  1. I very much agreed. I do not recognize it's Minmay at all. Where are the resemblances except for the blue hair and the dresses? It may just be Kamille (yes, Kamille Vidan) cross dressing...
  2. I went out to the shops to check! Haven't seen it yet.
  3. Even cheaper (about US$154) and without shipping cost! I live in Hong Kong. This's the 2nd best place to live in besides Japan as a Macross freak I guess.
  4. I just placed an order on the SV-51 CF... After all, it's the only thing left in the Zero series I haven't got... (actually I am waiting for VF-0S re-issue and Ghost A restock... But I am getting those for sure) I am a damned completionist.
  5. It's so limited (100 units?) that I consider it does not exist. You'll probably pay less to get a good modeler to help you air-brush the weathering effect.
  6. It is sooner than you think! http://www.yamato-toys.com/items/detail.php?gid=1216
  7. I am really turned off by the fuselage in battroid mode sometimes...
  8. Exclusives are bad to us collectors. I very much agree that if it doesn't seem to sell well enough in the long run, it shouldn't be produced at all. If it sells well, it shouldn't be exclusive. I have a "build to order" concept though. Say, Yamato will manufacture the model once it get sufficient orders. If it doesn't receive enough orders in 6 months, you get a refund, etc etc. We would all be happy people.
  9. I can see your love in the photos...
  10. I broken 1, 2 and 3. I started from "Hmm, I'll only get Focker 1S and Hikaru 1J, one with SSP and one with the armor." Then "Hmm, VF-1S Hikaru is the hero vehicle, I should get it too". "Hmm, Max and Kakizaki 1A are cheap (in fact, cheaper but not cheap). I can team them up with 1S Hikaru for the Skull team thing!" "I have the Skull team now! Oh wait, when Hikaru is in 1S, Max is already gone. The true Skull team is with 1A Hikaru..." "The Max and Miria 1J are re-issued!" Afterwards, I don't need any reasons to justify any purchase, except to "collect them all".
  11. Wow... I was thinking about the mass production model too, but couldn't make the decision. The affection hasn't grown on me after watching the OVA. How do you love it when it's alongside with Ivanov and Nora?
  12. Thanks Pete! I think I did the right things... I looked at the reference from the official site; in case somebody else has the same problem as I do, I'll post the link here: http://www.yamato-toys.com/dev/cont_057/index.html I suppose if they explicitly add a page in their site on how to do this, I'm not the only one with the trouble. The sequence is basically fine, but it takes some force for me to push it up to "slide" the hip thing out of the fuselage (step 3 -> step 4 in the above link), and I hate to. I have had too many experiences in breaking toys like this (touch wood, none broken in my Yamato collections yet). And about the shoulder thing... so it's not only me who have the heart attack!
  13. In fact, the limited editions are not much more expensive in Japan, only for overseas people like us would suffer from another limited model instead of regular model. The difference is, if I am in Japan, if there's a limited model, I would buy it more sooner in case it is all gone. That boosts sales in a short period I guess; the downside is, you cannot re-issue the model.
  14. Is it only me or what? I found the 1/60 v2 (and the VF-0 in that matter) require me to put force to transform in certain steps. Never had to push so hard for 1/48s. e.g. the hip part when you change back from battroid... I checked the Yamato site and I think I am doing it right. And the shoulders do look so fragile! Mechanically, it looks the same as 1/48 counterpart, but the 1/48 shoulders feel so solid that I never worried. But the 1/60 model makes me wondered if it would break any time when I pose the arms.
  15. How would anyone who got a Miria not getting Max next? (except for those who already got a Max I suppose) That's evil!
  16. I need the new 1/60s, but my 1/48s are better! The best deal I've got was on my first 1/48 1S and 1J (bought them together). Was US$77 each brand new.
  17. The SV-51 comes with a stand.
  18. Can't wait!!!!!!! Owing to lack of display space (or living space in that matter), my collections go back to the boxes after a short while (always waiting for the day when I move to a bigger house). So I am unable to try it myself in near future... P.S. I had bought the Nora before I watched Macross Zero, so I didn't try that pose before I put it back into box. P.P.S. Besides this scene, I don't have much memory about the battroid mode of the SV-51. Think it mostly appears in fighter mode (of course!) and when in close range, gerwalk mode.
  19. We have the inconsistent problem again for our beloved Macross... In fact I wondered about this too when I got my 1/48s (Focker gets a red light and Hikaru gets a yellow on the head), so I checked the movie. I think it was pretty obvious for Focker to have red light; but I saw Hikaru 1S having black light, red light, and in the final scene when it launched the full ammo attack, it looked like yellow (never managed to capture a good screenshot). Maybe it's just a light, so it can be yellow, red or off (black). Although I would bet my valk... my money that it's the same problem with the heatshield color. And also if I am the Yamato engineer, if I can choose I would choose yellow light too for Hikaru 1S. Enough red already, and especially there are 2 red arrows on the head. And then, on the Hikaru 1S box... Look at the back, and the battroid has red light on the head. So inconsistency is not limited to the anime.
  20. Hmmm... Personally I think Yamato can do better with the battroid mode... vs I respect your preference of course.
  21. I shouldn't argue on personal preference; but I am really curious: do you really think the battroid mode is perfect?
  22. While I like 1/48 better overall, in terms of proportion I think it's 1/60 v2 wins. If there is a 1/48 version 2 which is an enlarged version of the 1/60 v2, with the fuselage problem fixed, I'll get a second job to buy the whole line.
  23. Yeah, for some reason, the 1/48 VF-1A Hikaru is very difficult to come by. I was lucky to get one! But the 1/60 v.2 VF-1A has been the slowest selling in the new series (still saw it in the shop now). I mean, I suppose it should be more popular than Tomahawk. But Tomahawk is already sold out and a re-issue is on the way.
  24. The TV pack has the missiles too... Somehow it can't be seen in my photo... Let me borrow the official picture:
  25. Just come across a couple of pics from the official site. The fuselage is bad. (The big chest plate of 1/48 is good for me)
