  1. That's what always bugged me about HG's creative director. If you meet the guy, he can be an affable fellow. But if you cross him (ex. UEG, the people who planned to put out a Mospeada artbook, criticize his poster, Vince McHenry, put up unofficial cast interviews) he will crush you, burn your house, eat your children. I have some Korean friends who are like that... a lot of pride. It's very unprofessional for the Yunes, but maybe it's just cultural??
  2. Some sort of "follow-up" would have been made in comic form (sort of what other companies did with the Battle of the Planets and the Thundercats franchise). It would've sold less than 15,000 copies and the franchise would have to resort to completely cashing-in on the Macross merchandising license for the next decade or so. With no Shadow Rising or LAM in sight, they've fallen back into this pattern with Macross mugs, t-shirts, and toys since NewGen stuff doesn't sell as well. Zzzzzzzzzz.
  3. Meanwhile, Carl Macek weeps in his brand spanking new executive office in Harmony Gold. *edit*
  4. My guess is MEMO's probably going to wait and see how successful this RT25 thing is before he dips his toes on his own and finally goes bankrupt.
  5. That silver armor looks better than I thought on screen!!
  6. Please tell me MEMO/Mavvy isn't involved in this one bit. Sounds cool though, and for once it isn't just one big Tony Oliver/Rick Hunter wankfest. Funny though, I didn't see Macek's name on the guestlist... Aw hell, the green "beta" didn't sell?! I knew they should'a slapped "Limited Variant Edition" on the box.
  7. I'm pretty sure these people will throw in the failed Sentinels feature in their special edition ADV Robotech DVD set, the Robotech 3000 trailer in their Shadow Chronicles blu-ray, and lots and lots of booze drugs they took in the 80's. Sounds like a party!!!
  8. Hey thanks a lot for this. Been waiting two years for someone to post it. It's every bit as blah as I imagined anything designed by Tommy Yune could be. Sometimes when I read MEMO's comments, I can't help but wonder if the guy is really serious. Even Mav's are questionable. Are these people really that dense? Surely these rational, thinking beings must be joking! Maybe they're saying these things because they know they will invoke a violent reaction from the "Hardcore Macross Purists" and that gives them pleasure??? These are the faces Macek and Yune wanted for the online Robotech fandom? This reminds me of a funny thing I heard while listening to one of my usual Talkshoe shows. These two popular comic artists (who have absolutely no connection to Robotech/Macross fandom) were talking about Doug's show "Robotech fan", and we're saying how f**ked up the guy is and how he's full of hate and weird issues. I found it pretty damn funny (and sad) how they were describing Doug and how he's the "Robotech Masta". The funniest part came when they said they were half expecting he'd take a shotgun to his head and then you'd hear "BANG!!!" They also commented on his Youtube vids, which were just embarrassing to begin with. I think they showbombed the dude, but I haven't heard that episode. \
  9. I'm just disappointed that it seems the other sagas didn't get their "due" in the promo. I would have been interested if there was a Hovertank toy. As it stands, it's still a pretty good deal. I'll be honest that I almost panicked when I read somewhere here that the 1/60 Yamato I own had some problem with the shoulder. I admit thought that the entire Alpha fighter line of Toynami is a pretty pathetic (albeit humorous).
  10. CEASE AND DESIST!!!! Kidding aside, I ate there just this morning and I didn't see no Robotech/Macross promos... I'll have to check out their more popular branches. Macross toys for the kiddies!!! I wholeheartedly agree that Harmony Gold has nothing to gain from the Filipino fanbase. You can get the full series for a few dollars plus Shadow Chronicles at one of our many pirate havens though (often in mainstream malls!). HG can start marketing there...
  11. Got your Spheroids right here, taks. Sorry 'bout the low-res look. Didn't bother to take a screencap from the DVD someone gave me as a "gift". I hate to break it to you Seto, but the story goes that actual unpaid fanboys (Jonathan Switzer, Vince McHenry and a couple of others were merely credited for their efforts) did majority of the design and type work for the art book, hence it's somewhat questionable quality.
  12. Dude, I imported my avatar. Loophole?
  13. Me thinks this film has a higher fetish factor This one looks like it's trying to ape the original Mortal Kombat (which I hear they're remaking)
  14. I know it's for a good cause, but if I were a layman, I would assume that Carl Macek designed the toy, and that the "hardcore Macross fans" is some kind of cult from the 80's.
  15. Why studios assume you'll watch Tekken: The Live Awesome Movie: Watch the trailer and see the people's champ!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=st6dHmDSkhY...feature=related
  16. The hardest of the hardcore were present at the Robotech Auction: Stealth Veritech = $425. Did the guy who just bid look a lot like Jonathan Switzer, a.k.a. Captain JLS?
  17. Tommy Yune has a great poker face throughout the interview. I find it really interesting that HG really stresses to the press that LAM is "in development" and not floating somewhere in limbo for two straight years. Oh, and Shadow what?
  18. Because it takes twenty years to get anything done at Harmony Gold, the official RT.com is now selling Robotech T-shirts!!!!!! (To answer your question, NO, it did not take a minute to design these in Photoshop and shipped by the thousands from a China) And because you may dared to miss it, G4 TV interviews Carl Macek and Tommy Yune. Darkwater was unfortunately not present. G4 Interview with Macek and Yune (Don't be offended by all the Macross footage) Because it didn't have Space Whales.
  19. What was the reason why the UN Spacy ended up adopting the anorexic Russian design? (besides it allowing anime magic to happen)
  20. Gubaba, sounds like you're asking for an apology from Pizza. Come on, the kid didn't mean to call you a Nazi! Probably has a personalized dedication: "Yours truly, Tommy Yune and the rest of Harmony Gold staff Keep supporting our products!" The guy said that on the latest con vid? Man are they understaffed.
  21. Does Yune or McKeever, being the... "affable" chaps that they are on on these "kickass" Robotech conventions, have a say on who gets sent a CnD letter? Or does the Harmony Gold's crack legal team operate independently, scouring the internet for people who use "their" designs?
  22. The details are perfect on this thing! Great job
