  1. Anyone here seen the new Entry Grade (EG) line?

Those look pretty neat (well, the box art does at least :p ). Any pictures of the actual product though? "Entry" Grade sounds like it will be even easier to build than a regular HG 1/144, so the product may not be as great as the box art suggests ;)

btw, I just found this looking up some random model sites:

    http://kuiliu.wordpress.com/2009/09/10/gundam-exia-repair-gn-001/

    gundam_exia-repair_gn-001_007.jpg

Amazing  - Credit goes to the modeler, though I can't find his name. I would get a commission work like that if I could :o

  2. I have a hard time believing it's worse than the 00 kit.

I dunno. I know the 00 has its frame issues and what - not (i.e. lack of inner details etc.), but I really liked it for what it is. They tried something new, and it wasn't half bad imho. Also, there was a lot of new stuff introduced with the kit, such as condensors, and even moving motor parts (no matter how insignificant they were). Lastly, I thought that overall, it may not have been perfect, but it was a good attempt at the 00, and I liked it for what it was. I would even go as far as to say that it is (as of now) the best representation of the 00 raiser, and most likely will be so, unless the upcoming MG can top it.

Beyond that, it was an all new kit, and not a remake of an old frame ^_^

I dunno, but there has just been a lot of bashing of the 00, so I thought I'd throw in my $0.02 to help out the other side :)

I guess it doesn't help to much that I am a fan of the 00 design though :p *looks at profile pic*

  3. Getting OT, but I made this pic myself. It's movie Starscream and Prime to scale, in vehicle mode.

WOW, thanks for posting this! I kinda knew that an F-22 was probably bigger than a truck, but I never would have guessed the difference to have been this big!

At that point, Optimus would be more like a minicon rather than the full on leader of the Autobots

Sorry for the off topic reply....getting back on topic now :)

  4. Sorry for de-railing the thread guys (this might be slightly off topic):

Does anyone know exactly when all the 00x side stories occur? I really liked the designs of Cherudim SAGA, and I was directed to various 00x sidestories for more info.....

Do all these side stories occur alongside the main TV series? Or are they pre/sequels or maybe even a different timeline altogether? It would be weird for them

to be prequels as some feature much more advanced suits than season 1 or even season 2 CB suits....

    Just a question...

  5. Yeah, believe me, I was bummed a bit (It was my first yamato valk actually). Dunno, but I was fairly gentle with the thing, and assumed that any amount of overpressure would break it (meaning I was pretty careful when I transformed it), and as I pointed out above, it was my 4th transformation with it.

Oh well, like I said, even though it bummed me out a bit, I can live

  6. Ouch, sorry to hear. The only problem I ever had on the ver 2 1/60 VF-1's is that I had a few that I could not get the peg by the intake to disengage easily. Nothing broke though, I just had to work at it slowly and it came loose.

Thanks. I worked with it yesterday and its not as bad as i initially thought. Sure, one of the hinges is gone, but the mechanism can still hold in place with the other hinge (left hinge broke, but right hinge is alright). This means that though it is loose, and can only stay in a full open, or full close position, its fine and can still be used as a part of the toy. Now the only issue i guess, beyond the looseness, would be the unsightly "break mark" where the hinge used to be :(

  7. Ouch, first breakage report on my 1/60 VF-1A Max that I ordered from HLJ. I don't know if I was mistransforming it or something, but one of the hinges that holds the folding cover for the back-pack booster broke, so the cover fell off. Not too big a deal because its covered up somewhere inside during fighter mode, and when transformed, it just kinda sat there under the back - pack, but it still hurts watching a $100 + toy break somewhere :(

Oh wells, at least I didn't break an arm or something, and it was minor....

(it was my 1st transformation back to fighter from battroid btw, though I had to and from gerwalk to fighter multiple times)

  8. Have you check Dalong's review? As big and expensive it is, HGUC Dendrobium is still HGUC, not MG or PG. So you won't have crazy inner details or light-up gimmick like PG. It doesn't even comes with sticker/decal sheets.

Well, detailing and stuff on the raw kit isn't too big a deal for me mostly because I plan on painting the kit when I do have it, and I am not too much a stickler when it comes to inner detail.

Anyways, on a side note, for those of you that do have it, can you take the thing off of the stand they provide, or is it permanently attached (thinking of some display options)

  9. I do. It's huge, and fairly impressive, so it takes a lot of space to display but it's worth displaying. It's got a good drop-down panel to help the Stamen dock, and you can flip the inner disc on the I-field generator for closed or open position. The containers and the cannon barrel are detachable after assembly for storage. The spring-mechanism in the containers that help the various missile loads eject can be a little problematic (sticks some times). That's the only issue I have.

I have the kit as well. Like Penguin said, the thing is huge. It's also quite detailed.

It's so big, that when I bought it at Anime Expo '02, I think it was, I actually had to check it in as baggage for my flight home.

Yeah, the main thing that appealed to me is the sheer size of the thing. Looks like a lot of fun as well with all the detail and extra bits.

And even more so, the containers and contents of the weapon rack looks really playable and fun to display with as well! One thing I guess i should add is

a question I guess. I really like this kit, but my favorite PG (GP-01) is also around the same price. Which one do you think is worth the pick - up?

