  1. Certain laws are also incompatible with the F-35B. I stand by my typo.
  2. The main power of that radar and sensor package being its ability to coordinate the data from multiple aircraft, that system not being operational on currently active F-35Bs is kind of disappointing. And by kind of, I mean very. Not to mention they've noted certain kinds of ordinance are still not compatible yet, including the small diameter bombs the jet was supposed to carry for maximum on-target damage what with its stealth penetrations. It's just PR. It's still cheaper (and probably more effective) to fly a loaded-for-bear F-18 and an E-3 into an area you want to blow up. Without the sensor fusion, night vision HMD, or the types of bombs ideal for taking out small insurgent targets (which are our only enemies at this stage) it's just a single-engine STOVL-capable half-stealth Gen4.5 fighter without enough payload capacity. I mean. At least the STOVL works. Otherwise, the a-hole in the Marines who demanded the F-35B even have STOVL, one of the main things that held back development, would probably be lynched at this point.
  3. Well that's disappointing. It looks like the only thing that's actually working on the plane is the STOVL. Hopefully we've got that at least.
  4. I dunno, a lot of Japanese cars have pretty silly features, like the vacuum in the back of a Honda Odyssey or the Electro Gyro-cator Honda came up with in the 80s. Or the coolbox in the 1980s Toyota TownAce van. In other news, I picked up my new daily driver:
  5. Dynames is the only one from 00 I want. And all we have is that First Grade kit, most of an HG, and a NG 1/100. I need that in Master Grade dammit. Eventually, maybe. I hope.
  6. While that's fine in theory, also recall that 0083 has a PG, which can almost be considered a pair of PGs in one box. For that matter, while Gundam 00 had a huge budget, its selection of gunpla still suffers, with only 1 MG in the whole lineup, 8 years after the series came out. I don't think the first HGs came out until almost a year after season 1 started. For a show with so many different mobile suits, they've really only focused on the Exia and 00 Raiser. Meanwhile, it's my understanding Build Fighters had a modest budget, but they managed to knock that show out in every positive aspect. I think it's more likely that each project has a wildly different budget from everything else, and that that budget doesn't have anything to do with merchandise development, which Bandai handles directly. Which does seem somewhat likely, given the enormous number of RX-78-2s we have. Hell, 08th MS Team has 5 MGs, 4HGs, and 4HGUCs, plus some non-grade kits including UC HardGraph. (BUT STILL NO PG or MG 2.0) This from a series which was unpopular enough that we call it Gundam's cult classic OVA. With that in mind, fans of G-Reco (are there fans of G-Reco?) don't buy enough gunpla, and gunpla people don't really care for G-Reco. So, Bandai doesn't invest in developing new merch and just drop the series with the hope that ad revenue from reruns, sales of existing merchandise, and DVD sales will recoup the show's cost. On the contrary, SEED and Destiny were super controversial and they still are, but they're such strong gunpla sellers, we're getting an RG for a kit we already have a PG for, which was never seen in the show, in a couple weeks. And those shows launched next to a ton of gunpla. The HG line is half Seed. (The other half is, of course, various RX-78-2s) And all of this kind of sucks, because I would liked to have see a bigger, fancier G-Self. The glow in the dark gimmick was pretty cool on the HG, and I think that could have been even more special in an MG.
  7. There was a rumor floating around that an MG G-Self was in planning, but nothing's materialized yet. Which kinda sucks, because I actually did like the G-self's design, if nothing else about the show.
  8. That shin needs a seam fill worse than anything. That's one of the things they fixed on a few other versions of the GM. Newer gunpla are taking pretty good steps to minimize seam issues. The weathering job itself looks good though. It's not over-the-top, which is the most important thing.
