  1. The VF-19 has higher thrust engines, so should get there sooner : P Graham
  2. Dunno? Probably, but why would you want to? Graham
  3. I'd say definitely much easier than the YF-21/VF-22. Actually, it's pretty easy to transform, it's just getting the hips passed the underarm/LERX when transforming from battroid to fighter which is tricky and requires patience. The rest is actually pretty easy. Graham
  4. I've mentioned it several times already in this thread, but I can't stress it enough. Be extremely slow and careful when transforming from battroid mode back to fighter mode so that you don't damage the sharp, thin and pointy tip or the leading edges of the underarm/LERX when rotating the hips/Intakes from Battroid mode position back to fighter mode position. It's a really tight fit getting the hips past the underarm/LERX without them touching each other, but it can be done with some very slow and careful wiggling, otherwise you will ding up/dent the tip and leading edge of the underarm/LERX. Transforming from fighter mode to Gerwalk or Battroid is relatively quick and easy, but getting back into fighter mode again from Battroid mode requires extreme care. Nothing will break, but if you are not careful, I guarantee you will blunt the tip of the underarm/LERX and ding up the leading edges. And yes, another reminder, this toy has multiple thin sharp points. There is a whole page of the manual devoted to pointing them out and (I guess) telling you to be careful. I guarantee that you will stab yourselves multiple times while transforming it! I stabbed myself in a pre-existing open cut on my index finger, which was not fun...............LOL! This toy does have something of a learning curve and many quirks and I've spent the last several days since Christmas day learning to master it. I'm still not there yet, but I'm getting there. And yes I love it and I'm now the proud owner of 3, even though I think the VF-19Kai/S is a better engineeed/designed toy, but then I love the VF-17 as you all know. Graham
  5. Comparison pics with the old Bandai 1/65 scale VF-17S attached. Graham
  6. Let's just say I like this enough that I'm buying 2 more Graham
  7. Let's just say I like this enough that I'm buying 2 more Graham
  8. As requested, photos of the cockpit open in batroid mode. Graham
  9. Don't panic guys, it will be an assembled toy. Graham
  10. Spoke with Yamato today. The reason the VF-17S does not have tampo printed markings on the chest is not a cost-cutting measure. It's simply because the guy in charge of design, does not like the markings on the VF-17S's chest and thinks it looks better without markings.............LOL! Hence, stickers for those that want the markings. I've asked if it is possible to include the markings tampo printed on for the VF-17D. Graham
  11. That's a really difficult question. Ask me in 6 months time. The VF-17 has long been my favourite VF design, closely followed by the VF-19. I've waited a long time for toys of these 2 mecha that are better than the Bandai originals. It's a really tough call which one I would chose if I could have only one. The 19 is a better toy, near perfection IMO, but the 17, despite it's quirks, which I have been learning a lot about these past few days, is also a good toy. And yes, you can open the cockpit in battroid mode. Will post a pic when I get home. Graham
  12. No, you can't push the legs forward more, as they are blocked from moving forward by the ventral belly plate. Note in the photo you posted, the back of the lower leg is already right up against the belly plate. Graham
  13. Your wish is my command. The box contains: 1 x instruction manual. 1 x sticker sheet. 1 x battroid mode stand attachment piece. 1 x fighter/gerwalk mode stand attachment piece. 2 x removable wrist covers for fighter/gerwalk mode. 1 x gunpod (splits into 2 halves). Graham Only 2 of the red and white ones of that size. But there are also 2 x grey and white, 2 x white outline, 2 x grey outline that size. And then 4 smaller of each colour. Graham
  14. Created a thread for the VF-4G, discuss there please not in this thread. This thread is for the VF-17 discussion only. Graham
  15. Yamato webshop exclusive Will be fully assembled and painted. Discuss here. Graham
  16. 60 photos in all, all taken with the 8MP camera on my Samsung Galaxy S2 phone. Including the announcement of 1/60 VF-4G! But is it an unassembled, unpainted kit (I hope not), or an asempled, painted toy (I hope so). But an online shop exclusive Graham
  17. Will be posting 60 photos tomorrow morning (HK time), including the announcement. Graham
  18. Here's a couple of pics of baby stickered up. Pics will be taken down after a while, please don't repost before Dec 28th. Graham
  19. figured out how to solve the lose left shoulder armour problem, I wasn't pushing it up high enough in batroid mode. Geting faster at transforming from fighter to Gerwalk mode, but going back to fighter mode is still a struggle, due to the time and care you need to take geting the hips past the arpit LERX. Graham
  20. Get the Blazer, it's a beautiful bird. Graham
  21. Further comments. Have emailed Yamato to ask when it's OK to put up photos, as they don't like me puting up photos before the official release date. Transformed this thing a few times now. As Renato and Save noted, it does feel very heavy and solid in the hand., The weight is especially noticeable in fighter mode. However, engineering-wise, it does feel half a step backwards in some respects, compared to the VF-19. The good news is the ankles joints, while still ball joints seem to be an improved design over the VF-19 and feel more stable and solid compared to the 19's ankle joints. Mine has a lose left elbow joint (doible-jointed joint) though and also a loose right shoulder armour connection, so that the shoulder armour often sags down a few degrees. I'm also not 100% happy about the hip joint design as well, as the left and right metal hip joint pegs, which slide inwards into the body to lock in place, rely on a friction fit only, which may give issues later down the road. And as mentioned, transforming the hips past the LERX to go from batroid mode back to fighter mode, without chewing up the tips or edge of the LERX can be an exercise in patience. Otherwise, it's a fantastic looking and extremely posable toy. While the VF-17 has long been my favourite VF, I think design-wise as 'fun toy', I actually prefer the VF-19Kai/S. Not saying the VF-17S is a bad toy, but it does have some quirks that need to be learned and accepted. Gets a 7 out of 10 from me so far. Graham
  22. I'd say that's a prety good guess. And I'll give a hint, it ain't the first one. My main concern is whether it will be un unpainted, unassembled kit (I hope not), or a full assembled, painted toy (hope so). Graham
  23. There's a leaflet with the manual, that contains an announcement that will in turn excite a great many fans, but also at the same time, likely piss off just as many. Graham
