  1. Weell, the thing is, before Alpha, the SRW franchise didn't really have any animation, all you had were just sliding sprites around the screen. Of course, in place of that, you had the plot, apparently the F series had a great plot, which, unfortunately, I do not understand.

So it's pretty hard to get this game to appeal to the vast majority of gamers out there, apart from those who are actually familiar with mecha anime/manga. But since there's the ever growing number of games resembling SRW entering the US market e.g. Disgaea, La Pucelle, etc. there MIGHT be a chance of us seeing the game released locally.

  2. Uhhh, sure, it would be logical as this would fit as a 'prototype' thing. But this is from the world of BATMAN, which really, isn't very futuristic to begin with. Sooo, its rather bombastic for its intended premise.. Lol. If it turns out to be a different beginning for a different kind of Batman on a different world/setting, that WOULD be something interesting to see.

  3. I'm really curious as to how the balljointed hip is done though. Using polycaps available by Wave don't seem to be what's done considering the fact that they wear out pretty quickly, and that the legs are a bit heavy for those polycaps to support. Then there're the Kotobukiya ones.

    Hmmmm.

  4. I've the Deep Striker and Crossbone X-1. Depending on your taste for colours, you can go for either the X-1 or X-2, both don't have any differences except for the colouring (and the head should be different a little, particular the V-fins, but I can't get a closer look at them to compare). Note that the Crossbone Gundams are missing 4 features, particularly the beam sabers on the shoulder (they can be removed, but there's no actual 'saber' provided). The other 3 include the:

    - Scissor Anchor (or the front skirt armour, yep, it's an actual equipment used as a weapon/tool),

    - the beam shield (sad, this isn't included, but they give the Brand Marker instead),

    - heat dagger feet (kind of hard to describe, but the daggers are equipped at the bottom of the feet and act as a form of kick-cutting weaponry --> not entirely essential to be included though)

At least they made up for it by giving an extra mantle made of a cloth-like material which resembles the Sandrock Custom's.

And if you're real picky with the colours, getting only the Deep Striker might not satisfy you and might lead to getting an Ex-S (with the prototype colours or Taskforce Alpha colours). Oh, not to mention the Beam Smartgun differences. The Ex-S pack has the shorter one which comes with a disc radome that's able to connect to the crotch piece. DS doesn't have that, so you can't pull off the classic Ex-S pose. Nevertheless, the S Gundam looks damn fine no matter what colour its in (unless you're REALLY picky).

Overall, they may not be very playable or dynamically poseable (like Kaiyodo's action figures), but the sheer detailing makes up for it. Should you get the Crossbone? YES. It's obscure! So far this is the only form it's in besides the B-Club kits which are more costly.

  5. Looking at Rinkya's service charges and comparing to Celga's (which I've used, and from memory of checking Rinkya's costs) it's safe to say that you'll be better off economically with Celga. Used them twice so far and I'm happy with their service (it costs you, but unless you can find a friend/relative in Japan willing to do the honours).

By the way, this M-Nugget, how are their services? I've never heard of them before. :o

  6. Hmmm, Garfield's face is not fat and big enough. And that is not what Garfield is like. Simply put: That's not Garfield. But oh well. Can't be helped. Frankly, the animated version from way back then wasn't even as funny as the comic strips were, =/

What's next for the 'comic-to-movie' lineup? Calvin & Hobbes perhaps? (Oh no, I might've given them the idea!)

  7. It's hard getting it, especially when the Japanese RENAME other files as Casshern and you end up getting... The Last Samurai. Naturally I was ticked off since it wasted my time. =/

Either way, I saw another one that's a set of 2, but didn't get it =/ And now it's even harder to get them because of a certain 'event'.

  8. Hmm, I somehow know about this before... don't remember how, or why, but it's screwed up all right. I'm also reminded of that Simpsons episode where they go to Japan and that gameshow... Didn't think it would be an actual thing though. Man, this is scary stuff.

