That's a tough one...they talk about the "Protoculture" theory, but it just means that aliens meddled with human evolution. So they never come out and say it (probably since humans didn't hear anything about Protoculture until Bodolzaa spilled the beans), so yes, it's an assumption. But consider... 1. The APHOS dates from roughly the same period as the Protoculture underwater city (yeah, it's DYRL, so non-canonical, but I bet cities like that were really there in the "real" Macross world as well). 2. Whatever race messed with human DNA also created the APHOS. 3. The Mayan legends clearly refer back to the Protoculture, and also contain references to the APHOS. So, yes, it's all an assumption, but one which is on pretty solid ground.

We didn't know anything in M7 until almost three-quarters of the way through, so we *MIGHT* be in for a long wait here... Also, I would respectfully point out that we don't know that he hates Ranka's singing career, or that Grace is his commanding officer (granted, we can be pretty sure of the latter, but it hasn't been 100% settled yet).

A weird one. All your favorite Robotech voice actors talking about the "SDF-1 Macross" and "Atalia Island," characters named "Lisa Hayase" and "Rick Yamada," Roy checking out Minmay's slip and the Japanese title for "Count Down" left intact, but the strange little flashback/dream sequence of Focker in his Fokker cut out. Think of it as the missing link between Macross in Japanese and Robotech.

I love Megumi Nakajima's voice, but I really doubt she could've handled Arkan...way out of her range. I'd like to hear her sing Yanyan, though. (Again, though...my REAL wish is to hear Luca sing Santi-U...)

Are you talking about the Robotech DVD or the ADV Macross DVD...? I still have the cassette, as well...haven't watched it in more than a decade and I don't plan to watch it ever again, BUT...I'm glad I have it.

Re:Ranka's voice...are you kidding? Megumi nakajima is one of the best casting finds in the entire show! Cute but not cutesy, and utterly believable whether fawning over Alto, dealing with disappointment by bucking herself up, showing pure terror, or just having a chat with her friends. And Sheryl wouldn't row...she has servants to do that for her.

Well...as Shin aptly proved after the infamous floating rocks scene, would anyone believe them if they talked? And who would go to Mayan to find out? Six to eight months later, the Zentradi arrive...humanity has bigger fish to fry than some unusual phenomenon that may or may not have happened on Mayan... How they survived Bodolzaa's attack is a different question, though...
