At the risk of going OT, i wonder where ppl got the impression that Zolans were descended from marsupials. Was it just because of all the animals with pouches in planet Zola? I'm quite sure when we saw Graham and his daughter naked in the hot springs, there were no pouches. And trivia for some people who didn't know, marsupials have only one orifice for poo and pee and mating. Well the snake...maybe they can't live outside Zola. IIRC the space ranger girl didn't wear the snake into space? If I would fault 00 with anthing, it would be their characters are generic Sunrise-style art. And at least they are consistent. Sunrise did something about it by getting CLAMP to design Code Geass characters, as stylised as they were. But big eyes? I'm not really seeing it. Its typical anime designs to me. He was just the mecha designer then. Some food for thought. KK's loli micronisation is said to be due to a genetic flaw. KK should've been a 2nd-3rd generation zentran by now meaning she probably was born from at least one zentran parent, rather than being cloned like the 1st gen zent. On a matter that has been bugging me, i hope they explain the characters' individual paint schemes for the planes. Finally got to watching it and....late to the party as usual. I noticed a drop in frame rates in the animation as well as the art quality in some scenes....but not too annoying that warrants any complaints. 1/2 episode worth of training before Alto joins the military, just like in SDF Macross. Loved the space combat. We get to see a floating zentran corpse with the Nos-Geur's rifle intact....i think its the one usually mounted on the shoulders and can be held on the hands as well? Ozma mentions the weapon is very precious. Why? Cause its an artifact? Lost Technology? Hmmm. One wonders why they are still using Q-raus as battlesuits. You'd think they would've made a miclone version or something. Guess protoculture technology IS the best, despite trying to bootleg them. Klan Klein is like the epitome of the perfect otaku gf. Well...the dome is circular for one...and 2ndly the angle that he was firing the vajra from . But it is strange as Mickhail was crouched on a different axis from Alto and Ozma. He should be seeing them as if the image was rotated 90 degrees rather than the right side up.

For me the protection is 2ndary, not the main reason. If i punched someone with my bare fist compared to punching with a brass knuckle, the difference in effects are quite obvious. That's how I've always regarded a PPB punch...the mecha version of a brass knuckle. That said, i'm not so sure if that will work with a dagger for extra penetration. But your explanations would work too i suppose.

I wanna discuss the dagger Ozma uses and the possiblity that it might be a PPB on a dagger. Well 1stly, i have to ask, what's the purpose of a PPB punch? A PPB i suppose protects the manipulator/hand when its punching an object, as well as forming a "denser" material impacting on a less dense object. Best analogy i can think of, if you tried to punch a brick wall with your barehands, you're gonna get a bloody fist with wall probably undamaged. But if you had a metal gauntlet and assuming you had the strength, your hands would be fine and you at least get to damage the brick wall rather than get a bloody fist. So with that in mind, if the dagger used by Ozma was a PPB dagger, would it work? A PPB punch is more of impact damage whereas a dagger is piercing damage. I think a PPB on a dagger is quite pointless. Would covering a dagger with stronger material/shield make it better as a penetrating weapon? Because if my interpretation of a PPB is correct, I don't think it works like a beam saber.

I think you and most people are confused with the "cel shading" term. What you think to be celshading is is actually a very simple term, "ink-and-paint", which is to ink the scenes then colour it with paint on the cel.
