Macross 25th Anniversary and upcoming new TV series thread
Sumdumgai replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Hell yeah. The constant exposure to it over the years helped as well. Using the VF-17 in VFX2 as my evil special mission valk, beam cannon attachment! Seeing it constantly in action in M7. It's grown to be one of my favorites. And I really love the look of this VF-171*. -
Gotta love Miria's mothering skills. "Want to hold her?" *chucks Komiria across the room* "What? If baby cannot survive simple fall, baby will not survive to be strong warrior!"

I find this idea to be pretty tame. Then again after some figure pictures I've seen from some of the conventions in Japan, a lot of stuff is really tame. Besides, I find it to be much less creepy than that Nightmare Before Christmas stuff. At least the Zentraedi soldier is dead and unmoving, as opposed to dead-looking and singing and dancing.

The YF-21 gunpods attach to the belly plates in fighter mode, they are not internally stored like on the VF-22. To me it doesn't look like they recess into the belly plate, but just attach, in the lineart.

Wow, Zachary Quinto sure does look like Spock in a lot of those pics.

Who is to say that there will be new destroids. M7 didn't have any destroids other than the vintage ones from Space War I, and the transformable police... thing... I guess it's possible, if unlikely, that they had destroids in use but we never saw them throughout M7. I'm just as excited about the VF-171* as I am about the VF-25. Maybe more so even, since the VF-17 has really grown on me a lot. Thanks for those scans Graham! -
Awesome! Thanks for putting up the youtube video! Another observation. In Battroid mode, the front nose section shifts and slides up under the cockpit area. You can see the canopy sticking out over it. The gunpods are there in fighter mode mounted on the underside. Those are some nice legs and feet. WOOHOO SLEEK FIGHTER MODE! Yellow seems a bit pale, but maybe it's just the video.

I'm guessing she'll either be in a flashback (because she's too young to play his mom), or be put in a lot of makeup.

That new gunpod it has looks mean as hell. It really reminds me of the VF-11 Protect Armor gunpod. In the short instant we see it, it's either ejecting the magazine which is mounted underneath the barrels (instead of the top like the VF-11's gunpod), or it's opening up for something... New tricks would be good. Something to make us go "oooh" and "aaah" about. -

Nice mod! I don't have the guts to perform that kind of surgery on my baby though. -

I forgot where I read it, but I recall reading somewhere that this character designer was the same one who did the hentai anime "Hitozuma Kasumi-san". The style of character design doesn't bother me. The pretty-boy looks kind of sets me on edge, especially because Alto looks like a moody main character guy. -

I don't know who the character designer is, but it's a safe bet that it is not Mikimoto. Doubtful that it's Nobuteru Yuuki either. I suspect that they might be trying to pull in female fans with Saotome Alto and Micheru Buranu. That Bobby Marugo doesn't help that suspicion. And Ozma, despite the scruffyness, looks like he could swing either way (especially with the earring). I have no idea if that Ruka Angeroo is a guy or a gal. addition: Please don't make this to be a Gundam Wing-like series. -
If the joints were well hidden, I'd definitely pick up some female zentraedi soldiers/pilots. Miria, Chlore, some of the background soldiers/pilots from the FOTSW episode of M7, or some of Miria's wingmates. The Frauliene series would probably work well for that. As for guy zentraedi soldiers, revoltech could be interesting, but I wouldn't buy. If I were really creepy and had the time, and inclination, I'd make a full sized micronized version of that zentraedi and have it lay by the front door. I'd also put a plaque by it stating "tried running off with my stuff".

I feel that the GITS movie succeeded in taking the manga and turning it into a serious-toned movie without any humor or light-heartedness, much like the first series Rurouni Kenshin OVA. In that regard I thought it was very well done, and the only thing it really lacked were the fuchikomas, even if they were to be humorless as well. I never got around to watching the second GITS movie. The lack of good reviews doesn't help. As with Mr. March, Appleseed has been consistently a low priority series for me.
-
Too late for me to try that, since mine broke quite a while after having received my 0A. I still have to get around to epoxying those damned shoulders.
-
Wow, you thought the movie was worse than that god awful ova? Dang, I'm not going to give it a chance out of pity even then.

