I thought there were another 2 episodes coming? (sorta like a 4 hour mini-series...) I liked it, it wasn't the best thing in the world, but it was pretty good. There's nothing more dramatic than having mankind being wiped out by a merciless race of machines.

I just bought Mobile Suit Gundam: Federation vs Zeon, haven't played it yet. I would have waited til EiS comes out in England (yeah... sometime in the distant future), but from what I've heard it isn't a vast improvement over FvZ. I've yet to hear any actual reasons why it's so beloved. I think it's not actually the series you guys love, but what it means for your Macross fandom. Saying you've seen the entire series of Macross 7 means you're 'better' than the average fan... especially since it hasn't been released in the US. So you call non-Macross 7 fans Robotech lovers... talk about smug elitism.

I voted for Macross Plus, though DYRL? is pretty good too. But Macross 7 (and 2 for that matter) has no place on that list - it's a sub-standard anime series not worthy of the name Macross. I suppose the reason it gets better for some is because the brain cells are slowly killed off with every Mylene cutesy moment and Basara's god-awful singing. Stop strangling the cat, get in a plane armed to the teeth and kick some ass man! When an action scene does come up, it's mostly static images of a battloid in a dramatic pose (the same one) and shoddy fire effects... lasting for a glorious 50 secs as we are inevitably forced back to watching a concert. Having said that, I really liked bits of the episode (Deathmatch on Planet Lux) when they discover the ruins of Macross 5 (mainly because Mylene shuts up) and later on when the injured Lieutenant takes out an enemy ship by flying inside. But one thing bugs me more than even Mylene's antics, and that's the separation of Max and Millia... just why?

So the Robotech comic from DC Wildstorm and licensed by HG is in violation of copyright law as it's using the actual Macross designs? (most of which are on that list of lineart the court said BW owns)

Favourite Kills: 1) Shin's first kill in Macross Zero_1, I love the way the second missile arcs its way to the Mig as it emerges from the clouds. Always gives me a little chuckle. 2) Isamu Dyson's kill of a renegade zentradi - the one that we see from inside the cockpit. It's so intense. 3) The last destroid in Macross Zero_3, the one that just manages to escape a watery death, only to blown to bits by two SV-51s. Isn't it odd that in the Macross world, the women pilots are the most psychotic?

Fantastic episode! I loved the firepower the carrier group puts up (reminded me of that moment in Band of Brothers when the planes carrying the paratroops break through the clouds and just see tracers lighting up the sky in an impregnable chaos of bullets). DD and Nora are some damn good pilots... I wonder how good they would be if this was a video game set on HARD! Did anyone notice that, contrary to previous statements I've heard here, the VF-0 are indeed designed to work in space?

For the third time now, I've tried to get into Macross 7, and for the third time also I've come away loathing this series. Just thought I wonder what any self-respecting Macross fan sees in this series. What's to like? Not only did they split up Max and Miriya (wtf?) but it's got some of the most annoying and unlikeable characters I've ever seen in an anime series. Basara is a prick. It's got some out of place designs in the bad guys, some awful music (I love anime music 90% of the time and usually watch the opening and ending tunes with every episode, but this is just diabolical). The animation is pretty good right up until the action kicks in (which is usually after 20 mins of Mylene BS), then it turns into static battloid poses and some shoddy bullet tracers. What am I missing?

Thanks jwinges, exactly what I wanted. I've had Battlecry for a while now, and those things really bugged me about it. I just didn't want to go through all the effort of importing it to find it still had these major issues. I'm glad there seems to be a different gameplay of sorts when flying in space and the atmosphere. Is there any news about a sequel? I've got a Japanese housemate, perhaps I can get him to translate some of the BBS stuff off of the official site.

1) How large is the playing box for this game? Do you find yourself smacking against the edges often? Is it noticeable? 2) Do you feel that you are actually flying around, or is it an illusion in the background? 3) Can you turn around by flying a loop upwards or downwards? Please can someone answer these questions. EDIT: In battloid mode, is the movement 360? (can you go upside down and stuff)

Which episodes of Macross 7 have the most mecha action? (and the least singing cutesy moments)

I'd like to see a series in between SDF and Macross Plus, perhaps showing more of the deep space against Zentraedi renegades that opens the latter. Isamu Dyson could have a cameo. I want to see more of those VF-11s. As long as it features that high level of animation quality I'm not too bothered about when it's set, just hope it doesn't go for weird Macross 7 creature designs.
