1. I thought it was official. The HG crew went to the manufacturer in China who had the Matchbox molds sitting outside of their factory, exposed to the elements for 9 years. The molds were corroded and unusable and Toynami didnt want to spend money making new ones.
2. Hehe, which is it? You either believe rt.com or you dont, cant have both (Just had to give you a hard time ) Honestly, things change all the time with Toynami so I'd say theres no way to know either way at this point.
3. Yet. The way its worked in the past with the YF19 first edition and VF11B for example is that it started with just a few members posting a complaint and slowly every week new members were posting that the same breakage was happening and pretty soon it was an epidemic. There are a lot of broken Yamatos out there that are not due to mishandling. I'm sure you will be hearing from a lot more members by the end of the summer. Now that we have US support though, at least we can hopefully get replacement parts this time around.
4. 18 points of articulation. These toys rock, nice find agr33.
5. Yes, there are hilarious outtakes of the original bug Predator suit, if thats what you are asking.
6. A company called Epoch Toys distributed these in Japan in for Toynami. Maybe Toynami released the Alpha superposeables in Japan? 407054
7. Where were you when you were writing this?? 404593 Haha, I was wondering if anyone would catch that I was on lunch break
8. So I used to have Valkyrie toys at my desk and I was never ashamed about it. One problem I did encounter was that people would have their kids in and they would see toys on my desk and let their kids play with them I only brought in some Banpresto trading figures for that reason and in case they were stolen. In the end, I found that having Valks on top of my monitor was very distracting! I'd be tapping away at my keyboard, hard at work, look up, see the toys, think to myself,"Mmmmm.... Valkyries...", and jump online to check out the forums. Pretty soon 30 minutes had past, my work is late, boss walks by, I'm reading about toy robots... So now my cubicle is completely barren (by my choice) and devoid of even photos. I get much more work done now
9. I have tons of mecha designs I have done over the last 19 years. I haven't drawn any in a while, but here is one from about 10 years ago. *Edit - Added original pencil drawing
10. GAH! Now that you've tagged them, I recognize the one on the left! I had the blue one when I was little. I HATED IT! THE DAMNED ARMS ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS POPPED OUT OF THEIR CHANNELS WHEN I TRANSFORMED IT! IT SUCKED! This rant brought to you by my childhood. 399549 I agree, they are the crappiest of the crappiest of toys. The most retarded part is the landing gear which is removable. It fits into a peg just in front of the head, but on the red and green Legioss the antenae protrudes in front of the peg in fighter mode making it impossible to attach the landing gear. That plus the removable wings and back plate, arm fins that dont retract, no shoulder sensor, and a horribly inaccurate canopy guarentees that this toy looks horrible in all modes
11. Thats the Toynami Alpha Super Posable Yes, those are Hong Kong bootelgs of Mospeada. That box art started showing up a couple of years ago so I'm pretty sure its the ADV sub.
12. Thats the Nichimo Pitaban 1/15000 SDF-1 Cruiser model, unpainted
13. My wife and son and I at a wedding last summer.
14. I agree. The sculpt is my favorite of all the Alpha/Legioss toys ever released. While not well articulated, the proportions are almost dead on to the line art in both its modes. Maybe including a fighter mode would have ruined the asthetics. I think they are worth picking up just for that
15. This is from the Jan. 1984 Out anime magazine:
16. Okay, it took me a while to find it, here it is in the Magazine or Anime And Hobby Fans #2 Macross.
17. Do any of you have this item and can you please post a pic? Thanks!
18. I imagine the $50 admission would include a weekend pass. Weekend passes usually include Friday nights, so really you're getting 2 and 1/2 days. All cons offer 1 day passes and many cons offer a dealers room pass for $10 - $20
19. There is also this deleted footage from episode 1 of the ASS-1 after it crashed on Earth. I think it bares more resemblance to this pre-crash sketch than the rebuilt version. Most of the animation doesnt support this though, so I always assumed thats why it was cut.
20. Wow, thanks for that link.... turns out there's a Cyclone/Ride Armor toy out there that I don't own. That pisses me off. Absolutely incredible work on the models. His MPC pics are also a great way to see the difference between the early Scott Bernard MPC and the second editions (with the lighter blue intakes). 386878 Oh, I told you about it, you just dont remember More than likley there is also a Henkei Type Legioss also. The two Korean bootleg toys you own are more than likely are based on those two Henkei Type Mospeada toys.
21. A tiny bit on the high side, but I have seen YF19's go for $250+ and the other two for $150+, so not too far off.
22. More fugly Valkyries. Top left, Takatoku Henkei Type variable Valkyrie VF1J Hikaru; top right, all die-cast Armored VF1J Battroid, manufacturer unknown; bottom left, VF1J Hikaru variable Paro Valkyrie; and Takatoku 1/100 scale VF1J Hikaru variable Valkyrie.
23. Awesome! I will throw in some prizes then.
24. I'd like to ask everyones help on something, if you can. I swear I have seen the above poster before in pictures from an article on Macross toys and models. I cannot for the life of me find where. I went through all of my books and magazines and can't find the pictures. The images were black and white, showed IMAI or Takatoku employess setting up displays of toys or models, and would have been from 1982 or 1983. PArt of the display were these posters or this image on another poster. Does this possibly sound familar to anyone? Any help would be appreciated Thanks!
