  1. He's out already? How is he? Worth buying if you already have Springer?

I picked up a Sandstorm this past weekend. Was surprised to find one so soon. Definitely worth a double dip. He's only technically the same mold as Springer. Peaugh's video review points out that there are more unique parts on each figure than common ones.

  2. That's what I took from the discussion. The Matty Voltron was aimed at adult collectors, not kids. Had that been the prevalent line of thought from concept to execution, many of its gimmicks would have been dropped in favor features that would have earned praise from collectors rather than their ire. Smaller pilots, more complex transformations, and lions with necks, for example.

  3. I've seen it before. I'm curious to see it as armor.

sorry for the lack of updates. i came down with the con flu after Anime Boston. As it stands the articulated thumb seems to be too fiddly to do in shapeways at this small of a scale. The articulated knuckles work alright barring shapeways deleting the hole that's supposed to be there. I'm not sure if I can make the hand fold up enough to fit inside the forearm so i'm wondering would you guys be interested in plug in hands that work or do you want me to keep at trying to get them to fold up?

Yours will be the only option in town. Perfect or not, I'll be getting a set.

  4. I haven't checked my Garland to see if the shoulders held up, but will try to locate it and take a look.

I appreciate that. Please let me know how they're holding up.

I finally got a hold of a Garland metallic version (bought but have not got it in hand yet) and am wondering about these parts.

Now that Yamato is defunct, I doubt I can get parts from them. Maybe Yamato USA still exists in a way and could send them.

I know that several folks on these boards have also made Shapeways parts.

I checked out my Garland. The new shoulders have held up fine. However, the metal swing arms seem to have eroded. I will definitely be ordering a plastic set from Veef along with a ton of other stuff when funds loosen up. Hopefully the Alpha hands will be in his store at that time.

  5. The shoulders on the newer ones (after the MZ1 Garland) and the replacement ones Yamato USA was sending out are reportedly made of POM plastic. I got a replacement set years ago and the plastic used definitely had a different finish and color than on the original shoulders. I haven't checked my Garland to see if the shoulders held up, but will try to locate it and take a look.

  6. I'm always tempted to get the Scott or Rand versions. But I just can't accept them since I wanted the Rook version sooo much. Plus, I just remember being down right angry at the first Scott Cyclone toy. I can't remember the company's name. But it would always break and crumble.

Are you referring to the vintage Cyclone from the 80's? Never heard of those going brittle. If not, you must mean the CM's Corp Ride Armors. The one I have broke at the arm joint. It has since been glued at the cost of articulation.
