Macross R / Macross The Ride
Graham posted a topic in Movies and TV SeriesNoticing some differences between the rough Kawamori VF-19EF/ES(?) sketch, the VF-19EF CG pic and older VF-19 (A/F/F/S/P)variants. Initial comments/thoughts: - The rough Kawamori sketch of the VF-19EF/ES(?) seems to have the extended Leading Edge Root Extensions (LERX) of the VF-19Kai/F/S/P, whereas the CG pic of the VF-19EF seems to show a LERX shaped somewhere between the kinked LERX of the YF-19/VF-19A and the more streamlined extended LERX of the VF-19Kai/F/S/P. The VF-19EF/ES(?) sketch seems to lack the vernier ankle ring of the VF-19Kai/F/S/P, but does seem to be an all new type of lower leg, as it also seems not to be the same as the YF-19/VF-19A either. Canards in both the sketch and CG pic look smaller than the canards on the YF-19/VF-19A/Kai. Nice to see that the wing-root lasers are still present on the CG pic, although I note that on the Kawamori sketch, they seem to be covered with some sort of blanking panel(?). The sketch seems to have some sort of auxiliary intake(?) on the LERX, whereas the CG pic does not. The vertical tails seem quite small and seem to be positioned somewhere between those of the VF-19kai/F/S/P and the YF-19/VF-19A, i.e. from the CG pic they appear to be spaced outboard as per the VF-19kai/F/S/P, but not as far outboard as we are used to seeing for those models. The folding main wing is interesting. A new high-speed mode perhaps? The shoulder nacelles are also interesting an appear likely to contain some type of weapon. Anyway, nice to see a new 19 variant(s). I wonder who will get the toy rights? Even if this is a novelization, if it is anything like the monthly Gundam novelizations in Dengeki Hobby, it will have lots of pretty pictures. Graham
Kurisama's Custom 1/60 Upgrades & Add-onsHey everyone! Just wanted people who don't frequent the Building/Customizing Macross Models & Toys section of the forums to be aware that slowly but surely - items I've made and produced from Shapeways.com are becoming available to you. This started initially as my own custom pieces meant just for me - but as the items grew in ambition and complexity, I thought it a waste if no one else got the chance to have these in their collection. As mentioned above they came about in 2 of my own threads customizing a Queadluun Rau and a VF-11C; http://www.macrosswo...showtopic=35459 & http://www.macrosswo...showtopic=36209 - shapeways pieces and WIP at the end of the threads. Currently I've finished 99% of my DYRL to TV Queadluun Rau conversion pieces - with only a new hip/waist articulation to go and have finished wing-clip attachments for VF-11s to allow attachments of any current 1/60 missiles and the freshly made HMMs. I have also completed a 1/60 Queadluun Rhea Impact Cannon and pieces to attach to a Q.Rau and for a VF-25 to use as a rifle. More items will become available as I get them and inspect them personally for detail fidelity and material properties to ensure the best product possible. They are available here; http://www.shapeways.com/shops/RPG Without giving too much away - expect much more love for the VF-11, VF-0 and Zentran Mecha. I am open to suggestions or requests - but they're subject to my work load. I will update this thread when items become available. I will continue the above custom threads with the build-ups and eventual completions in their respective threads. Peace! EDIT: Trying to add a poll!
Lego Cuusooo- The Wish List
kanedaestes posted a topic in Anime or Science FictionSo I love the new Lego Cuusoo projects and recently picked up the Delorean which is amazing, but here's a fun one. It just reached enough votes but I think there is going to be a huge issue to actually getting this into production due to Harmony Gold or just licensing in general but the Lego VF-1 fully transformable with Armored, Super, and Strike parts just met it's goal for possible production consideration. http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/638 He also has variant versions including Max and Miria, and the Skull versions from DYRL http://www.mocpages.com/home.php/84284 Another project that just reached their goals include the Ecto-1 with all four Ghostbusters http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/36088 and of course the main site with other potentials http://lego.cuusoo.com
modelglue's projects thread
modelglue posted a topic in Model kitsHello MW! Hopefully nobody minds if I just start up this thread to capture my progress as I delve into the scifi genre a little more and give my newly acquired Macross models some love. I started the Hasegawa Spacewolf model in 1/72 back on the 'What lying on your workbench...' thread and figured I would give it a home of it's own. The Hasegawa kit, for those interested, practically falls together. It was a headache free, simple build that would see little weathering or preshading as I intended to display it in a cross over scheme as a Macross realm prototype. Purists may hate it, and Harlock fans may shake their fists... but I just had to do it. I mean, come on! - the decal sheet sports skull squadron markings! Here's some pics of my build so far. I meant to keep this build light and easy, but I still needed to resolve how to arm it with a large calibre gatling gun as promised in the other thread. I resorted to casting the barrel end of the riptide kit from Games Workshop/Citadel and it fit really nicely on the sawed off intake trunk. I chose the red/black scheme as a bastardization (I've come this far right?) of the orange test schemes we see in history. I figured the white decals will really make for a striking contrast once they're applied. I shaved all the elongated aerodynamic bits off the wing tips and rudders. That aspect of the kit was cool and all, but didn't appeal to me. The burner can and gatling gun received a light gun metal finish and eventually the whole model will have a panel line wash with promodeler product. The cockpit area will remain black, with no fanfare or extra detailing via paints. At this scale it's a bonus to have knobby things included but once that canopy is installed you can forget seeing it from inside my display case. I chose this tamiya yellow green for my interior coatings, like the WW2 chromate used in that period. I felt it was fitting as so much of this aircraft feels inspired by the planes of the age. I did the landing gear in the same color and then washed the items and bays with citadel's badab black wash thinned with plain old water. It settles nicely and is a worry free detail aid. Under wing hard points are intended for big, clumsy looking drop tanks. I intend to attach some Macross goodies once they arrive in the mail and I've had a chance to duplicate them. Enjoy... C+C welcome. modelglue
Custom 1/48 Stealth/Strike Thunder Hammer by >EXO<After 4 years of sitting unbuilt and held up by yellow tape, i finally commissioned >EXO< to build and paint up my 1/48 Thunder Hammer. I wanted to recreate the "Humdinger" SD Stealth version of the TH from MW Con 2008 Tshirt, so this is an homage to that. Again, excellent paint job and customization work by EXO. Not only did he paint it, but added some cool new mods to make it a lot more sturdier and stronger than the original version. My favorite is a magnet for one of the leg hatches to help it stay put! Anyways, here are the pics!! Original "Humdinger" artwork T-shirt: Original Photo Hahaha... so EXO told me how to adjust the photos using PhotoShop or Paint.net. So here's the NEW adjusted photos that look much better: Open Hatches Close Up Backside Enjoy!!!
