  1. :( I was so excited about this toy, I couldn't wait... and now I'll have to keep on waiting. No wonder Yamato didn't want any reviews published before the toy's release. It's the same tactic movie and videogame destributors use when they know their product is sub-par.... force reviews to be held back until after release so that people won't make informed decisions about whether to buy. when I heard it was out, it was all I could do not to put my order in at BBTS! I'm glad I waited. If the price drops to about $50 or less I might pick one up.

    I WAS SOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED, dammit!

  2. Hey Dr. Clay,

That pic you posted is of my old Hikaru 1A. I used a set of Patlabor 1/35 MG hands in place of the standard DYRL hands.

They did work much better than the DYRL hands, while still having the squared off appearance that the TV style did not have.

I didn't credit you fer th'pic 'cause I forgot who I got it from.... I'm sorry.

but anyways... Yes, yes! Patlabor 1/35 Mg hands should be recast (seeing as I can't find any to buy)

  3. what if you were to re-cast DYRL? style hands... like big pre-posed hands like the VF-1J's but all blocky like DYRL? I saw a set of hands here once with a link to Hlj that were perfect here's a pic. Perhaps someone will remember.

  4. I'd love to see one but it's a crazy thing to expect

I don't think that was the point of this poll.

    SO- I don't want 1/18 VF-1 perfect transform

come out this world forever -- untill I become a billionaire ......

I think that is the mentality of most MWers... "If I can't have one, then no one should have one. In fact, I don't even want others speculate about what one would be like if such a thing were made. We're not getting one, so nobody talk about it! It's too painful for me..."

I mean, if it came out, you'd either get one or not. Personally, I voted "no," but do you really have to read the OBVIOUS reasons AGAIN? I'd certainly WANT one... I say no now, but if it actually came out.... maybe I'd change my tune? I think that you intelligent MWers could have stimulating messages if we weren't stuck in this bitchy intellectual mire of restating the same arguments... We all know why some people don't like big toys. We all know that other people would like to have said big toy anyways. We all know that nobody seems to like Diecast metal by Yamato. We all know that Takatokus are for playing with, and Yamatos are for accuracy. We all know that some people would rather play with valks and others would rather have sleeker looking valks. We know why models are better than toys. We know why toys are better than models. We all feel a need to show our 1337ness by chastising n00bs. We all no that no one likes rants (unless its their own). We know that that custom is cool, and finally we all know that we agree whole-heartedly 100% with Graham about everything...

But seriously, does it really take all these posts to say it? I suggest that these Macrossworld axioms be posted... and that newbies be directed to said axioms... and that re-statements of said axioms be deleted, and replaced with a link to the axiom topic. Of course the axiom thread would contain all the MWers' quibbles about how Yamatos are more durable than paople give them credit for, or how you can break a Takatoku if you try, or how models and toys are apples and oranges, or how models and toys are not edible and therefore are not apples or oranges, etc... etc...

If you are still reading this, thank you for reading my rant. If you feel like telling me whatfor, please remember that "making sure DrClay know just how stupid he is" is already an established axiom upon which these forums are built, and all whatfor directed my way will just be repetitive.

  5. the nay sayers are VERY vocal. It seems some other MWers would actually be saddened or angered by even the existance of such a toy. Whether I got one or not, I'd still think it was a cool toy. I'd hang up a poster of it if someone made one (or something). I wouldn't be all like "drat! there's a 1:18 valk toy out there... I'll log on to MW and tell everyone all about how I'm not gonna' get one because..."

  6. no problem with the tailfins, cause we don't see them in these mode.

I think that's the real reason for the fast pack re-release..

  7. My display case is starting to look like an all Yammie product line, Takatokus, Bandais, Gakkens and others will be subjected to the inevitable storage box.

I know what you mean, my wife thinks all valks are called yamatos.

also, someone here was worried about 1:48 replacing 1:60 in that special place in his heart.... I have 5 1:48s, but my most recent purchase was a 1:60 (VE-1) I can honestly say that owning 1:48s has not in any way diminished my love of the 1:60s. each has its own exclusive good qualities.

anyways.... back on topic, any doubles of valks I own are displayed in alternate modes whether they are together or separately displayed... I try to make sure that there's at least one example of each mode (1:60 fighter, super/strike fighter, gelwalk, battaloid, 1:48 fighter, super/strike fighter, gelwalk, battaloid) on display at a time.

  8. you know you want to buy the VF-J  anyways, it comes with two sets of hands.... big hands all around!

nope, no desire to buy one, just want the hands.

thanks for clearing that up, kingnor. There's no way I could've been joking in that post. I seriously can't comprehend what I read... again, thank you!

  9. Yamato has stated on this site that they will make more enemy mecha only if the Q-Rau sells well.

I wasn't aware that anyone from Yamato posted here.

Graham posted an interview with a Yamato High up where that was stated... I know that Yamato did not become an individual and actually type the info...
