I've heard differently regarding step 4: he directly pours the mold rubber for the first half of the mold. The problem with this is that you cannot control your seams. One method I've heard is to make a base of clay first and carfully model the clay so that you can control the seamlines. Then pour the rubber in to make the first half of the mold. Afterwards, you simply flip the mold, carefully remove all of the clay and then pour the second half.
