  1. So, come on, only one other person was getting the MOSPEADA vibe from it?
  2. Some thoughts: CGI mecha/ships were gorgeous, but the character art/animation was insconsistant Can they keep up the quality throughout the entire series?
  3. Great, no one is seeding the torrent from TT.
  4. I had no idea what you were alluding to, really. The statement "the SMS's Macross 25 [Quarter] Battleship Steering Person." is not exactly clear, other than the character in question is at the helm of... something. So, said character is at the helm of Macross 25's Battle section, which is under SMS control.
  5. That would be rather convoluted. So we have the Macross Frontier and the Macross 25, and they are two different ships in the same fleet?
  6. The Macross 25 is a colony ship, is it not? Macross class?
  7. They run the whole bloody fleet? Well, so much for my paramilitary contractors. I hope we get more of an expaination for this than some 10 second voice over at the begining of episode 1.
  8. How much you wanna wager its footage we've already seen?
  9. Well, whatever they are, they aren't UNS.
  10. Pretty sure he has Big West's stamp of approval, and whether its all canon or not is up to Kawamori and what he decides to retcon. Its 0% fanfiction, its all from official sources.
  11. One thing that I picked up watching these discs, they all but totally avoid any mention of the rights dispute that went on for many years that held up the release of this set.
  12. Its a piece of plastic junk, just like the unicorn that comes with.
  13. At like 1 or 2 AM sometime this coming week, I think.
  14. Something I should point out, the 5th disc with the Workprint on it also has the restoration documentary on it. I had missed that my first time through the set. If you are interested in such things, then I'd go for the 5 disc. They do take a subtle shot as Lucas in it, without naming him or Star Wars, but you clearly get their meaning. They were there to restore and preserve, not recreate.
  15. Ok, I'm clearly not a newbie to Macross, but I've always wondered... if there is a Space War I, shouldn't that mean that somewhere, sometime, there was a Space War II?
  16. I got the special set just to have it. I honestly would have been totally satisfied with Final Cut and Dangerous Days. Original theatrical is nice to have, too.
  17. I think you are looking too much into my statement, with the "plural". We only know of one in Frontier, yes. And until we hear something else, I think its pretty safe to assume SMS is a private paramilitary force akin to say, Blackwater. The question is why are they there, and what role will they play in this story? I'd like to see something more complex than just, "In tonight's episode, the role of UN Spacy is being played by SMS...."
  18. There are some alternate/extended shots, but the only thing that really stands out are the two dancers in hockey masks, and they made the Final Cut.
  19. I don't look at a group like SMS and think Blackwater. Like, oh, these guys must be trouble! But do I think there is potential there for conflict with UNS regulars? Yes. Or, they may not be used as that kind of story device at all, they may indeed just be filling the same role the UNS did in previous stories. Their presence may just be a sign of the times. I just think the story will be less interesting if some sort of tension or dispute doesn't develop over their independent, private status.
  20. Oh wow, I guess we have spoilers on a movie that is 25 years old... Hey, guess what, Darth Vader is Luke's father! w00t! The Workprint is nice, some of the cuts aren't great and there is temp music towards the end (Workprint, DUH!), but it doesn't have the "vision" and it sticks with the intended ending. I'm sure some of you have seen this in bootleg before (I had only ever read about it), and while the picture isn't always great and the sound suffers from time to time, its worth watching. The commentary track is, well, meh. I won't be listening to it again, I got out of it whatever there was to have. I'm onto the writers'/producers' commentary track now. Better than Ridley's, but unfortunately they were not all in the same room together when this one done. Its a writers' track mixed with a producers' track, so you really miss out on half the commentary from each.
  21. Ridley spends half the time on his commentary track fellating himself, the other half of the time he's talking about other movies. Certainly his worst track on any of his DVDs.
