1. It is finally done. I will post a wallpaper size at some point tomorrow hopefully, but I am tired now. Thank you eveyone for your patience I hope you like the outcome. 347932 Buddy we fell in love with the "in progress" part, so I'm sure we love the final result!! Thanks for all the work. Are you going to do multiple resolutions? Like 800x600, 1024x768, and 1600x1200? I've found that starting with a 1600x1200 and simply reducing the image gives the right sizes without any loss in quality...
2. I'd suggest a few possible things for the beauty shots: 1. Use your workbench cutting board as the backdrop (it is grey and photographs with metallic sheen). Add some painted scrap sheets of styrene with some panels layed on and a few bits of available detail (painted if you like) so that it resembles the side of the ARMD carrier. (Top down shots and even a few angle shots would be possible, at least until the panels disappear). 2. Using the grey placard sheet you are considering buying and do the same to create the illusion that we are looking at the side of the ARMD (same as above, however with a large enough sheet you could get away with a few hand drawn panel lines for distance detail) 3. Photograph the arm with the valk attached and signal boom "only" against a black background. Over expose it sufficiently so all the colors show against the black (too many shadows along the edges tend to bleed into the object piece). We can do a lot with raw footage like that in photoshop... The best thing is that you can shoot multiple angles, so long as the hanger door isn't showing (we'd already have those beauty shots from the top down shots). You do have a few shots there that are usable as they are. Generally the ones of the Valk and the arm only. To get the hanger door may take a bit of "creative" background fill... A few suggestions to consider...
3. Nah, luckily all the RT voice actors are working on the new RT show, so I doubt they'd be available to do Macross.... Shucky darn what a shame...
4. Man, Figure painters and sculptors like you always amaze me! I'm a static kit builder / kit basher by bent and I'm constantly amazed at the skill it takes to do figures! Amazing stuff Ryuji!
5. It looks like it needs to be dirtied down more to tone down the color and make it look as though it's been grease and oil stained. I've never seen any red cables stay red very long in an industrial enviroment. The addition of the red hose color is fine, it just may be too bright and distracting. A few mild examples: http://www.pbase.com/benace/aircondition
6. 1. Quedalun Rau 2. Gilgamesh (Mac II) 3. Defender 4. Tomahawk 5. Spartan
7. Where did you find this? What forum?
8. Well considering there's a rumor going around that ADV may buy out HG, I doubt it. Also remember that Anime Eigo was allowed to release the subbed version as a "license" from HG without interference. With HG putting all their efforts into Shadow Chronicles and the fact that they are trying to sell it in Japan as a sequel to Mospeada, I suspect they are looking at the Macross dub as a "cash cow" to subsidize their new project. Thus doing the whole RT is godlike in the disc would effectively kill their sales to Macross fans.
9. You know what, if you place a few "panels", gugaws and details on your workbench, it could double as the side of the ARMD since it already photographs as a metallic surface. This way the kit can stay flat on it's back for photography.. Something to consider...
10. Pretty simple really, just contact ADV sales: http://www.advfilms.com/FILMScontact.asp Once thing I've learned over the years is that if customers bitch to the sales department enough, things get changed. I agree that the dub deserves Mikimoto artwork on every cover!
11. Finnish the Booster 345613 Before that, take several beauty shots of the finished kit with a neutral background... It's a sweet looking project... I was hoping for a few new ones of the VF-2SS so I could make some wallpapers from them (check you PM bud...).
12. I'd have to check but FSM used to pay for reader submissions (somewhere in the $50.00 range way back when) that they published, especially for step by step articles. Considering they are one of the few modelling magazines open minded enough to publish SciFi and Anime subjects. Gallery photos are never paid for. I missed your step by step on the 1/72 VF-2SS and I'd love to see it, now that I've bought the kit... BTW here are the Guidelines: http://www.finescale.com/fsm/objects/pdf/m...issionguide.pdf The contacts page: http://www.finescale.com/fsm/default.aspx?c=a&id=1388 ** Seriously dude, your work is on par with all the modellers who I've seen published. You and several others who've posted here...
13. It reminds of the old "Doodle Art" from the 70's.....yes I'm THAT old.... Though I have the "Original Illustration" Portfolio and had to do a double take when I saw this: http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/books/...lustrations.htm I thought I might have had the picture, but when I looked again I was looking at the wrong back cover...
14. The key is to remember to seal your paint jobs in with a clear coat before doing the wash... The last thing you want is stained paint with a wash that can't be wiped off...
15. I've noticed that the signal plate mounting elbow is upside down as well, so if it is at all possible, that half of the arm would need to be rotated to fix it... http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...e=post&id=27489
16. Well the idea of the "Holy Grail" is that it's an item that was available once but has either become lost or very rare. Unreleased toys and prototypes are kind of off topic IMO. Unless you are well connected, you can't get them and considering prototypes are often only 1 or 2, then that makes it even less likely anyone can get a picture of them, nevermind a copy....
17. My bad. Saw the first page and since it only went 5 pgs, mistakenly assumed it was a short thread.
18. OMG is sure hope so!!!! I have more confidence in ADV producing quality products than anything coming out of HG... Case in point the Evangelion series.
19. Actually at the time it was 70 episodes, which is why Macek had to include that anime abortion known as "Southern Cross"... I remember it from an interview with the man at the time.. Believe it or don't Macek was/is a huge Macross fan. I like to believe if the laws were different back then having Macross and Mospeada the only components of RT, the show would have been less fantastical and more closely grounded in the Macross universe... Since the stories of both series' complimented each other. However, HG's desire to make everyone "believe" they have exclusive rights to all Macross properties is erroneous at best and needs to openly challenged in a court of law. Since all it is doing is impeding the importation and distribution of many more Macross properties.
20. A pretty bold statement considering Anchor Bay is the parent company of Manga Ent. and they hold the undisputed rights to both Mac + and Mac 2...
21. I am not as up to current events as some, but VR3 may possibly be a game that was cancelled or is still being made...
22. True enough. Cels could be considered the rarest of the rare. Since they are limited in quantity and as you say too often collectors don't display them or even digitize them for their own viewing...
23. Bud as soon as you finish the prototype start taking orders, I'm sure you'll get more than a few responses. Here and on any anime figure painting message boards...
24. Ryuji, You really should consider getting that figure cast in resin before final assembly and painting! Work that amazing needs to be shared!
