  1. Those were the good old days in 2008 to 2010. You got new Yammies every month. If you didn't see a new valk in two months, you whined.

Yeah I do too. I remember just 3 months ago I read a post stating that we live in the golden age of Macross collecting. "Lived" is probably the word now. The good old days is what we will say.

  2. The VF-1J bundle is with TV Super Parts, which have a different color tone and arm pieces.

You still see it around? What are you waiting for?

oh man.. you guys are killing me *adds VF-11B to cart*

Edit: WHY DO YOU GUYS HAVE SO MANY 11Bs?!?!

Also wondering if I should get the VF-1J (Ichijo Hikaru Ver) with Super/Strike Parts bundle... I already have VF-1S Hikaru and Roy versions with 2 Super/Strike Packs

  3. It's the first time I prefer never have the chance to hear wonderful stories.

    P.S. Was VF-0 v.2 planned?

Well, if this truely is the end, once it's confirmed it is the end and time has passed for the dust to settle, I have some wonderful stories to tell, figures to share, photos to post etc.......hahah

But let's just wait and see.

  4. No one knows what will happen next, so this may be the perfect time to get panick.

In Hong Kong Yahoo Auction, many valks are gone. I've seen the sellers carrying 8 boxes of Yammies to trade. (Don't ask me what I was doing then!)

Checked Yahoo Japan Auction, similar deal.

    a. Buy it now (at normal price)

    b. Buy it later (at an inflated price if these toys are gone forever, or at a discount if Arcadia re-issues them in ample amount)

    c. Never see them again, or only see them at ridiculous price

Many people chose (a) now it seems.

  5. Same suggestion/feeling there. Mac 7 is not for the faint-hearted.

I can't say it for others, but to me Mac 7 to Macross is more than G Gundam to Gundam, if you know what I mean.

Nope, we get your story alot here. Welcome back to the true essence of what you loved when you were young.

Skip Macross 7 and come back to that later. We don't want to lose you on the way ;)
Mac 7 is not for everyone, and it's not the highest quality as far as combat scenes being a limited budget TV series.

If you were jaw dropped by Zero, prepare your chin strap for Frontier.

  6. Ditto, I think I want an Isamu custom YF-29 toy more than a YF-30 toy. I do think after the VF-171 cannon fodder and YF-30, I'll probably be out of the VF toy collecting business, unless Arcadia does start making Macross toys. I've had enough of Bandai's shenanigans. Graham

Me too. The Isamu YF-29 and Ozma YF-29 look more appealing than the YF-30. I like it that Kawamori (think he did the design?) cared to redesign custom heads too, not just the colors.

  7. Yeah I spent almost all the materials I'd been saving on a couple of upgrades. Wasted on on VF-25A when I should have just bought the VF-25S (non-Ozma) from the guild. :( Found the super pack and tornado pack, the race to win them is kind of a pain though.

That's what I have been worrying about, having to win those god damn races to acquire these parts.

    I want to quit already.

  8. This is the procedure:

    1. Check the boards everyday, particularly the DX VF-25 thread

    2. Once pre-orders are announced, you need to stock up on the following:

    • Red Bull and some food
    • Stress Balls
    • Alcohol (very important)

    3. Lock yourself in your man-cave and make an account, complete with payment info, on all the major sites. Here's a few to get you started

    • HLJ
    • Hobbysearch
    • Amiami
    • Anime-Export
    • Nippon-yasan
    • Play-asia
    • CD-japan

    4. Around 1 hour before the preorder window (typically 16:00 JST) OPen up a browser window on each online store you know of and Log into your account. The time it takes to login could cost you your valkyrie.

    5. Either get an autorefresh script or F5 every page until you see your target. Squeeze stress ball to release stress and tension because you'll need to be ACCURATE with your mouse. Fractions of seconds count!

6A. If you're able to get a valk in your cart and al lteh way to checkout / payment, you succeed. Proceed to Mw boards to brag about getting a pre-order.

6B. If you're like 99.9% of Mw-er's you won't get a pre-order. Go Bitch on the boards about missing the pre-order and then proceed to bitch about Bandai, Scalpers, and then more Bandai. Afterwards cry yourself to sleep while drinking lots of alcohol to dull the pain.

    7. Wake up with a hangover only to check the boards and see you missed the Nippon-yasan reopen. Repeat Step 6B

    8. Say "F*** it," Give in and order the long-open Nippon-yasan valk at 40-50 dollar markup because that's the only way you'll ever see this valk.

