  1. I'll go back to a really old post--in the UN-OFFICIAL COLOR SCHEME thread--for these examples...

C'mon Yamato. Give us a 1/60 in one of THESE schemes.

Every single one of these schemes is infinitely better than what Yamato has come up with thus far for the YF-19. I don't see why it's so hard for Yamato to apply real world marking principles to their jets and come up with some slick designs. If they released a 1D or a -19 in anything close to as cool as the examples you provided, they would be a must buy.

  2. These paint schemes are dissapointing to say the least. How much imagination does it take to use the same pattern and just change the colors? Don't even get me started on Yamato's color choices; blue and red? Orange and black? Yamato either needs to hire a good graphic designer or stop with these sad attempts to come up with their own color schemes. Is the currently released stand alone -19 free of bugs? If yes, I'll just buy that.

  3. Double Nuts="00", in numerical designation for Navy aircraft, any plane with double nuts is usually the CAG(Carrier Air Group) commander aircraft, typically in high viz. For example if you saw 2 Jolly Rogers aircraft, 1 with "113" as designation, it's most likely a low viz plane, but "100" would be high viz, with the CO's craft, "101" having high viz but not as much as the "100" aircraft.

Close. "Double nuts" is redundant. Two zeros is just nuts, it's implied by pluralizing the word nut. We only ever added "triple" or more when there were more than two zero's. We never really referred to nuts or "One" (aircraft 101) as "high viz" either, they were simply our "show birds."

  4. I think because of some unexplained plot contrivance they decided to bump him strait to squadron leader so he was doing basic training and command training at the same time.

The whole thing can easily be explained away with the necessities of war. Here is a population that is stranded on a ship in the outer rim of the Solar system, surrounded by an enemy with a largely unknown technology that is obviously vastly superior. The real question is, why was the large majority of the population NOT drafted or at least used heavily in a civil defense capacity? As for Hikaru's quick rise: accelerated advancement and lax regulations for comissioning officers. If this sounds far fetched, consider Viet Nam. My dad joined the Marines in late '67 and by the end of bootcamp, although earning an advancement to E-2, he was offered commissioning through OCS by simply taking a college equivalency exam. Why, because infantry platoon commanders were dying at an alarming rate at the time. Do the Marines, (or any branch of the service for that matter,) who are comprised of a %100 volunteer force, do that now? Hell no.

  5. I said in the very post you quote, the -1D is a combat trainer and so IS equipped with weapons. The VT-1 and VE-1 were never shown with weapons.

Speaking of the -1D, I just got an email from Overdrive that they plan to start shipping the 1/60 VF-1D on Monday, with all orders going out no later than Wednesday.

    Vostok 7

I understand that you said it in the text I quoted, that's why I quoted that text, thanks though ;)

A picture from the actual show was provided to reinforce your claim. A picture is a little more concrete than "'cause some guy named Vostok 7 says so" know what I mean?

Anyway, my question hasn't been answered, will the Yammie D be packed with a GBU-11? I ask because I can't recall whether or not I've seen it pictured with the toy is all.

Thanks for the scoop from Overdrive! Glad I preordered with them!

  6. Bingo. "Variable Trainer-1". The VF-1D was a combat trainer, so it WAS equipped with weapons. The VT-1 is a pure flight trainer, and so it doesn't fit any weapons. Also, the VE-1 doesn't equip any weapons either.

    Vostok 7

Wasn't Hikaru's D actually uploaded with a gunpod during his nap in the cockpit, and present during his first encounter piloting the D? Should the D come with a GBU-11?

EDIT: Google search answered my own question.

  7. Here's a better pic of the VF-25G

Wasn't the whole point of starting this new thread, other than keeping it separate from the model, and 1/100 to keep all new pics in the first post? Not to nitpick but I really was liking being able to go to the first page and see the updates without having to go through page after page and read all of the nitpicks about big crotches and what-not. Can we please get an update for the first page?

I think these are looking awesome though... particularly this one

    -edited to add some admiration-

  8. I just know there's GOT to be someone out there with a -0A with broken shoulders. I need a replacement head for mine. He looks silly, please help.

Also, if somebody wants to be REALLY helpful, I also need a replacement for the right side lower fast pack/armor piece for a YF-21. mostly though, I need the head laser.

    Please? Anyone?

  9. There aren't nearly enough Orguss toys out there. I love the old Takatoku Orgroid and even the tiny Megahouse Orgroid, but there needs to be some choices between those. I'd love to see what Bandai or even Yamato would do with the license.

Nah, I'd like to see CM's do all of the mecha in a common scale (1/48?) with a quality level on a par with the brave Gokin Patlabor stuff. I'm pretty excited how their Dorvack release turns out.

  10. The title says it all. The Alpha can be any box version, obviously OG is preferred though. Also looking for some of the following:

    Spiral Zone Figs

    RED 1/24 Nove from Dorvack

    1/48 DX Victory Gundam

    Zillion Tricharger

    1/40 Mass Production Nickick

    Bandai Musha Command Gundam

    Bandai Musha Knight Gundam

I have a decent sized collection of vintage and new, so if you are looking to trade, we might be able to help each other out...

  11. I'm all about scale, including mixing mecha from various series. I feel that same scale mecha in various heights and sizes make for a more dynamic display with greater depth, and giving the feel of a miniaturized mecha museum. As somebody who works on Super Hornets, I often go to NAS Fallon in Nevada where I see varied and different jets with radical differences in sizes and always love to see the differences in size and shape, which accentuates each design through contrast in form.

    But that's just me
