Looks like Bandai opted for DYRL Roy pilot finally, I wonder if he's swappable with a TV Roy since the TV hands and super parts are also provided.

Hell yes I can't wait, one more month, but now I need some stand alone fast packs to get released so Hikaru's 1J isn't naked any more, oh and a TV Kakizaki and Max 1A please!!

  2. SO yea I picked up my rarely touched Eva-01 and attempted to bend the right leg and it snapped off, the damage done is basically the small black plastic ring that sits inside the leg under the rubber snapped, and the whole leg fell off. I'm not sure what to ask for this, I guess just make an offer, I'm sure it could be fixed I'm just too pissed to care about this guy anymore, I really never touched it. US only please, I'll post pics of the figure and the damage in the next few days if anyone seems interested, original box and all accessories included, everything is in like new condition aside from leg damage.

    Um okay, $50 shipped OBO.

  3. The Takatoku/Matchbox/Playmates 1/144 Destroids are rather small, but the detail is nice and you could just rescale them for inclusion with 1/100 pieces. Of the larger plastic Robotech/Exo-Squad Destroids, only the Phalanx is at all nice, with the Spartan also kind-of OK. Again, you'd have to rescale them, or shoot with some forced perspective.

Yamato's 1/100 Konig Monster is nice, though...

It looks nice, but I really prefer the original monster not the frontier version, I don't like the transformable monsters look.

  4. I think the Large Exo Squad are around 1:72 scale, and the smaller ones are 1:144. I haven't been able to locate mine, so this is from my old man memory. Be warned. :)

Sounds like the 1/144 MIGHT be okay, I'll have to read the descriptions closely, thanks for the heads up.

  5. I just saw some fairly cheap exo-squad robotech destroids on ebay, what scale are they I can't find any info on them, with a good repaint and some weathering these guys might work if they're the right size.

  6. remember that the hi-metal VF-1s are slightly off-scale.... they are actually bigger than what a 1/100 should be.

That's fine, I'm not one to nerd rage over a figure being one or two centimeters too tall or too short.

  7. There's the Destroid Conversion Kits. But you can only display one at a time. There's also the Bandai kits. I might check the out myself.

Hm conversion kits? Do you mean you swap parts on them to make other destroid models, like you swap and you can have a defender, or a tomahawk? Any pics, if they're roughly 1/100 I'd like to get a few. Oh and the bandai models how are they, I looked up the arii models, but I've heard bad things about them.

  8. So basically I've drawn and photoshopped together a really nice city battle backdrop, then built by hand and painted some wrecked buildings out of posterboard, and created a city scene for my 1/100 battlepods and my to be collection of hi-metal VF-1's. What I'm wondering is are there any good 1/100 or roughly 1/100 scale destroid figures or models out there? I've got a good hand full of battlepods and only 1 valk so far, but the glaug is on the way and my roy comes out in November, but I need some cannon fodder destroids, help please!

  9. Roy's Strike valk is scheduled for next month, the VF-1A Super Valks I think are for early 2011. I really hope the YF-21 and YF-19 got as far as tool cutting, I honestly think they might do well, being that the only other alternative(s) cost $100 more(1/60 YF-19 and YF-21, assuming that VF HI METAL versions would be ¥7800 at most).

Hm a hi-metal YF-19 that would be as good a quality as my iJ does sound quite awesome.

  10. You have to realize the way an adult "plays" with a toy is not the way a child does. Kids cooperatively play with each other, creating new narratives, role playing, re-purposing toys from other lines, etc. It's a much more involved process than simply having something they saw from a TV show.

And while there are sandbox type games, most games are not this. If you play halo you're playing halo. 99% of games don't allow the user to create their own narrative, create their own figures and even many multiplayer/cooperative games today don't even have a shared console mode thereby removing the social aspect of group play that's vital and necessary for kids to develop social skills.

Toys also help develop spatial and engineering thinking that, again, most games don't offer. Just because a game may feature "physics" doesn't go nearly as far in teaching a child how physics actually work compared to building something out of blocks, legos, or other other comparable toys.

