  1. I think that if a studio was bound and determnined to create a Macross movie they would be looking at the wrong series with DYRL. Macross frontier may provide better material for them to work with. There is a real reason for the singing, the characters have a slightly more believable love triangle, and there are big scary monsters which will instantly register in the minds of the audience as bad guys. As an added bonus, The VF-25 are more in line with the mecha audiences have already seen in movies like Transformers and such.
  2. Impressive work! I love your work on the base. The ground cable gives it a sense of some external activity going on that we don't know about.
  3. Nice intro to the tools. I am a toolmaker by trade and have been very lucky in that I can do my own hobby machining at work during breaks. For the serious hobbiest I would also say look at harbor freight first. Most of their stuff breaks down quickly in an industrial setting but will last forever in somebody's garage or basement. Shopsmith made a nice combo mill/lathe/drill press that works very well for hobby or home craftsman purposes. Jet makes a very nice small lathe too.it pays to do your research here. There is a lot of cheaply made stuff out there that is not worth its weight in scrap.
  4. What's wrong with it?!?!?! In all my years of model building it has never been about perfection or being the best. Its all about having fun and enjoying the process. Keep building and you'll pick up plenty of tips and tricks.
  5. Those look great. I also like the lauch arm. I'd love to know what you did the booster pack. Its very convincing. The F-14 looks cool as well. Nice bases!
  6. I used to be a big fan of the Gerwalk mode but fightyer has been the best in my mind for some time now. I always see Valkyries as ground support aircraft any way. To me they would be a large scale paratrooper with the ability to drop out of the sky with guns blazing and such. Such a use would require equal time in all three modes.
  7. I always figured most of them were destroyed in the first war and by the time the world was rearming for SDFM the VF-1 was the focus.
  8. Those pictures look great! I look forward to seeing more as you progress. My own VE-1 is one of my favorite models. I can see some uses for a variable awacs. For one thing, can keep up with the rest of the planes or hang back depending on the mission. The thing that I always liked though was that in gerwalk or battroid it can become an instant radar base anywhere where it is needed.
  9. Armo-diver as I recall but it has been quite a while. I have to go with fighter mode simply because I think most valkyries would spend at least 90% of thier time that way while in use. I have always seen the valks as a craft that was designed for ground support. Battroid and Gerwalk mode would only be used when it was time to get up close and personal with an enemy. Much better top lob missiles and bullet from a couple of miles out. As for hand to hand, I always thought Bretai was supposed to be one of the strongest zentraedi ever. The fight was stacked in his favor. On the use of battroids in Macross Zero and Frontier, those shows showed us a whole lot of versatile uses for a tranforming fighter. No reason at all to favor one mode. So for my final answer I say what is the mission? That would go a long way toward settling this question if it can be done.
  10. Just a thought here. Fighter recovery in space would usually be a simple issue. There's no gravity so the fighter can just coast in an let the control arms do the hard work. Gerwalk mode would make it even simpler since they can land themselves then transfom to fighter mode for storage. The catapults and launch arms both make sense to me. They both have uses depending on what is happening.
  11. The city was awesome and looked like someplace someone would want to live. My personal favorite touch was that the concerts looked like something that a large crowd of people would actually want to see. Most TV shows and movies make concerts look like a plot device and you are warned that the performers are just muddling through.
