  1. Hasegawa canopies aren't too bad to mask. Use Tamiya tape to cover the edges well, making sure that there are no folds in the tape, then use a toothpick to burnish the tape where the canopy frame is. Use a SHARP X-acto blade to cut the tape and remove it from the frame, then spray with black and then frame color. Sometimes, I usually run the knife at the edge of the tape again to cut the paint, so to speak, so that when I remove the tape, I'll have a nice, sharp, raised edge that simulates a canopy frame. Think painting black outside is hard? Try painting black inside car windows. Thank heavens Tamiya has the sense to include window trim masks for most new kits. PS: I find that when spraying, laying down mist coats instead of wet coats makes the edges along the masking tape almost invisible. Sometimes I've heard it helps if you remove the tape before the paint has fully dried, but I've always been afraid of wet paint getting where it shouldn't be, so I haven't tried that yet.
  2. Awesome cars being driven by non-awesome people doesn't make the cars less awesome.
  3. I say give William Agent ONE's admin job.
  4. Home Depot. I've heard good things about Duplicolor primer too, which can be found at automotive stores, but I've been too busy enjoying the Painter's Touch to really bother trying it. David, like I said, the primer is VERY forgiving when it comes to spraying techniques.
  5. I use Painter's Touch gray primer. It's also available in white, but I think the latter is more rare. In anycase, it lays down a very thin layer, covers everything, and is very smooth and forgiving of mistakes made when spraying. Samples of my primed works can be seen here: And:
  6. YES! Totoro is finally getting a decent DVD release! I have the older Fox DVD, which isn't too terrible but I want subbed Totoro, damn it.
  7. What's wrong with the F430? By all accounts, it's better than the 360 in every aspect, especially the finicky gearbox.
  8. Really really. I went through a phase where I was really into the fan made films, and they all mentioned rotoscoping, so I looked it up, and there it was. Thanks to the technique, even plastic Hasbro sabers look cool.
  9. You're all forgetting perhaps the most well known use of rotoscoping ever: the lightsaber blades in the original Star Wars trilogy were rotoscoped. "Rotoscoping has also been used to allow a special visual effect (such as a glow, for example) to be guided by the matte or rotoscoped line. One classic use of traditional rotoscoping was in the original three Star Wars films, where it was used to create the glowing lightsaber effect, by creating a matte based on sticks held by the actors." From Wikipedia.
  10. I come to MacrossWorld to bask in AOne's awesomeness.
  11. I don't know. I've always really liked the way 25th Anniversary Countach looks. Not dated at all.
  12. What are you talking about? Nissan decides what gets the Infinity badge.
  13. The G35's interior looks great. The front end is much better looking as well. I think the Kabura looks funky, but in a good way.
  14. FRP == Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic. It's a composite material. Fiberglass under, resin on top.
  15. Hey Poonman, are you buying a Graflex or are you building one from scratch?
  16. Yuck. That's practically forever and a half. Where did you order it? Online store? I thought we're generally supposed to phone orders in? I want all three replicas. Graflex, MPP, and Obi-Wan's grenade. The only thing is that they cost quite a bit of money. Perhaps a group buy is in order, but we might have to wait, what, several years?
  17. Wow. The Graflex looks great. Excellent choice. Glad to know the thing doesn't come with drilled and tapped holes. How long was the turn around time when you ordered that thing?
  18. Is that saber still available or is it a Limited Edition? I like the Graflex clamp better than that Episode 3 thing.
  19. I didn't know there was a "As Built By" Obi-Wan mini saber. That's not an Episode III?
  20. Hot little Acura. I love it. I wouldn't mind owning one.
  21. Is Luke's Graflex announced for miniaturization? I don't really care for his pop's.
  22. Got a mini ANH Vader's for Christmas. I LOVE that thing. I will definitely buy more. Now, about these new CE's or whatever. Any news yet on whether they will be cheap enough to own? I want an ANH Vader (my personal, absolute favorite), an ANH Luke (a very, very close second), and a ROTS Obi-Wan (a close third), plus Yoda and others, probably, but I don't want to spend more than, say, $50 each. Personally, I wish more people would make antique flash replicas. Parks is much too expensive.
