  1. Theres a well noted problem with the pilot figures-- more like 1/90 or 1/100 than 1/72. Nice adding Ranka in! Did you check with the canopy for clearance?
  2. About the clear parts-- do you paint/ink the front the colour you want-- green, purple etc, and then ink the back with silver? What kind of silver paint do you recommend?
  3. Main VFs will probably not be exclusive. Yep, I'm guessing that it will probably be chunky to a certain extent, but I suspect that some of the VF-25 problems (like the backs of the legs) are due to the need to add on the super and armoured packs. The VF-27 won't suffer from such problems (I hope)
  4. Ahh well, one can always dream. Those who hate the tail fins could always just keep the fast packs on though.
  5. I would say that they are probably just fans, given how flat they are in the line art and the toy. Digressing a little, its interesting how the US JSF programme was based on Russian fighters-- the X-32 on the YAK-36 and the X-35 (F-35) on the YAK-38/-141.
  6. Nice... That just makes me want a VF-27 all the more!! Realistically though I guess we'll have till wait till next year to see if Bandai chooses to go with the VF-171 or the VF-27 after the milking of the VF-25 cash cow (armoured packs, I'm looking at you!) . I'm predicting (and hoping!) that the -27 comes first!
  7. Probably the same problems of leg storage-- I'm pretty sure Yamato would have given us bigger fins if they could. You never know, if someone gives them the feedback (*cough*Graham*cough*) they might make interchangeable fins-- bigger ones for the fighter purists, and smaller ones for the perfect transformation, just like they gave two sets of canards for the YF-19? Remko: Finally! Another VF-11 lover. It is still my favourite VF so far!
  8. sweet.... I guess you don't have the shoulder problems?
  9. Hmm oh well. Bandai could still include it as a cable and spike additional part though, like they have done on some of their Seed, Destiny or 00 model kits. Well, if they made the effort I would be impressed.
  10. Yea I did more research and found that, and the Yak-141 as well. My bad. S.K. doesn't credit either of the Yak designs as well, though. Anyway, the fact that the SDF-1 had an attached carrier, and every Macross since then had catapult launch facilities, clearly indicates that there must be some advantage to catapult launching, whether it be saving reaction mass or increasing sortie rates (i.e. no. of VF launched per minute). The need to maintain a safety distance between launching fighters, due to backblast, or risk or collision or whatever, may be one factor.
  11. Not sure where to put this, but since its of the 1/72 VF-25S, where can I get more pics of the model on the MW main page??
  12. IIRC its because the VF-11s in Mac7 had the whole ejectable cockpit capsule thing, so by extension the VF-11s in MacPlus must have had them too. edit: kanedaestes beat me to the punch
  13. Yea, I'm surprised that S.K. didn't credit the F-35 for inspiration for the SV-51. He HAD to have got that idea from there, afterall-- are there any other aircraft with a forward lift fan? VF5SS: Yep, the bobbing is kind of the consequence of having the reversed knees.
  14. Maybe the G has some specialized targeting software/hardware as well? Alto could probably fire the weapon, just not with as much accuracy as Michael. The alternative, of course, was that Michael was the cannon fodder i.e. blue is the new CF colour which is why only he, out of the 4 VF-25s, got killed (albeit out of his VF) Hopefully the Bandai DX that is coming out in March sheds some light on the spike/grappling hook.
  15. Re-upload please! Links don't seem to be working! edit: good to go for me now.
  16. Well.... you could just get them all eventually of course, spreading out your purchases. The YF-21 seems to have the least problems of the 3 though, so you might want to go for that first. The SV-51 supposedly has knee problems and the -0A is floppy.
  17. I'm wondering if Bandai has the rights to the game VFs like the VA-3 Invader? This whole series may make getting the 1/100 VB-6 from Yamato worthwhile if only just to give a sense of scale!
  18. I'm comparing LS's pictures and my 1/72 -11 w/Fast packs now, and the improvements really are pretty good: 1)Sleeker nose 2)Larger, more accurate intakes 3)No more intake screws(which lead to the smaller intakes on the model) 4)Larger, more accurate dorsal fast packs So, if you want this but hate the tailfins, just go the Fast pack route--- those, at least, are line-art accurate!
  19. Not at all-- in current world operations, you often want all your aircraft to arrive at the same time for an Alpha strike, so they put the aircraft that launch first into a holding pattern waiting for the rest of the aircraft--tanking as per necessary. Differential launching velocities would eliminate the need for this. Afterall, if your fighters have to go into a holding pattern to wait for the rest of the flight, you have already lost the velocity advantage gained from catapult launching, so in comparison my method is still more effective for large operations.
  20. Well, all mainline fighters since the VF-11 have a stated VTOL capability, which means 1 of 2 things a)Can transform to Gerwalk on the ground, then use Gerwalk for VTOL or b)Vernier thrusters have enough thrust to lift the VF off the ground in fighter mode. Given the accelerations these things can pull in space, (b) is far more likely.
  21. Well, both the YF-21 and the SV-51a CF can be found for 175 USD on ebay, which is cheaper than when it was first launched, though still more expensive than a -0A (105 USD for -0A w/ super/strike pack) I guess it depends on where your priorities lie!
  22. That's gorgeous! Where is that aircraft from? Having just built my Eurofighter Typhoon I suggest taking an existing aircraft kit wing and modifying from there? The basic shape is already there and all you'd have to do is drill a hole in it or something... should be far easier than trying to build it from scratch (although you might not get the exact shape you want) HWR MKII: Yea I know that the wash is the way to go, but it requires more equipment, including the clear coating stuff (I don't have a space for spraying my kits, and living in London it rains so often and so unpredictably) as compared to a marker and an eraser.
  23. Haha yea I will get that once I scrape up the money for it! There's just wayy too much stuff coming out nowadays, but eventually I will get the -21 and a fold booster for it as well!
