnell Douglas. Sure, the F-15 and F/A-18 are made by Boeing now, but only after McDonnell Douglas has win the contract for them. Only the new generation stealth stuff is really Lockheed, but let's face it, they have the stealth knowledge. Can you blame them? PS: I thought the Comanche was a Lockheed/Sikorsky project?
  8. If you guys want articulation, accuracy (not to mention beauty), and affordability, I'd like to recommend the HGUC Gundam Mk-II. I know it's not a toy, but since it's Bandai, it might as well be. It builds into a very solid, perfectly playable toy. At 1/144, it isn't big enough to dwarf any Macross item and become a thunder stealer, but it's not so small that it lacks details. I know the prospect of building a model freaks people out, but if you have a nail clipper and an X-acto, you'd be poised to build a nice looking Mk-II, with no proportion problems the HCM present. EDIT: Did I mention that the kit is only 1000 yen, and it comes with beam rifle, beam saber, bazooka, AND a Vulcan pod?
  9. Anyone but that genocidal nut.
  10. Sentinel line is more or less Katoki's interpretation of the Z/ZZ era. There exist ZZ and Z ver Ka., as well as the Mk-II, Quebeley, Barzam, and a myriad other mechs. It's just not as published as the more well known ones. They don't push the envelope anymore than the original design already did. He just made them more likeable.
  11. V2's wings are not built in. It's an after effect of its propulsion system. The ZZ Gundam has always been overpowered, but a forehead beam cannon is more realistic than a planet busting Buster Rifle. The world doesn't work that way. Humans have a tendency to want to force their beliefs on others. So... UC Gundam is the real Gundam.
  12. Actually, Kazumi Fujita designed the Zeta Gundam. Okawara designed the transformation gimmick. The Fujita Zeta is butt ugly as well. I only like the Zeta Gundam ver Ka, which the MG kit came pretty close to. Mamoru Nagano should only stick with FSS. I can't stand his Gundam designs (I hate the Shiki with a burning passion), and the L-Gaims can only be described as L-Lame. Can't say I care for the latter three, but the Bound Doc has a charm that I can really appreciate. Couldn't have said that last line any better myself.
  13. Well, they say to me "hey, that old show you like really suck because the Gundam doesn't have a Buster Rifle and my HeavyArms can kick its ass and the animation is crappy. You should watch this, and you'll like it better because even though I saw only one Gundam series, I know more than you." Please. Why do I keep repeating myself? I thought my point was pretty clear.
  14. Only to get replies along the line of "HEAVYARMZ ROXXORZ!! FIRST GUNDAM SUXXORZ!!", etc... I get jaded really quickly. Been there, done that, moved on. Call me an elitist UC jerk, because that's what I am, and nothing will change that. Nothing will also change the fact that many AU fans won't listen.
  15. Too original, I'm afraid. I hate most of the Z/ZZ designs, as well as all of the bug-eyed mechs from V. There's a reason I don't go beyond 0083. I'm all for variety, but there's a line between originality and ugly, and it seems that many designers cannot help but straddle the lines, garnering elements from both schools of thought.
  16. I need to ask for examples, since the only time that happens is in Wing. You havethose in UC too, but they only come from really powerful Mobile Armors that range in the 40 meters height scale. FYI, AU stands for Alternate Universe, which is the collective term for the, well, alternate universes, which includes G's Future Colony (?), X's After War, and W's After Colony. Nope. You're thinking of SEED. Bandai saw an opportunity to bring Gundam over, and at the time, the only markettable series was Wing, so they brought it over. G sucked, X was incomplete, the newest UC series needed massive amounts of backstory. Wing was the only candidate. SEED was created to be a marketting blitz, and it's been very successful at that. Undoubtedly, SEED's creators saw an international market and included sex and violence in it to sell.
  17. Can you really blame us for badmouthing the shows? Problems with the shows themselves aside (for the record, I don't hate all AU shows. I enjoyed SEED and X quite a bit. The latter more so probably because it's so similar to UC), it's the way new found Wing fans act that really pisses me off. No offense, but Wingers who come to the internet and can only say things like "Gundam Heavyarmz r0xx0rzzz!!! Your Gundam suck!" and "oh my god heero is so dreamy" really should be shot dead. Or at least, they should get a clue and listen to the UC fans. More often than not, the new fans don't even give a flying crap what the UC fans have to say because they're so wrapped up in their little AU niche and if a Gundam series doesn't have pretty boys or flashy (but ugly) Okawara designed Gundams with a lame-ass plot, they deem it not worth watching, and in the end, we UC fans get jaded really quickly. Not to mention, most of the time, the Winger is an illiterate, immature moron, so it becomes useless to even try to talk to him/her. Believe me, given the chance to convert a Winger, I would, but I hate talking to idiots. I've recommended UC Gundam to plenty of people, and they end up moving away from the AU niche and get into the good stuff. It's kinda like the hardcore Macross fans and the newbie Robotech fans. You tell me the Macross fans don't tell the Robotech fans off when said fans can only say things along the lines of the aforementioned Winger, and I tell you that you're lying. I completely agree with you about Char here, and I've had my fair share of discrimination from the Gundam community for disliking CCA (to be honest, what the frakk is there to like?), but that's a mob mentality more so than a UC only mentality. Hell, if UC fans fight amongst themselves, what chance do impatient AU fans have? You don't have to support anything. Gundam fans have their community, as much as Macross fans have theirs. No one is forcing me to buy Macross, but I love the models anyways because they're beautiful and I love them. No one is forcing anyone to buy Gundam, but if the design draws him/her, all the better. I just warn the new fan to be wary of how he/she expresses her opinions.
  18. Is this game open source? Hint, hint ;-)
  19. There's no need for the quotes around the real in "real Gundam fans." As far as I'm concerned, real Gundam fans only care about the UC shows and don't give a flying crap about the girls' Gundam shows. StarDUST memories. And Char's Counter Attack IS boring. Worst DVD I ever bought. All the main characters are annoying as hell, save Amuro and Bright. I don't know why everyone's so hopped up on that thing... But I digress. I recommend Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket. That and Gundam 08th MS Team are my favorites. I love MS Gundam movies, but I always push for reanimating the show. '79 animation is really dirt old, and it shows. But it's the first Gundam, and it's the one that started it all. Suffice it to say, I don't really like Gundam all that much when it gets past UC 0083.
  20. I'll bet you've been watching the wrong shows.
  21. Those are already pretty graphic. I mean, to be frank, when was the last time you saw decapitation in a Gundam series? Boiling blood filling up the inside of a pilot's helmet? If I recall, those scenes were featured prominently in several flashbacks as well. If the first scenes had to be cut, then the subsequent flashback scenes will need to be cut as well, which leads to severe butchery of the series. And that's just the tip of the ice berg.
  22. Can we assume that the VF-1 Valkyries have rearward looking cameras, then, because I think that those planes have crap as far as rearward vision goes too? Weird, because the VF-0 has raised bubble canopy.
  23. What about Tohru's (?) decapitation? Nicol's boiling blood?
  24. Still wrong. Exhaust.
