Revhard Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Well I got a "New" 1/48 Yamato VF-1J and I took it out of the box and noticed that one of the wings was turning yellow. Is there a way to get rid of that? I guess I can use it as my display.
Excillon Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 To my knowledge, painting is the only way. On the brightside, it may come out better than the original. I wish I had a 1/48 in so so shape, so I could paint myself a stealth/Low viz vf-1s.

All you can do is cover it up with new paint.
Valk009 Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 I thought those guys at Yamato fixed the yellowing issue with teh 1/48 valks the original 1/60 line suffered badly from yellowing mainly because of the use of lesser quality plastics and also the see-through poppy box design.
Revhard Posted August 13, 2007 Author Posted August 13, 2007 I do not think it was Yamato's fault. I think my supplier left it in the sun or in really hot warehouse.
Dante74 Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 That warehouse wasn't situated in the desert was it? And if so, your supplier doesn't happen to call himself Lord Kungfu does he?
do not disturb Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 heres an interesting read on yellowing of plastics. its an oldie but a goodie. http://www.vintagecomputing.com/index.php/archives/189
