  1. suweet!! I dig the SW lego sets, although I haven't been collecting the newer ones for quite some time... (Still annoyed that I didn't snatch up a Millenium Falcon grrrrrr!!!) My Lego collection is pretty extensive though (although I generally use the sets as parts for original mech designs and a few Orguss inspired ones as well...) Don't flame me though, as I also use Mega Blocks sets for their detented joints, military green and Navy blue pieces... Cool site!!!

  2. There are a couple of fans here who make these, I forget their names off the top of my head, but one makes stickers (considered to be better than the Yamatos due to the fact that they are made of thinner material, more like the old Takatoku style,) and another that makes water decals (I think he makes the standard ones, as well as sets for customizing...) I've been meaning to pick these up, but I seem to keep blowing my cash on toys as I collect retro, and new stuff (basically I'm a mecha whore.) Wise decision to post this question at this juncture, by the way. And welcome to the boards. :)

Edit: Looks like Takatoys and Anasazi were the ones I was thinking of, Eugimon and RT Shark beat me to the punch!!!

  3. ...can't stop myself any more... This toy blows. Imperfect TF blows. PVC blows. 1/100 scale blows. 40+ bucks for this piece of s$%t blows. The fact that I'll pro'ly have to wait the better part of a year for a decent VF-0 BLOWS. And if I decide that I have 40+ bucks to blow, I'll buy this and some M80's and BLOW this thing to s$%t!

not a bad sculpt though... ;)

    EDIT- typo

  6. Yeah, I lucked out... got it in a trade with Glane21. It's not even my nice one, which sits in it's c-10 box... I don't see what the big deal is with buying these on eBay... my MIB one only cost like $150 (a LOT for a toy, but cheap considering what 1/55 Elints and Super O's were going for at one point, hell, that's less than I spen on my 1/48 Fokker w/ Fastpacks

  7. 1/72 scale... (and I read the posts some of you left about how sucky the Forces of Valor 1/72 Tomcats and Tornadoes are, so don't blast me, 'ight?

    1/72 YF-19 Alpha

    1/72 YF-21 Omega

    1/72 Destroids

  8. 1/48 scale (or there abouts:)

    1/42 (approx.) RX-178 mk II,

    1/40 Orgroid

    1/40 Nikick

    1/48 Fokker Strike

    1/48 P-47 Thunderbolt

    1/48 F-4U Corsair

    1/48 P-51 Mustang

    post-4-1078449890_thumb.jpg

  9. I love my Orgroid, hell, I love all of my Orguss stuff... I keep My Nickick and Orgroid next to my 1/48 Fokker with the Academy RX-178 mk II in the Background; even though the Orguss Mecha are 1/40, and the Gundam is around 1/42 they're close enough for my tastes scale-wise...

  10. Later Yamato pleased all by refining the 1/60 to what it is today and later they pleased damn near everyone by releasing the 1/48. I'm sure they'll end up doing the same thing with the VF-0, so I'm not going to waste my time getting riled up in the bitchfest once again.

I agree... except that waiting sucks.

So I'll just get back to my big voodoo dead chicken Jobu project and try to use my mojo to get Bandai to finish the 1/55 reissues and make chunky monkey VF-0's... how cool would that be?

Does anyone know if Bandai has rights to even DO a Chunky Monkey of the VF-0? If so, I'd buy it... hell I'd even be stoked if they produced it in 1/65 to match the size of their Mac 7's!!!

  11. My problem with the size is that it's not one of the existing 3 scales Yamato already has out for Macross toys. I would definitely buy one in any of those scale just for variety in that scale. I give Yamato the thumbs down on that one...

As for space consumption, I guess I'm a product of American culture, and I like big cars, big guns, and big toys, or maybe it's the fact that, dammit, I prefer perfect transformation, something about it makes it just that much easier for me to suspend my disbelief.

I'm with you ALL the way brutha,

I'm a child of the 80s, dammit, and we like our Transformers to transform.

I dunno... Right now, I'm very, very averse to the idea of a transforming toy that needs to be taken apart then put back together. Transforming toys, for me, have always been about the transformation. If I want to build a robot out of plane parts, I'll go buy a Lego set. Both modes may look prettier, but I'm perfectly willing to sacrifice a small degree of appearance for a really innovative "perfect" transformation (longish groincone, slightly thin arms, hands a bit on the tiny side, whatever).

It almost would've been easier for Yamato to make this a boxed set. One 1/100 plane, and one 1/100 super-articulated valkyrie with the proportions changed to account for anime magic.

...And I LOVE all this... saved me the trouble of writing it. Some may recall how pissed I was about the 1/60's... to that end I only bought the Hikaru A, just for the sake of having a Valk in my 1/60 display, and I never touch the thing... I said it before and I'll say it again: model kits pretending to be toys simply blow!!! Of course, everyone who has this opinion seems to always get painted as some sort of unsofisticated poser non-fan... and gets some sort of response like this:

dont be afraid to say it folks. you want the chunky monkey.

Why is is that  everyone is so partial to the -J's...?  They're friggin' FUGLY IMO.

    And the -A isn't?

You MUST be smokin' the good stuff, man. 1J's are probably the most handsome head out of the four general types. 1A looks like a damn camera.

That's why I like the A, no nonsense utilitarian look. That's not saying I don't like the 1S or 1J, actually I like most VF-1 heads for different reasons.

My sentiments EXACTLY!!! Actually, I don't even mind the -J HEADS per sey, I just don't like the M&M -J color schemes... to gaudy for my taste.

True Max did all of his ass-kicking in the VF-1A. I'd like to see it made. I probably wouldn't get it though. Not as cool as his VF-1J to me. I love the look of his VF-1J especially when coupled with Millia's. It wouldn't be right to release the Max TV 1-A along with Millia's only Valkyrie (in the original Macross) the VF-1J. I'd love it if they released Kakizaki's 1A and Max's 1A right after each other!

    Randy

aah, but you see Milia DID have the -A as well, and they both kisked some ass in them, both in actual combat and head-to-head during their video game courtship... They still flew these after they got married, so a VF-1A marriage set is more appropriate, don't you think?

  13. ugh!!! I suppose that it would just KILL the folks at Yamato to release Max and Milia in TV colored A-types FOR ONCE!!! Why is is that everyone is so partial to the -J's...? They're friggin' FUGLY IMO. 'Sides, all of the real ass-kickin' on Max's part in the series was done in his -A, and everyone knows it. When I saw that Hikaru's -J was released with those special hands specifically so that one could pose it like the T.V. intro, I got really excited that perhaps Yamato was comitted to re-creating T.V. scenes... alas no. <_< I'll wait a bit longer... It's gotta happen eventually, right?
