Max seems to be available for preorder at Plamoya:

Pricey! What's the MSRP on this?

It's finally closed. Wow. Restock PO lasted for more than 16 hours. Nice.
That didn't keep me from missing on it yet again.

It always seemed to me that the Evo is bigger than the MPC and CM's.

Yeah, it's nerve wrecking.

Ah, my bad. Thanks, no3Ljm.

Wow! I didn't noticed the markup. It was under 350 when I preordered it and even then it seemed too much. I could pass up some of the flaws, like the Shogo figure being subpar for today standards, or the torso sitting way too high (plus all the small design issues a toy this complex is bound to have), but not at 350 bucks.

Can I interest you on checking the latest Hi-Metal R news? You might like it.
I know! I'm super hyped about it. And so happy I didn't shell out for the Evo. Two VF-2ss toys a few months apart from each other after 24 years. Crazy.

You know, now I have the feeling it'll end up in the discount bin soon after release, if it gets released at all.

Fewture's Garland (which was slated for release at the end of last month), was pushed back to April. I wonder what it means. Anyway I cancelled my preorder. I like the redesign, but I couldn't justify the price: http://hlj.com/product/FEW96571

The thing that is throwing it off the most is the angle of the nose but the primary problem is how it all converts to soldier mode. The Toynami is really good in soldier mode, this toy looks pretty terrible in that mode. The head is low, the landing gear too small, and basically it looks like it's trying really hard to compete with a toy from 10 years ago instead of today's toys.
That's Evolution for you. As much as I love the VF-2ss design I couldn't talk myself into getting one. It was a bad toy from the prototype stage and it showed. Of all toys, all the past Legiosses taught me not to pay too much attention to the sculpt, because a good toy is all about design (sturdiness, choice of materials, transformation, tolerances, etc) and design wise this guy doesn't seem to bring anything new to the table (i.e. the tail fins doesn't seem to have a locking mechanism like the MPC and CM's). Don't get me wrong, I'd LOVE to ditch all my Toynamis and replace them for a good Legioss line and I REALLY hope this is it, but as it stands I think I'll wait for the reviews too.

Missed on Max. Still, I paid for my Millia. I think it'll be easier to get Max later on than the other way around.

What's so special about it ?
It's a tricky part given the transformation system of the VF-2ss. I'm not sure which route Bandai took with their version but it can't look worse than Evolution's. As much as I love the design, I had to skip on that one because in my opinion, it lacks in all the areas that makes the VF-2ss so awsome looking. Bandai's is looking better so far.
The VF-1 EX's are an easy pass for me. Not into Delta at all. But that means more time to save for the classic stuff, so it's all good.

This would be mighty early for a mid-September of next year announcement. We know the March (Miria) and April (Missile effects) releases for next year. There might be another April release but otherwise we have several months before we get to what will come out in September 2017. I'm guessing all we're going to see is M&M 1J and missile effects with release dates at the next publicity events and they'll keep us guessing at what's next through the holidays (though they might show some more displays of awesome "possible" toys at the Tamashii event).
No hurry here. Still trying to keep up with this line.

Still not biting. One red stripped VF-1J is good enough for me.

Apparently the DYRL head has a retractable visor piece for fighter mode. I'm sticking with the TV head anyway, but it's still very cool.

I want an SDF-1 playset like the one in the old promo pics or something similar. Make it in separate pieces to build with plenty of storage compartments
Same here. I'm planning to build one myself one day.

Paid for my two CF's. Now that Bandai decided to go Dougram this time, I'll try to hunt down those damn M&M's.

Lo mismo pense yo, especialmente como es un web exclusive.
Tendría que venir con el VF-1a Max, más que con el VF-1j.

Mykombini now says 100% up front for Millia. This morning it was 50%. I had every intention of getting the whole SDF line, including the M&M's, but since I missed on Max and Millia is so expensive, I'm finding more and more difficult to justify them.

I just hope it's fun to play with and sturdy enough. I'm tired of High-end crumbling collectibles. I'm all about "user friendly" toys now. It seems to be "magnets free" this time and held together by pegs which gives me oh, so much joy! Freeing's E-X Garland also looks like a fun little toy, BTW.
-
I like the sculpt overall. It amazes me it has hinged fingers! How tall is Slave Maneuver mode supposed to be again?

I finally snagged one at hlj. Wohoo! These will be my only M&M's since I don't care to pay an arm and a leg for those in 1/60.