I'm a parent and I see a huge difference between children who play with toys and have little to no screen time, compared to children who spend the majority of their play time watching tv or playing games. Greater attention spans, better socialization, increased vocabulary and more complex sentence structures (grouping of words and ideas and concepts).

Hm, maybe it was just me, but the figures I had I used to create scenarios I already knew, but I just wanted to recreate in any way I could, I didn't have starship troopers figs but I had big bugs and Gi Joes. So I guess some imagination, and at the same time no imagination, just pretend play. On another note, anyone have any details or releases for the hi-metal DRYL valks?

  11. I just sold a good majority on craigslist, I now have an 0S, SV-51, and a 1/48 1J, 1A, and 1S. I sold all my figures that are repaints of the same model and kept my favorite color schemes for one of each, oh and the hi-metal 1J I guess, I plan on expanding my collection with more than just repaints of the same macross figures.

  12. Sweet... a whole generation coming up of kids with no imagination of their own :(

But a toy is just a replica of something from a previously created show or form of media, no real imagination there just playing with a figure. Games these days have options, RPG's are much more imaginative then an action figure or huge over-priced toy, I'm in the game industry, I just couldn't stand by.

  13. Was there a reason why they designed the wings to be removable? Or, was it just in case it broke, like CM's did with the Mospeada Ride Armor extra parts?

The hi-metal comes with 2 sets of wings, one completely flat for battroid, and one set comes with hardpoint holes for the missiles. I don't really believe anyone would be picky enough to make the second set of non-missile attachable wings necessary, but, oh wait......

  14. I just got my friend's SV-51 Ivanov in, it seems fine, granted I'm not transforming his figure. Everything is tight, I unplugged the thighs and they're nice and tight, no wing sag but I didn't put on the boosters, it's still up for grabs on this guy, I'd say go for it if you want one because the price is only going up and they are getting harder to find, and it's pretty obvious they're not re-releasing this guy.

  15. Question-

Any issues with this Valk? I have no idea what release it is. My Stealth Type is pretty close to perfect and I'm wondering if those improvements were also made to this Valk. I'd like to grab him at that price, maybe even Miria as well, as I have neither. Most of my Valks are 1/60 scale. Matter of fact, the Stealth Type is the only 1/48 I have. I just wasn't sure of their durability. Speaking of which, how are the 1/48's holding up?

    Thanks everyone.

Mine are still all fine, I actually ordered my VF-1J Max from Angolz, excellent price, really insane price actually. His valk is fine, as is Miria's, they were both later releases that came with fast packs, so they're pretty awesome, I'd say grab em while they got em, I really didn't think they'd last at that price.

  16. Do just the 0D. I think Bandai would have more success doing "the valks you can't get otherwise" rather than "yet more valks you already own in 1/55, 1/48, 1/60, and 1/72..."

(exceptions for stuff like the -19S of course, where they have greatly improved upon previous offerings)

Agreed, instead of releasing the same valks most people own three times over in different scales and colors give us the valks yamato won't touch, the 0D would be a good start, a VF-4 would be AWESOME. Why do just valks, hi-metal destroids in scale with the valks, hell a hi-metal monster, that would way too effin awesome, then I'd buy a LOT more toynami regults and battle scene it up.

  17. I actually just bought another Ivanov off ebay about and hour ago for a friend, he saw that mine was fine but we'll see, it sucks that this is one of the riskiest valks to get because in my opinion it's one the best looking.

  18. Well after branching out of the VF-1 line and picking up a VF-0, I've grown attached to the larger valks and I was wondering if Ivanov's SV-51 was ever improved from the initial batch like the VF-1S and VF-0S were. I know that Nora's and the mass produced SV-51s are relatively safe but I never ever hear anything about Ivanov's. Am I still chancing a floppy mess if I order one now?

I actually just picked up an SV-51 Ivanov off of tisinc99.com, I'd never ordered from them before and got relatively equal positive and negative complaints, but they were here in the states and the total with shipping was only about $240. The figure itself, absolutely fine, like everyone else said it was never truly reissued, it's just a luck of the draw, granted it's a very expensive luck of the draw. Your call, I got lucky and have to say this thing is easily my favorite valk I own now, it's truly gorgeous next to the VF-0S.
