  1. Yup. Just like the fact that I paid good money to watch Kylie Minogue in skin-tight leotards in the 1st live-action movie. p.s. I still buy Kylie's latest music CDs, and will definitely be picking up a discount copy of the blu-ray version of SF-live action.
  2. Yup. Only Houquet for me. I'm sticking with my "if it's a group, I will only buy the lady model to save money" policy. It has served me well, until I got myself bitten by the Queens Blade bug. Now, it's a I gotta have it all syndrome for those QB ladies... BTW, any prototype head pictures released yet for Houquet by either Beagle or Megahouse? I pray they look better than the Stig ones.
  3. Thanks to everyone here for the info on the back-office production politics. I was always wondering why a good show turned ugly near the middle. It started out as a fine turn of the century HG Wells 20,000 leagues under the sea type of story, and ended up badly. As for the Tower of Babel becoming a superlaser tower, apparently the idea is not new. Microsoft Age of Empires 1 has that in the pc game too. Is there any supporting legend for that idea? All I know is God decides that building a stupid tower to reach the sky is a waste of time and resources for humans, and decided there and then to make humans speak in different languages and go their own ways to do more productive things.
  4. Thank you very much. I love all these cel animated classics. They will soon join the dinosaurs. Heck, even Wallace and Gromit is CGI-animated now.
  5. Abba, Bee Gees, Blondie aka Debra Harry, Bonny M, The Carpenters and the new millennium career revival successes Kylie Minogue and Rick Astley.
  6. I'm kinda sad that Southern Cross is not much loved by anyone from both sides of the Pacific ocean. Anyone has any idea if this TV series is a big flop in Japan when it was originally released? I mean, we know Macross is huge, even before the Macross Plus revival, with tonnes of toys made for it, and Mospeada is currently enjoying a nice revival in the toys re-release. But I am doubtful if I remember seeing toys in Japan for Southern Cross in the original 80s release, and even more doubtful if any toys will be re-released in the near future. I hope anyone can provide info if this series is really a flop back then, and why so. Many thanks. p.s. I don't mean Jeanne released as Dana Sterling on a vacuum cleaner in the 'Robotech' toyline in USA. I mean Jeanne released as Jeanne in Japan. And I don't remember seeing any Bioroid released either. Correct me please if I'm wrong. Thanks. p.p.s. What I really really want to find is the song CD of the show. They're hauntingly beautiful (the ending song, and the Zor song of the flower legend. And not to sound blasphemous on a Macross forum, but imo, I think they're even more beautiful than the Macross songs) nb: Found this in wiki: The three titles share some of the same creators, and Macross is referenced by character cameos and inside references by the latter two series. However, the basic stories are unrelated. Southern Cross was the least successful of the Super Dimensional banner and was actually cancelled due to low ratings, forcing the scriptwriters to hastily conclude the series. No wonder the last episode always felt rushed, trying to tie all the loose ends in the last episode #23. sigh...
  7. I would really love to see new hardsuits for the 4 ladies. You know, Stealth Priss, Sniper Lina, Hacker/Commander Sylvia and WMD Nene with missile pods attachments.
  8. Yup. It's a model kit. You can see the info in the 2nd picture in English: Motoslave (Priss) AOSHIMA 1/12 injection-plastic kit modelled and described by Kazushige TANASE Beautiful colour scheme. Priss in a new improved stealth hard-suit (?) Thanks for the pictures.
  9. WOOT!!! Rose is back?! I didn't know since I've not touched a 2d fighting game since my PSP Vampire Chronicles 2 years ago, and didn't follow up on the SF4 news. That means I have gotta get myself a PS3 then. Hey, stilettos are sexy, and Rose is one sexy and poweful bitch (one of the few characters with air throws back then). And don't look down on her scarf. It reflects those fireballs back at those fireball producing noobs.
  10. Yeah, I was hoping for something cheaper too. Still, if their female figures quality are any indication, Beagle products are top class. QC is also top notch. I have their Shirow figures, and the paint job and molding is very very good, even though the figures are small in scale 1/8 or 1/7 only. But I'm hesitant to buy another expensive poseable Japanese toy, since their quality so far isn't very good (an understatement) for a S$200 toy. Anyway, cheers. I'm off work now so won't be replying any time soon till I get home.
  11. Probably the Beagle one since it's bigger and looks more accurate. I will wait for reviews first though, since it's 5 TIMES more expensive than the Megahouse one.
  12. Ahhh...yes...the (in)famous shower scene that's banned/cut in various versions screened/sold outside Japan. Unfortunately, my Sony LaserDisc version has already rotted away. But I kept the beautiful jacket. And I'm still waiting for Sony to release a blu-ray version. So I didn't buy the DVD re-released one. The reason I wasn't a Chun Li fan is because the original SF2 game has 3 unbalanced characters (Ryu, Ken and tick of death Guile) that the other game characters were basically useless in PvP games. At least KOF is more balanced. And apologies for the late comments. Xmas shopping, and again, spending too much time in the World of Sanctuary (Diablo2 that is)
  13. I'm surprised by your attitude. I thought you'll be proud to have such a superstar for a countrywoman. I liked her alot, and I liked her songs too. BIG FAN of hers since her Locomotion days... And yeah, I went to her concert in Singapore last month. And unfortunately, I cannot see her crevasse. I was on the fifth row though...[just jesting. and in reply to mr. chogokin]
  14. Guess the era of the metrosexual boytoys are over. Thanks for the interview. As a Singaporean and a somewhat enthusiastic Macross fan, I'm slapping myself silly now for missing out on the Biggest Anime event in Singapore...sigh...guess I have to get out Sanctuary and back onto earth more often.
