Just look at the YF-29 30th (10 units left at 20000 yen) and the VF-171 (28 units left at 16000 yen). Both were pre-ordered to high hell and just before release they dropped down to nearly retail at NY.
The VF-171 is abundant in the local shops. As low as US$177.
Quite certain that many units of DX Macross are bought by scalpers.

Damn, I was in a meeting in all of the last 7 online shop sales.
-
I'm chinese too, though not the mainlander kind
That said, the hobby shops in Singapore also tend to price these pretty high (usually double MSRP)
Mayhaps some of the HK members we have here can shed some light on how the situation is there... do they also buy from Amiami? If not where else?
Some times I wonder if NY is buying up stock from places like Amiami as well (since it's pretty evident that they buy up the local stocks from brick and motar shop there)
I am from Hong Kong. Thanks to Harmony Gold and local Bandai can't sell Macross goods, we are fighting for the same units as all other people in the world. You may see the Macross DX on the streets, but at scalper price.

I'd be in the middle of a meeting when Amiami opens for sale...

Does Amazon Japan ship overseas? Thanks in advance.

Damn I'm at work now and can't look at those images due to some IT shenanigans. Can someone describe what they changed on the hip? Does it look like the Renewals? Or even better can someone re-post the image of the hip.
The new version gets a neck and the chest now rests higher. The shoulders are also readjusted it seems.
Damn. I thought it would be a quiet August.
P.S. Oops! I didn't comment on the hip.

To be issued in August:

Since that was a prize figure, I've seen it go for as low as $20 or less in the past. Of course, it could have been even cheaper for anyone who is really good with UFO catchers, lol! The face wasnt the best but it was a good figure for what it was imo. Saw a girl get one for a birthday present once. She was so happy that she immediately spent the next 15 minutes taking close-up photos of Sheryls butt....
Amazon Japan has it for 18% off which equates to 500yen more than AmiAmi, but with Amazon japan I get free shipping which makes them slightly cheaper for me, all things considered.
Do you live in Japan? Is it regarded to be a popular item in Japan?
Just curious how popular Macross is in its homeland.
-
In many ways, it reminds me of this figure - which was around $50 (Banpresto SQ series)
I still like the whole set, so per-ordered at AmiAmi
The MSRP should be less than US$30... For that price, it's a decent figure. But honestly, the face script was bad.

I liked the green canopy too. The color mix was good.
To hell with "real life military color" when we have a fighter that can transform into a giant robot in a second. My LV 1S has bright yellow stripes.

That Armored 25S is such a beauty.

Yesterday a local toy shop opened it for preorder at approximately $177.
I wonder if Bandai makes a lot of units this time.
-
Why would watching the anime give him a better idea? I haven't been able to finish an episode of Mac7 or Frontier and I know which I want to own based purely on how the toys look.
Sometimes the character will add up to how you like a mecha.
For instance, I don't like VF-19S/F enough because their pilots are forgettable.
On the contrary, while many valks are blue, I cannot help myself if Max flied in it.

Macross: VF-4G
Non Macross: EX-Chogokin Shin Getter-1
(Interestingly, the most expensive toy I have in possession now may be the Tamashii Festival Limited Metal Build Gundam OOR.)
To my wife:
I've never, never bought anything mentioned in this thread. OK, maybe I bought them at 10% of the price these guys just mentioned.
-
Like mine. It's kind of floppy, because of its size and weight. Still, I think it's a decent toy.
-
I am waiting for the yen to go down a little bit further... and a little bit more...
-
If NY hates you, you'd better be very lucky, or prepare to pay a hefty premium on EvilBay.
-
We all have gone through the preorder frenzy. Sometimes you bite the bullet, and then a better deal shows up later.
Then sometimes you honor the deal, but often you want to cancel the more expensive one.
May I ask how do the shops see customer cancelling orders? Anyone actually suffer from the adverse effect? How many orders did you cancel before they turn their back on you?
- AmiAmi
- Hobby Search
- Nippon Yasan

Thanks!

Would you please share with me the tip too? Thanks!

#4 always applies after going through #3 and/or #7.
-
The SD version has just been released in March, so I suppose the upcoming one is normal scaled.
-
Thanks! But 1 Kuji and the SQ figures are basing on the same dress... ? In such a short time-frame... So weird.

The 30th Anniv Super & Strike Parts (a.k.a. SSP) set comes with the optional parts (armpit covers, etc).
SSP automatically refers to the DYRL version of the FAST parts. The TV counterpart is the Super Parts set, which has a lighter color, different armor armor design and without the dual beam cannon option. -
It was just an initial clay model and not wearing a skirt. Not looked like 小白竜/ 小白龍 costume.
Some non-Japanese who can't read "photography prohibited" in Japanese might have taken some pictures, but in ACE, such people were fewer than those in TAF. There were many foreigners (for me) in TAF. They were the traders/ distributors of Animes who had attended on the TAF business day, I guess.
So what can that be? I can't remember many costume without a skirt/ dress.

It wouldn't help. It would drive up the "apparent demand" and jack up the price.
And even if you don't honor the preorder, they would most likely be able to sell them at $(InflatedPrice -2).
