  1. I went through all my Frontier episode 1 subtitles. I couldn't find the last 3 minutes of the deculture edition translated neither. I think the DYRL song is translated in episode 24 or 25, but it would need to be retimed and fancied up. Translators needed.

I'm finish the edition and timing for the 3 versions of episode 1 and for the song I used the cript of the DYRL movie itself, but the preview is still untranslated

The funny thing is that the TV edition was a true hell on editing, in the segment of the Sheryl's concert they changed the What 'bout my star segment of the song and surprise there's not subs in the script that I already have again. I look on the shinsen subs release and Lunar too, but seriously their translations of the song at the time make the "brief 25" a small joke in comparison, even the "Frankie" is more credible. Then I remember other DVD version fansubbed that I have and take the song translation from there.

  2. Well some one just released the R2 Japanese remastered dvd with english and spanish subtitles added to it as a torrent. I am Downloading it now to seee if its timed right and if it includes the original menus etc to it as its a VOB dvd copy it seems. If its good (the actual R2 dvd with just subs added that are retimed with no alters to the menus) and not against any rules ill post the link later, as for now it has only 1 seed and i wanna seee if its good or not before posting.

I like to see it too

  3. UPDATE

    Source Files:

Vol 1 iso size 5.299.021.216 bytes

Vol 2 iso size 5.146.798.080 bytes

Vol 3 iso size 5.167.640.576 bytes

    Script help needed:

Anyone has a script of the Deculture Edition with the ending song and the preview?, I already built the complete script with an incomplete one and replaced dialogues with the Yack Deculture Edition Script from Thora for consistency but I can't find those last 2.5 minutes translated

    Any help is appreciated

  4. Few minutes ago, I found the torrent with the first 3 volumes of the series on the asian dvd club tracker. Right now the Macross 7 project is on stand by waiting for more releases from central anime for the subs so I think is good work in Frontier for the time being.

Now the question is, which subs may I use? As far I see it I think the Thora subs are the best alternative, making some adjustments and leaving only the dialogue and song translations, but my intention obviously is to shere this here so I like to know if you consider some better alternatives for the subs provider

  5. Well, sorry for not answer early (this week was hell)

I don't know the cause of the problem, I redo the process here an everithing goes fine, I like to know how many people has the same problem, so I can do individual patches for each file on the VIDEO_TS instead only one for the image

  6. Thank you for your work and for sharing!

This is for the full 8GB ISO's right?

Yes, in the readme file is the URL for the original source of the DVD-9 discs. If you have the Original DVD, you have to make an ISO file that match the size of the source to apply the patches

    How do these patches work?

look into the read me for instructions

    Now back to business xD

Macross 7 Remastered DVD 6 Patch

Well, for now the DVD 8 is off because there's no translation available for the slideshows and for the rest we'll have to wait a new release from Central Anime

  7. I do have the central anime subbed Macross 7 plus episodes and Macross 7 lyrics on hand for subtitling. I'm just finishing up Clash of the Bionoids 2.0, so I can get on to timing Macross 7 mini episodes by Thursday. I can do .srt subtitling, but I've stayed away from Aegisub due to Vista 64 shutting down the Aegisub at random times. Gubaba was planning to translate the Macross 7 slideshows eventually: Galaxy fun net cd, Galaxy Network 0 and Macross Festival 95.

That's good, I guess we have to consult Gubaba for the rest because I expect to do the DVD 7 tomorrow and with this patch done we have to wait until a new release from Central Anime for more regular episodes

  8. the *EXE is just a winrar executable file, inside this are only 4 files including a readme with instructions

As a way to assurance I put the URL of the torrent I've downloaded from mininova

I you already have the DVD-9 you must make a image file with it and compare the ISO size with the size I put in the readme (7.469.531.136 bytes). If it coincides, you should not have problems in applying the patch

  9. Okay, Britney Spears is not a product of Japanese popular culture, but a product of American pop culture. You cannot apply our cultural values to other countries. Furthermore, Macross Frontier was not aimed at children the way Macross was. It aired at 1 AM in Japan. Who do you think it was aimed at? That's right, adult otaku.

    That's the point

almost they all tend to evaluate the series in "occidental standards"

  10. As for the sexualization comparison of Minmay and Misa to Rank and Sheryl, it is true that Macross F had a lot more. But I attribute to the different era when the animes were created. Back when Macross started, the generation wasn't close to being as sexualized as today's teens. They didn't have Britney Speares, the epitomy of a whore, back then as a teen icon. Sadly, it's like the norm now for our younger generation.

  11. Wow, 2 days out and I have to read so much... xD

First of all, IMHO I want to say that compare a Gundam show whith Macross is to make a lame favor to the last, because Macross regardless the fanservice and etc, has managed to be faithful to his principles, thing that even Evangelion has lost in his new version.

With that in mind, lets face it. Macross it is not a show intended for western audiences (you could put the guilt in HG here), so SK & Co have here the excuse they need in order to avoid the "standard of 21st century anime" that need lots of sensless action and ties all the loose end to satisfy the western audiences.

Another thing that I consider foolish to argue is the "age" of the pilots. Geez, now we have boys of 12-14 years carrying guns, that's the REAL world so where is the problem with boys flying variable fighters in 50 years

  12. No, there's been a lot of negative criticism, here and elsewhere. A lot of it is from Robotech fans though, so I think perhaps it gets dismissed more than it would otherwise.

In fact, most of the writing and talking about Frontier that I've heard has said that Frontier is far from perfect, but it's strengths outweigh its weaknesses...which is very different than saying it's "the greatest anime in recent history." The recent episodes of Destroy All Podcasts DX and Duke Togo's review for Ain't It Cool News (and most of the commentary here) are cases in point. But yeah, if you want something that really slams Frontier as boring, unorginal, ugly, and just all-around lame, you'll probably have to check out Treiz on Robotech.com.