  15. Reminds me of a close friend in a similar kind of situation. He had Saber (from Fate/Stay Night) as a wallpaper and background art and also as a 'Sorry. I'm not available now. Please leave a msg after the beep tone' answering service. Her girlfriend gave him a ultimatum: Either get rid of them or find another GF. Well, he's married to her now. But his only hobby now is to take care of his daughter. And no, he has no more anime in his life. But he is permitted to watch the Disney Channel's High School Musicals though.
  16. So who would make a good Faye Valentine? That's all I wanna know. p.s. Faye Valentine is a SINGAPOREAN. WOOT!!! Or at least she's from a place where there's a merlion too.
  17. I've a few (PVCised and cold cast) so far: from MaxFac, from Daiki (Cobra-Kai sculpted ones) and from Ainu. Some while castoffable with a sharp blade and steady hands, they aren't anatomically correct. (Daiki one is anatomically correct. But they didn't paint them pink, leaving them in flesh colour tone.) I pre-ordered that AlphaMax one as well. I doubt she'll be anatomically correct though. So far, SNK/Capcom has not allowed Mai to bare it all in commercial releases. Only in limited WonderFest unfinished resin kit form does she bare it all... I'm a HUGE 'Me Bouncy' Mai fan. I used her in Fatal Fury long before I even used Chun Li in 2D fighting games. Hence, my affinity for Mai. And of course, her bouncy animation does endear her to lots of video game nerds too. p.s. Thanks for the Ranka info. I didn't know that. I guess Big West is warming up to the fact that castoffable characters do sell a whole ton more. p.p.s. Unfortunately (or is that fortunately), I'm not into Loli characters. I prefer Macro Klan/Sheryl over Ranka/Micronised Klan. Lolis are kawaii and lovely. Adults (Macro Klan, Sheryl, Mai-chan) are sexy.
  18. Glad to hear this. I like HLJ. Don't wish to see them go the way of the dodo because of this global recession. To edwin3060: Sorry, but I've said in the earlier post, I shall stop giving my opinions of the economic/political situation of a small red speck in this wonderful Macross forum. So no more rebuttals from me about those points you mentioned. Thanks for your comments though. Cheers
  19. I guess there's a favorite mode for each individual pilot, unless one is Max Jenius. Hmm...I wonder if there's a CRPG for Macross. It will make for a good CRPG ala Front Mission (the original turn based one, not the later arcade shooter games) p.s. I cannot hit a bloody battlepod in battroid mode in the 8bit nes Macross game. And in fighter mode, I keep crashing into enemy battlepods...sigh...guess I need more game time then huh?
  20. I think this is the 1st time I've seen someone describe Gerwalk mode in this manner. But what you said is true though. Gerwalk mode is for newbies. But it's also the only mode I used to play the 8bit NES Macross.
  21. Thanks. I think this is the one my rich classmate has when I was still in secondary aka high school. It does bring back fond memories.
  22. http://www.google.com.sg/imgres?imgurl=htt...=image&cd=1 Was the GIANT ridearmor above ever made? I just come across this image. It's BIGGER than an Alpha fighter!
  23. Jim Warston (ジム・ウォーストン, Jimu Wōsuton http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genesis_Climber_Mospeada
  24. I want all the Beagle ridearmor stuff too, but only if the quality is top notched. The scale's bigger, and the sculpt is more accurate. But at over US$250 per 20cm figure excluding EMS shipping, and with the recent global recession, I've to be more practical and stick to my budget and plan. If I've not lost quite a bit of money in my investments, I might make the exception. Still, no point crying over spilt milk. And I've still got plenty of cheaper, fixed posed castoffable figures to buy. Especially after the 2009 Feb WonderFest.
  25. Thanks. I had the 4 original BGC poseable figures from Atelier Sai. 2 sets each. But the joint quality isn't good. After that, I bought the revoltech stuff. Same disappointment. Then I bought the figma stuff. Same issues. Before all these, I had a number of Valks. Same sadness. So far no poseable Japanese toys have good quality joints. (except maybe the poseable dolfies and dollstuff but I won't know since I don't have 1) So, to cut a long story short, I stopped buying poseable Japanese toys, including the Yamato Motoslaves. (I'm glad I did wait until after the reviews come out, which isn't very positive. Also, as expected from Yamato, they are reissuing the Motoslave, now in a brand new shiny metalic paint scheme. Re-issues in new colors seemed to be Yamato's favourite activity. Just look at their recent Ignis release or their Cobra-Kai sculpted Kanu) Guess I will wait for the recommendations of my peers here in Macrossworld and other figure review sites before plonking down my hard-earned dollars for Yamato's Motoslaves.