    9. heal over time, return to normal. Deal with Bandai Preorder PTSD and await the next dreaded Preorder announcement.

Did I get it right everyone?

You are invading my privacy. :D

  9. Guys, I think we had a good run with Yamato. I wouldn't mind taking a break. We got pretty much everything made into a toy. If Arcadia continue with PT 1/60 toys, great. If they don't, that's OK, too. It's not as if they stopped before they finished Skull Squadron or anything. Heck, they even re-released them as a victory lap of sorts.

    SPARTAN AND PHALANX! c9c19202.gif

  10. If you're attempting them early on, then yes they're a pain. They get significantly easier as you upgrade the planes. Not to say they might not still be irritating, but they do get better. Also, don't try them with real aircraft controls, because having to roll to collect those targets is much harder than just steering around.

I think I just hit the final chapter, so I'm done for the night. It's one of those "Are you sure you want to do this? There's no going back after this" points that tells you to save. I think there's quite a bit to go still though, because very little (if anything) has actually been resolved in any way. It might be just a save point before the storyline branches to different paths (or endings, if it's almost done).

I'm about 30 hours in, but I admit, I've been happily running about spamming missiles everywhere to gain TP and unlockables. ^_^

Really.. I think my most serious gripe at this point is that they've had Ranka dressed in the absolute fugliest outfit I have ever seen in my life for the entire game. It's hideous. At least they had Sheryl arrive in a flight suit, but EVERY dialogue scene of Ranka has had her in that wonky thing. I want to slap that hat off her head, and then slap the artist who designed that. :p

Ugh.. aside from that though, only complaint I can think of at the moment is that the aircraft tree seems to jump around, or that several of the main developments are hidden, while later versions pop up easily. I don't recall what I did to unlock the VF-171EX armor pack, I think it was just a simple hunter guild quest... but I can't find the actual VF-171EX blueprint at all. It's not a quest or race reward, and I can't use the packs without making the plane (which is kinda messed up, since I think non-EX variants are using the packs in the game :p)

So far, only aircraft I'm actually missing are the VF-19S, VF-171EX, and all the custom paint jobs (except Roy's VF-0). Fortunately, the main VF-25 line is pretty easy to get, and the super and tornado packs are a breeze to get (a 1 item gathering quest for each, with a big map logo pointing out where to look ). No sign of the armored packs yet though.

I do need to run the rounds of the hunter guild bases to see if any new quests have popped up after completing bits of the story, but so far I'm at a loss to see where the 19S and EX come from.

Oh.. and two sad bits.. well, three, but two are fixable and one isn't.

The fixable ones are plot relevant, so spoilers incoming (not that anyone couldn't see this coming though :p)

Songs: They apparently couldn't get Voices and Arkan for the soundtrack. The music used for Sara and Myung isn't terrible, but it seemed out of place for Sara, and Myung's was a serious disappointment for me after hearing Information High a few minutes earlier. It sort of sounds like Voices, but I don't think it has actual words, and it's sung by a choir, not by her, which kind of defeats the entire purpose. :p

Fortunately, once I figure out how to do it, I'll just swap out the actual tracks from my music library, and problem solved. I plan on switching out several actually, but for the most part even the generic map music hasn't been too grating yet. That may change on a second playthrough.

Ok, the unfixable sad thing: they skipped over the VF-17 entirely. There is a Millia-style red scheme for the 171, but Diamond Force is nowhere to be found.

I guess it could have something to do with what times the characters were pulled from relatively, but if Gamlin had his VF-22, Mylene should have had her MAXL. I don't honestly know if all the Macross 7 characters came from the same time frame, so someone who can read the game might be able to clear that bit up. It would make sense to me if they all came from shortly before Operation Stargazer (Gamlin VF-17, M&M VF-22s, and Mylene with a VF-11MAXL), but I think they talk about the Protodeviln in past tense

Guess they couldn't be bothered to make a few more aircraft and fill out Sound Force. :(

Really.. Yamato has spoiled us. I want to see my entire valk collection in the game. :p

Thanks alot! I am happier knowing that obtaining the major/ mainstream valks is not a hassle.

About a full valk collection... They are either lazy or leaving sth for a version 2. In the PSP game we have got almost everything, including VF-1D (it's not in this game is it? I am in desert now and I think I have got past the VF-1 era), Regult, even Klan Klan...