  9. Weeell, I'm playing the Jp version, and I can say it's a great, great game. I'm not sure if they kept Jean Reno's original voice for the English version in the beginning though. Although I have to admit, the game's plot and dialogue is pretty corny at times. Oh, and one of the main reasons, if the not the main one, is that you can now use the analog controls, no more of the Onimusha 1 and 2's annoying movements. Sure increases the chances of survival a lot.

  10. Yeah, the last 4 episodes just hit me without a warning. It was so unexpected as to what happened, and the climax scene was, very, very very very very, well, impacting. First few episodes of the series starts of a tad bit slow, then it starts to trail off to some great character developments and insights to each character.

All I can say is: don't miss it. It's one of the best series of this century. :p Although some might think I'm biased.

  11. What? Tobikage? A-Classics released it? Hmm. Although I was told by Kyoji himself that the subs for God Mars are taken from the HK subs, fixed and checked. Either he did the same thing for Tobikage, or found someone to do the job. Last I heard he only has the raws in his hands, so...

  12. From what I can comprehend of it... apparently this Hoihoi-san fig is a limited batch that could only be ordered via Dengeki Daiou (monthly mag). Which means: the fig is only limited to Japan. Unless you want to use some online service and get it off Japan's Yahoo! Auctions, that go as low as 11,000 yen or so. Pricey ain't it? And it also seems there were option parts you could get off Figure Maniacs, too, which is also another monthly mag. Now, the question is: is it worth going through all the trouble and cost to get it?

  13. Hoihoi-san is from the game called... Hoihoi-san. Pretty blunt isn't it? Well, to be exact, it's Ichigeki sacchuu!! Hoihoi-san, or 一撃殺虫!!ホイホイさん. She comes in a blister pack identical to the one you see in the first link I posted. Here's a link to the official site: http://www.konamityo.com/hoihoisan/

The concept is somewhat like Medarots/Medabots. You start the game off, buying your own Hoihoi-san (she's the size of that action figure, as it suggests, 1/1 scale), she comes with a handgun, and a sword. You play through missions as Hoihoi-san and kills insects (as the title suggests: killing pests in a blow), get cash, buy more weapons/ammunition/different coloured maid costume/other costumes (like a swimsuit). As the game progresses you bump into some people, one of which is a Hoihoi-san geek who has a lot of junk for her and gives you stuff, e.g. Hoihoi-san lift, to go up desks, shelves, etc.

She runs on battery, so you'll have to get to the charger if you play the stage too long.

Overall, the game isn't really that great, to be frank. ^^;; It's a tad bit too linear and simple, it gets repetitive very quickly. I haven't played through it too much since I don't have much time, so what I've written is what I've played of it so far.

Edit: Hmm, didn't know Kunihiko Tanaka did the designs... Interesting. Have a look at what he has in his site: http://www3.tky.3web.ne.jp/~r4kmt/menu/top.htm

  14. O_O Wow, a poseable Hoihoi-san fig! There was one before, and it couldn't pose.

http://www011.upp.so-net.ne.jp/pony-hp/PS2-HOIHOI.htm Which came with the game I think (limited edition it seems)

This new one... I don't know the details around it. Except that I want one now. XD

    More pics: http://www011.upp.so-net.ne.jp/FILITHEYO/HOIHOI-DD.htm

Boy, this thing is pretty sizeable. :D And look at that Rei figure, not as small as people really thought, eh?

  15. Well, not exactly a dating sim per se, it's something like a mix of strategy as well (the fighting bit), and interaction with the other characters within the base itself. Other games that would fall under the same category would be... Hmm, Rayblade, and the Sakura Wars series, and perhaps others which I have yet to hear of.

As for being a romantic comedy, the show is somewhat more of a mixture. It has a dark side to it (people dying), a light-hearted side (the crews' day to day life) as well as the romance side, which doesn't take place until later on. And don't worry, Hayami is definitely not a clone of Shinji, he may be pessimistic, but he's also optimistic at the same time. He's your average slow-minded, nice guy who gets picked on a lot of times. Girls flock him? No they don't. Which is how things should turn out, not like the other shows that've been around where a useless protagonist is surrounded by girls for some unknown reason.

Overall, the show's not great, but I enjoyed it.
