Mine pops off occasionally as well, got me a bit frustrated with my first 22. It's pretty tricky but it's a small price to pay for a valk that doesn't have obvious chunky legs in fighter mode, which is why I love them so much. They have a very sleek side profile and is probably the most successful 3D interpretation of anime magic in Macross so far imo. Would have liked for the backpack to collapse a little more in B mode but that may well compromise the fuselage in F mode.

Yeah pretty excited, planning to get two to go with my pair of Gamlins to form a four ship element. Can't wait!
-
Don't forget Macross the Ride valks.

Is that the same pilot figure from DX VF-25? I don't really care small stuff like that but they can do better. I hand painted tiny Alto figure in my 1/100 YF-29 kit and I think the result is more color accurate than that white blob. It's almost like Alto is wearing a white T-shirt over his pilot suit . Still, having build the kit I fell in love with the overall design. Will get one if I can spare my budget.
As bad as it may seem it's still an improvement over the 25.

Confirmed VF-17 should be matte finish (the powers that be could still change their mind later), but at the moment the word is matte.
Graham
Fantastic news!! Can't wait to see the CAD or a prototype.
Ironic that I still prefer that TF over the VF-29 since it doesn't have excessive wing boosters.
That...thing looks absolutely hideous in real life. I planned to pick it up, but when I saw it at the store immediately changed my mind. Paint spills, cockpit looked so obviously painted on by a 5 year old with a crayon and horrible kibble.
Would qualify as a Happy Meal in my mind. As a comparison I liked Thrust and Tomahawk so I'm not biased against TFs.

I really like the left battroid picture. Screams "Come get me, ya punks!", which is kinda not Alto. I'll just make believe that it's some other military pilot with Isamu's personality.

YF-21 (new package, no stand) half price:
Strange that you post it when the site is down...
-
Not to mention I don't think trying to hide a Destroid Monster "in bushes" would be of any use…
Woodlands camo in a forest maybe, powered down. But then I tend to think of them as battletech mechs, which is why I bought them in the first place.
-
Bandai's YF-29 will be my first glossy valk, if I don't really like it I'll skip on this mold altogether and wait for the Nightmare. If that too is glossy I'll just go and buy more Sturmvogels instead .
-
The battroid is the victim of a space version of the death worm. The armored version was created in a lab by the protoculture race as biological weapons. This is what hikaru minmay and misa hayase encountered and this is why there are no future stories dealing with these characters.
I don't know what you're having mate, but you need to share it.
I too would like an 11D, looks great though you'll need some creative licenses to deal with that oversized heat shield.

Just a quick question; does this kit require gluing?
Not necessary, but some parts could use a teensy bit like the vertical stabilizers or the nosecone, if you plan to swoosh them around some.
-
Wow that elbow thing is genius...
Remember when were all waiting for the 1/72 ver.2 YF-19 and after a looong wait they announced the 1/60 instead... Now we another 19 out. I'm so down for a ver3 YF 19.
So am I, but I'm expecting another year and half at least before we see a prototype. There's just a few other valks in the current pipeline, not that I'm complaining of course.
Still, I like to be pleasantly surprised, though I like my current YF-19 so not too fussed.
-
Tell me about it. I'm trying to redraw them all to include more detail and be at least a little closer to the anime. VF-5000 is just plain awful, for instance.
Eh I kinda like the YF-21 side profile, although the forwards fuselage reminds me of a Star Trek ship saucer lol.
-
I have a feeling even if Bandai continues the line we won't see any non-hero valks.

Make it limited in number like the low visibility 1/48. I'll take this over the booby VF-11 valk anyday.
Prefer a low vis version, in fact Yamato should start a low-vis line for all the valks they've produced and include squadron decals. It'll absolutely kill my wallet, but I'm willing to sell my current valks for em.
-
hope we don't get a YF-19 V.3 for quite a few years
You're evil , but may be right. Really excited about the engineering, doubt I'll be getting this even at 50% off to be honest. Saving up what little money I could for the P and Nightmare.
Actually I'm secretly hoping they'll repaint this kai in low-vis colours, and replace Basara with a nondescript pilot.
-
So, what you are trying to say is that liking the VF-17 is like being a chubby chaser JK.
But for me is like the complete opposite to the VF-19, I love the 19 family but I barely like Basara, no hate, but no love.
As in the case of the VF-17 although Im not much of a "chubby chacer" I rely like Gamlin as a character, he is my fav M7 character so to speak.
Lol that gave me a chuckle. It's just that the VF-17's B mode is the most tank like amongst all the valks and has that military practicality look to it. Gamlin's also my fav character in M7.

actually, i'm surprised the VA-3 is that small. all along i imagined it to be closer to the VB-6
The VA-3 was inspired by the A-6 Intruder, which is hardly a record breaker in terms of size. It's shorter than an F-18 for example, although it has a larger wingspan.

Version 2 "Phat robot" 1/60 YF-19 needs to be done in my opinion.
I want all the great gimmicks that this has had like the cockpit being openable, chest lock, slim fighter mode etc.
Fact is the yf-19 is much cooler in looks than any of the macross 7 variants.
I even prefer the head design with only 1 laser. It had much more iconic dogfights too thanks to better animation.
YF-19 had
-Cooler gunpod,
-non-flashy, non-super robot, paintsheme
-no face
-does not make the shoulders into big ugly triangles that hang off the sides too much (classic anime trope where big hulking robot must take up as much space as possible so that when going through a narrow corridor they get stuck in place)
-doesn't look like it is wearing pants (I hate that sleeve on the bottom of the legs. yuck!)
Macross 7 = the G Gundam of macross. Boobs and faces on mechs is not cool and "the pants" thing bugs me. Yamato is just cashing on the popularity of mac 7. You know it, I know it, and the sooner graham gets them to start on yf-19 version 2 the better.
It's like...you can see into my own heart. /Valk5 Well except for the VF-22S, I love them to bits.
-
It looks so chubby and cute...like a baby robin.

"I have toys that go up in value overtime, but not my Yamatos."
Haha, that's pretty true save perhaps the VF-0S, the elint etc. Even my MPC Alpha went up in value. However it's sort of moot as I personally grow fonder of my valks the longer I have them, exploded shoulders and all. Guess it doesn't matter if you're never really planning to sell them.
Still have yet to get a 1/60 VF-11C. A bit too small for the asking price.
-
Why? It looks fine.
It came from here - the owner has no complain, other than having camera problem.

New review from Japan:
F mode: http://blog.kuruten.jp/bat/162716
Hehe looks like Basara put on quite a few pounds there.

Great F-22 take off if you haven't seen it from behind. Seventy k lbs of thrust at work, almost like a YF-21 taking off. Imagine what our valks could do with the thrust that they have.

I use flightpose stands, but usually have it displayed without one like in Eugimon's picture.