  9. Speaking of loud Silvias, I got my S12 running today after an arduous 5-month engine swap process that was held back primarily by funding equaling zero. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-38hq_70TxM
  10. I dunno, if I wanted to buy a Frame Arms, I'd buy a Frame Arms. I'm just not feeling it. And now I'm gonna need some chunky UC Gunpla to feel better about this whole situation. (Come on Bandai, I've been waiting for a Ground Gundam 2.0 for years)
  11. Yeah, the Eclipse HP-CS gets super super fine at the bottom of its range. Check your test sheet for an idea. All Eclipses are tested before leaving the factory and they come with their test sheet at the bottom of the package. Get some practice in and I'm sure you'll become more and more confident in your results as time goes by. MG or HG on that ground pounder? I've got an MG Sniper that I dropped out on after painting, because I couldn't fund the diorama I wanted to build for it. They're pretty neat. Fun gimmicks for its age, too.
  12. The trick to a thin line is almost always, get the brush closer. The closer the brush is to the medium, the thinner the line will be. Of course, at higher pressures, paint control can still be difficult. I don't remember what brush you're using, but if it's the Master G series, you'll run into a bit of a limit just because of the minimum effective pressure being so high and the nozzle tolerance too loose. (If it's the Eclipse, get a better air regulator; that brush can run at much lower pressures than you're painting with) If you're not getting a thin enough line following these guidelines, and you can't get the pressure any lower, try changing to a narrower nozzle. Presumably you're using a .3mm nozzle, which is the best for general model painting. If you need thinner lines than your brush will let you, try a .2mm nozzle. It may not work, depending on the brush, but it's worth a shot. There is, of course, a minimum line thickness that can be achieved with an airbrush, but it's thin enough that you probably wouldn't be complaining, given the circumstances. For what it's worth, I think the finished product looks fine. Could use some panel lining, but it doesn't seem like you've gotten that far yet.
  13. Yeah, cameras do that. Just keep practicing, you'll get it all down eventually. Maybe look into a better regulator if you're still having pressure issues, though.
  14. Looks a bit too dark. Might try using a lighter color over the white.
  15. I dropped out of UTA last year because, after realizing I wasn't good enough at math to do engineering, I realized I didn't have enough money to pursue a generic business degree either. Maybe pursue a career with Boeing? You're already in Washington, after all, and based on Lockheed Martin being appropriate to your field of study, I can't see why Boeing wouldn't be. (Unless you were applying to LHM's missile division in Grand Prairie, in which case, Boeing Aerospace?) Hey maybe you can get Yellowstone back on track.
  16. Production cost and general styling trends are the main reasons we don't see pop-ups. Safety regulations are the reasons we never see popups. Even the expensive, exclusive, buck-the-styling-trend, we're-Italian-sod-off brands are subject to safety regs- particularly pedestrian safety regulations which govern the big bulky shape of the front of every car today. Popup headlights are inherently incapable of meeting pedestrian safety requirements, which means not even the Italians, who would probably try making cars out of soap if they got bored enough, can touch them.
  17. We are in the midst of the Second Malaise Era. I need Ferrari or Lamborghini to decide popups are just crazy enough to work, so people start playing with the idea again. Of course, it'll never happen; stupid safety regulations.
  18. Even as far back as the original Gundam, it's pretty much given that Kycilia knew. Given her character, a lie and a power play make the most sense; she was the only military commander among the whole family with any kind of strategic capability (if for a total lack of ability to inspire troop morale). And of course, Zeon was notorious for being bad at anything involving the military. From budgeting to resource allocation to tactics, strategy, and force deployment, there is nothing they did right. Which is why a technologically superior military whose opening move was to levy a superweapon against the Earth- one which they could not be victim to themselves- lost so completely due to the inability to prevent the war from becoming one of attrition, in which the advantage would shift to their resource-rich and more populous opponents. (Not to mention the huge loss of spacenoid support thanks to the means by which Operation British was carried out) I can believe they'd be lax enough to let some Billy Badass with sunglasses join, especially if one of the commandants was like "oh yeah sure let him".