Now here is where I make the crack about the DYRL CF Q-rau, and the 1/72 YF-21FP as the purple-people-eater being like the DYRL CF Q-rau. Do not kill me for I am fatally allergic to death, it kind of makes me... well dead. I have to say I'm not a great fan of Chlore's Q-rau from the Fleet of Strongest Women episode of M7. I just don't like that yellow color. Far be it for me to say it's too flashy after all that we've seen in M7, or Miria's red valkyries, but yeah I think the yellow is too flashy.

New Dominion Tank Police wasn't that bad on the character designs, and I agree that Black Magic M-66 did a great job. I couldn't bring myself to watch Appleseed, and that new Tank Police thing... well I couldn't bring myself to watch another episode after the first one.

I'm thankful that they never turned the ndj-ger into a valkyrie. That zentraedi mecha would be horrible as a valkyrie in my eyes.

Hey, were any of you at the open call for "Corporate Headquarters" (supposedly the code name for the new movie) in Burbank today? I saw that someone had a silver Toyota with the UN Spacy symbol over their gas input hatch thing... what the hell is that part called anyway? So I was wondering if any of you went.

I'm wondering if Saotome is wearing power armor or a valkyrie costume in the scene where he's handling a big paper airplane made out of a poster of that Nome girl. In that pic he has mecha-like hands, like in the later shots where the arm of something opens up and shows a human hand at a joystick along the inner arm. I'm wondering if they've made any micronized versions of the Q-rau of ndj-ger (won't even try to spell it ). Might not be useful for space combat against larger ships and vehicles, but could be very handy against invading forces of similar-sized beings. Yeah, I'm hoping that the VF-17 doesn't get dealt the VF-11 role of exploding targets. I really like the look of this new VF-17. I'd like to see the VF-25 without missiles attached to the wings, so we can see its normal battroid mode with what I'm guessing will be folded wings. I just never liked battroid mode on the VF-1s when they still had missiles and the wings not folded. edit: added a syllable to the abbreviation because it looked wrong. -

Well, don't forget that Yamato may not have the license or be able to get the license. I wonder though, if that's part of the 98% of info that Graham could not tell us... Hmmmm... or Depending on what the MF toy situation is going to be like. The forward facing lasers seem to still be there, but shortened from the M7 era VF-17. -

They look like 3d rendered VF-17s to me. The nose is slightly longer than on the standard VF-17D/S/T models, and the wings are subtly different. But the rest of the layout looks very much like a VF-17 to me. It could very likely be a later model of VF-17 with some changes, much like how the 19 changed from M+ to M7. If you manage to pause at the right moments to take a good look, everything is in the right place for a VF-17. Those aquamarine valkyries have the right leg/feet configuration, the stabilizers are in the right places at the right angles on what look to be the same type of arms. The head is located in the same area with slightly different details. It has those silver tube-ish things next to the cockpit as well. In particular if you can pause it at 1:21 in the right frame, you can see the detail of the surface of the fighter very well. It is most definitely a VF-17 variant with a two-head-laser configuration. I'd show screenshots but I don't know how to with windows media player. -
One more reason to dislike the VF-11kai MAXL. If it was going to have breastseses it should have fired missiles or something out of them like the Q-rau. And it has two breastseses. Not one. But, two.

Damnit it won't load fast enough for me! I'm practically bouncing off the walls here at seeing just the colony fleet and hearing the music. Thanks for posting those transformation pics charger69. That puts an end to my guessing the transformation for the VF-25. Now the question is what company will be producing the toys, if any. addition: HOLY CRAP! Awesome! That flying ghost-like white thing at the beginning kind of looked cheap, but the rest of it looked awesome! I don't need to see the series to know I want a toy of the VF-17 in that aquamarine color (with orange-gold tinted canopy), and a VF-25 toy.
