As of Wednesday, Hulu is now (at least partially) absorbed into Disney+. My bet is that this hub is where Macross will appear in the app.

Fire Valkyrie is looking good. Glad to see HMR continuing to expand into more new models and more Macross series.

Given Bandai's history with others like the VF-0 and VF-4, I expect we would see more versions of the 19. And don't forget this one, with a few modifications of course...

Went ahead and ordered a copy today from CD Japan. Looking forward to seeing the visual improvement and the official subs.

I would also like to know the answer to this. Given the fact it was first shown in 2002, standard definition (480p) was still very much the norm. HD video didn't really get established until a few years later.

Whatever platform it actually lands on in the US, I consider it good news from an accessibility standpoint. Hoping for Disney since I have a subscription already, but agree that it seems like an odd pairing.

Apparently all Macross shows and movies will soon be available on Disney+ (minus SDFM and DYRL).

It's exciting to see this come to reality, especially at the level it did. Looking forward to getting my copy.

Updated my shelf of "Hikaru's Rides" with a couple of the more recent releases as well as a custom.

I guess I wasn't paying much attention to previous posts on it, but now that I have it in hand, I'm quite surprised the brown is rather dark. When I compared it to the HMR CF VF-1A, Kakizaki's brown is actually a shade darker. I'm usually not very particular about colour shades as long it is around the ballpark, but this kinda feels very wrong lol.
I tend to agree, and think that Max's blue is too dark as well.

Both Gullwing and Great White look incredible. Many years ago, MASK was my favorite toy line, and I had almost every single vehicle ever released. I remember missing Gloria and Shark as well as customizing my Thunderhawk to make it a little more show-accurate. So cool to see these come to reality.

Have you thought about getting him a real guitar. There’s actually a few really good learning tools to help out with the teaching that are available these days. They teach everything from tuning to the basics and beyond. I wish these kinds of things were available when I was growing up.
You never know, you could end up raising the next Eddie Van HalenI would second this, though I think it really depends if someone has the interest and talent for actual music. As a guitarist myself for 30+ years (and a gamer for longer than that) I somewhat enjoyed Guitar Hero, but not as fulfilling as the real thing. My kids are unfortunately not into it, but a teenage son of a friend of mine has really taken to it using the self-teaching tools out there.

Thanks for mentioning that. I enjoyed the similar video he did on the Castlevania series, and will have to check this one out.
Another Youtube retro gaming series I've been checking out lately is this one:

Anticipating that Bandai follows through on the red Q-rau they teased recently?

One option that's come about more recently is the Archi stands available here:
https://gokinplus.com/products/archi-stand-lite-series-hi-metal
But even with that stand you will need use the adapter that comes with the VF-1 to attach it, for whichever mode you prefer.

Thanks for the complements everyone. Speaking of customs, I don't think I ever posted my Roy pilot in the HMR TV VF-1S:

Here's my custom HMR VF-1J CF. Thanks to @sh9000 for the spare head. For anyone wondering, Tamiya XF-92 is a nice match for the HMR CF brown color.

ClownSound Force incoming...Here's the real clown force...
@sh9000 That's a good looking Max. A true TV version of both Max and Milia's 1J would be nice to see.

I believe the 1A space was specifically for Kakizaki. And they did the TV version of the GBP within the last year.

Perfect, I'll DM you. Thanks!

I've been wanting to make this in 1/60 scale, and eventually will, but I think the easiest way to do this would be to scan it, resize it, clean it up, and then shape the connecting parts properly for a Yamato/Arcadia.
That would be cool. Fext Hobby was intending to make this in 1/60 but supposedly didn't get enough preorder commitments at the time.

@MKT Epic as always!!! Only disappointment with the HMR, is the lack of a pilot from what I've seen.
I would say the main disappointment with the HMR Tomahawk is its non-existence.

This might be a long shot, but I'm looking for a spare head off a Bandai Hi Metal (or Hi Metal R) VF-1J for a custom project. I'd be interested in any color, and might even consider a whole figure if the price is right, but must be a 1J type.
-
Very nicely done. I think my favorite part was the end credits scene which looked very much like it would have been from the original show. And the VF-1 was a great little easter egg.
