  1. Anyone know what display stand is shown on this picture? I want to pose my vf-1s like this. Looks pretty slick.

That's the official Yamato display stand, which works well for 1/48 (F/G mode) and 1/60 valks (all modes for VF-1).

  2. Too late and too tired too write a long reply at the moment, but just to address some of the points.

Yamato were actually a pretty small company. You'd be surprised at how small. I don't think I ever saw more than 20 employees during my visits to there Japan offices. May have been a few more or a few less. Of course if you count the Hong Kong and US operations the number increases, but not by much. When there was a Hong Kong office, it was never more than 4 or 5 people.

No, Yamato did not own a stake in any of the mainland Chinese factories they used over the years.

Yamato were constantly looking for better and more capable factories to produce their VF toys. I think they used 4 to 6 different factories over the 13 year run of making the VF toys.

Unfortunately, changes to Chinese labor laws a few years ago, really had a knock on effect and increased production costs by around 20%. Also, the last two factories that Yamato used for the VF-1 v2, VF-11 and VF-19, VF-17, VF-4 where really much better quality-wise, but they did charge a premium.

Thanks Graham, it's nice to know how Yamato insisted to deliver quality goods into our hands.

It becomes more apparent that it may not be possible for Arcadia to continue with the Yamato-Way, which proved to be unsustainable. :( My only hope is that Yamato made some good profits in the Macross line in general, and the financial problem is owing to the other reasons. e.g. Other products, bad investments, bad debts.

  3. Such fan services are so common in Japanese anime you cannot avoid them.

In M7, there are also that manager showing her cleavage and the flying vampiress with big boobs.

Oh, the Mylene is even worse as 1) she is always in her swimsuit, and 2) she looks a child. My conscience rests better when it is about adults.

  4. Wise. I doubt if the 19P will ever get re-issued, Yamato's closure or not.

I don't know if it counts but I was going to wait for the 17D and 19P to go on sale... but then I snatched them up as soon as someone mentioned the 19P was 'low stock' at HLJ.

  5. VF-1 v.2 is sufficiently good.

Just give me the Minmay Guards and Alaska HQ Guards, and I can rest in peace.

Oh, I won't mind the woodland LV color too, as well as the 2 LV-colored Armored Parts.

  6. Hope they are DESTROID fans too. 82da9d58.gif

Yeah, it's hearsay, but only in terms of it not having been officially stated. Save has met and talked to them directly. I don't know the specifics such as if ALL of the Yamato employees simply got transferred to Arcadia, but I know the main dudes are there, especially the guys in charge of all the Macross stuff. And remember, those guys are Macross FANS. They brought out all these toys because they love the franchise as much as we do. I'm not saying they'll continue the 1/60 line, but I'm sure they'll try to do *something* at some point.

  7. I am one of the freaks out there. Granted, the latest offering of VF-19K/S/F is more anime accurate and as many agree, an engineering masterpiece.

Yet given the older technologies and cruder construction of the YF-19, I like its battroid mode better for its anime-inaccurate sleeker look. The original YF-19 is a bit chubby to me.

That's why I like the VF-1 and VF-25 valks better, which are sleek by design.
