damaged Minmay guard decal?

I just opened my Minmay gaurd box and was looking over my new buy,

to my dismay the decal sheet is dented up by the model sprues.

The only real damage is on one of the "purple grids".

I can't see if it is riped but it does have a deep dent in it.

Do you think it will show?

Can you repair decals?

Should I make a new one?

:(

what do you think?

If it was any other "VF" I would just put it down as battle damage..............

Minmay would never have this. (yes, am a dork)

I bel;ieve "anasazi" [or something like that... I really should have his moniker down by now] made a replacement 1/55 minmay guard sheet. Once they are stretched they are stretched... you can either cut out the problem area and hand paint the hole left or get a replacement set... up to you. If it's just a porple "grid" thats damaged I'd try inquiring about a replacement from who you purchased it from. Screw the seller whenever you can...

I don't mean that... I mean screw every seller but me

you can try slicing "carefully" with an exacto to remove stretched areas and get it flush but for something as coll as the minmay guard I wouldn't go half assed... Get a replacement decal and either eat the cost or make the seller bite it... either way it's the valk thats important

well it's a 1/72 limited edition Hasegawa kit.

I guess I can call the seller but I dont think replacing it is an option.

(I got the only one)

Is there a 1/72 replacement set???

MicroSol and melt it back into shape?

I was wondering if that would work.

Well melt it after it's on the model of coarse. I've had dented decal sheets before (fairly common problem). I work with the original piece first before I tried anything else.

I make reproductions of the decals that come with that kit. They are $10 each, including shipping. If all you need is one or two decals, I'm sure we can work out something where it wouldn't cost you much. PM me.

BTW: if the decal is just dented (not scratched), Grayson's right--you should be able to use it once you add a little Micro Sol during application to smooth out the creases.
