  1. At this rate, they should suck in their pride and hire back Carl Macek or, if they're really desperate, Uwe Boll. At the very least he somehow has the assets to hire anyone and do all the effects they want.

Btw, are they still paying people to get the film out the door while it's in development hell?

  2. Robotech diehards are good at filling up the wikipedia with crap. ;)

I think that they take the view the more they write about RT, especially in places like the Wikipedia, the more "legitimate" RT becomes.

On the English version of wiki, I expected longer entries for the Robotech comics and novels with info on the individual storylines and concepts for each. In fact, even some character bios lack info from what happened to them in these entries. I don't know if it was ever noted before most of it was retconned out. Either these fans didn't have the time to do it or are expecting other people to buy the stuff and find out for themselves.

  3. So, your saying HG won after Kawamori tried to steal their idea for a super mecha show, and now they have him safely locked away in Japan where his rip-off Macross series is enjoying its only success. And HG, as absolute proof that they are the true, one and only creators came up with - the Shadow Chronicles!?!?!?

So much better to be Kawamori...

What are you talking about, people loved... that... mov...

  4. Definitely No Love for Southern Cross.

Are there any other anime programs with an anti-fanbase like Southern Cross?

I thought the Robotech vs. everything else in existence fandom was an infamous example.

It's too time consuming and exhausting to be anti-anything all the time.

  5. I was thinking more of Hibiki Kanzaki and the Marduk. In a series with a lot of singing idols and wars, they've used a lot of restraint in involving space paparazzi in the drama. Then again, if a Hibiki character were to show up, I'd hope he's treated like crap for what he is. As for the Marduk, potential character development for the Zentradi.

  6. People here have probably poked fun at this one before. Not really a Macross 2 sequel, but this website uses material from Macross 2 to create a 4th Robotech war, with the Marduk attacking earth in 2082. Great idea eh........

Gotta love the RT maniacs, they can pick and choose whatever they want from proper (or alternative) Macross canon and try to incorporate it into a future for RT.

Should be laws against this crap.

I'm surprised they haven't butchered Frontier yet.

Don't really care much for a Macross II sequel, but I'd like some of the concepts and characters from the show used in the official universe or just as cameos. Is it possible to think of Mac II as another in-universe movie like DYRL?, maybe even its sequel, but not as successful?

  7. Maybe they were trying to make a statement about the new direction of the franchise.

"Yeah, we took material from other shows to make our series in the past, but now we have the resources to make our own stuff. No more novels, RPGs, and comic books, it's time for the big screen. And this only cost us $5 million, so suck on that Kawamori!"

It also helps that the fandom is desperate for anything regardless of quality. They may rant about their products later, but in the end HG still has their $30-$200 per sale, or in Palladium Game's case from the "Crisis of Treachery," per pity sale.

  8. Poor Dee, why? Her death flags were easy to spot in the episode, but it was still hard to see her go. Till the last minute I didn't think they had the guts to kill her, but nothing has stopped the show from doing it before. At least she's with Billy now.

Great job Tigh, you killed the final Cylon seasons ago. And he wasn't drunk at the time either.

I think that's why I like Battlestar Galactica especially with the last seasons, they are NOT playing around. It's going to be a good, but depressing 9 episodes left with everything going to hell. I will probably need something more upbeat to watch when it's all over.

  9. This the first time I heard about this. Moe is a sneaky force.

    Ah. Well, that sucks.

Does this mean we have to add him to the list of manga artists who can't seem to finish their "life-work"? (Although I guess Tezuka, Nagano, and Shirow aren't bad company to keep.)

He's not dead yet, just going through what I hope is just writer's block. It sounds too depressing to be true though.

  10. With stuff like this overused in the industry I understand why some people are sad about the state it's in. Although quality material is still being made, it's usually overshadowed by this only because the staggering amount, appeal, and profit. By comparison, though, it can be worse in foreign markets. Like in my part of the U.S., whenever I go to an anime section in a store most of the series being released have moe blobs written all over them as the prominent quality. I thought licensing companies here were supposed to filter crap like this, not sell out to the masses (or who they think are the masses).