And to the MG Epyon, yes, it does look terrible :p

    - I don't really get the whole wing design as well as shoulder plates. Even more so, the thing just looks really.....wrong to me (Random teeth on the feet?)

  10. Anyone have an HGUC GP-03 Dendrobium Orchis? Is it worth the $250 - $300. I really love the concept of it (Mobile Armor + Gundam) as well as the whole

containers system that it comes with. Looks like a lot of fun to build and display, and seems to have a lot of playability as well.

If anyone has it, do you think its worth the pick-up? I have a whole week off for spring break, and I was looking to buy and build this thing :)

  11. Just kind of a random question for you guys, but what do you think is the best Perfect Grade model Bandai has put out so far? I have been hearing a lot of

"That perfect grade is the best one" and stuff along those lines from numerous people in different forums, so I just wanted to test the waters...

What do you guys think is the best perfect grade put out so far?

For me, since I am more into detail and stuff, would be the PG GP-01. The first gundam toy I ever got was a 12" DX GP-01 when I was around 10ish and Gundam was

actually airing and kinda popular with kids here in the U.S. I really liked that thing, and had a TON of childhood memories messing around with it emulating the TV show. Therefore, the PG GP-01 just made sense to me and seemed like a natural build upon the model of my childhood. It has TONS of detail and a lot of playability and diorama potential as well.

Just my thoughts, but what do you guys think?

(Also, that new MG Epyon looks horrible IMHO....)

  12. Watching Zeta A New Translation. Love the new animation and scenes, although for some reason all the old stuff looks a bit grainy. But nowhere near enough to be distracting.

Hope to see the last 2 movies by the end of the week.

Nice! But just a suggestion on my part, if you haven't already heard that is, you should definitely try and watch the last episode of the Zeta TV series after you finish watching the movies mainly because the ending of the movies is a little bit different than that of the TV series.

Furthermore, the movie (trilogy of movies) ending essentially retcons much of the continuing series, which would be ZZ. Just a thought, unless you already know that is :)

  13. I'm not so sure this was an improvement, many mobile suits after the one year war still used the monoeye like the hi-zack for example. Besides the steroscopic vision would only work if the camera's were linked to the pilots own eyesight, other wise you're still looking at a flat viewscreen.

EDIT: It wouldn't be used for the range finder scope either since the Guncannon has one and is a monoeye the same as the zaku's.

Actually, I could have sworn the even Gundams only have a single main camera, which is not the actual eyes, but the little green bit above the yellow crown on their helmet (You know, the other green thing other than the eyes on most gundams' heads. I have always thought that the actual camera resided in their.

At least, that is how it worked in 08th MS Team (that one girl appears in shiro's main moniter, but when they show the outside, the girl is looking into the upper green thing on the gundam's helmet, not the actual eyes)

I dunno for sure, but IIRC, that is how it worked for a few Gundams, at least within the UC timeline....

Wow, so much thought for such a little peripheral detail

  14. It sure looks nice, but 660,000 yen is not my comfort zone.

Isn't that around $7000? Wait, is it 660,000 or is it 66,000 cuz that would make more sense to me...

  15. I missed it at first, but apparently the Sound Booster will cost 8610 yen! :o

With no signs of light-and-sound gimmicks, that's steep... :(

Wow, that means that those that want to purchase both the sound booster and the valk itself will most likely be paying upwards of $400 to get it.

    That is fairly insane.....

  16. Just finished the series, I just love it for the fact that the protagonist isn't a high school boy. Also the Kawamori influences although I'm constantly perplexed how paper-like(in terms of structural integrity and combustible) the ships of the line were.

Yeah, I really enjoy the Gundam series that do NOT feature a high school age boy randomly falling into the possession of a prototype uber Gundam and then we later find out that he is some kind of "uber-person" (i.e. ultimate coordinator, newtype, innovator, etc.).

I love the series like 08th MS Team and Stardust Memory for the more enjoyable overtones and realism in that they are actual soldiers in the Gundam, not a random teenager. Beyond that, I think 08th MS team, Stardust Memory, and related OVAs were some of the only Gundam shows to really feature actual "damage" to the mobile suit. Well yes, in other series, an arm or so would fall off once in a while, and "maybe" the main gundam would be destroyed, but the pilot would generally miraculously survive with no explanation or it would only be a part of a final battle or story battle. In 08th MS team and Stardust Memory, we see this kind of damage in any regular old battle (like when one of the ground type gundams get damaged by a zaku attack).

Dunno, but I guess the general idea is that I agree with you :) Sunrise should do more "realistic" gundam series...

  17. That YF-29 looks really nice, but the longer I look at it, the more I want a legit DX VF-25 instead......or one made by Yamato

Speaking of which, in previous pictures, wasn't the crotch section angled like it is in the anime? Why is it flat in the pic above? I

dunno about you guys, but I'd rather have it angled like it is in the anime....

  18. Actually, in terms of what the OP posted, I believe that it all depends, but for the most balanced situations, I think set up b or c would work best. Where as nukes are great an all, from what I have seen in macross, they a are a bit slower than regular missiles and less maneuverable as well. If you are up against a big or stationary target, then sure, set up A would be great, but for all other situations where the enemies are small and agile, i think a set like b or c with box missiles deliver a more effective payload.

    Just my humble $0.02

EDIT: Just noticed that Jasonc posted nearly the identical thing. Sorry for the repitition, but yeah, I agree with him!
